Thomas Boswell of the Washington Post writes that the Nationals haven't upped their two-year, $25 million offer to Adam LaRoche.

The Nationals could sign LaRoche now if they guaranteed him a third year, but it appears that's not going to happen. It's been reported previously that LaRoche would be amenable to a vesting option for a third year, but so far it doesn't look like the Nats want to do that, either. It's possible the Rangers could wind up going after LaRoche after they lost Josh Hamilton.

Felix Hernandez is headed back to Seattle to have his right shoulder examined.

Hernandez experienced shoulder fatigue -- what manager Scott Servais called "dead arm" -- during his ugly two-inning start Tuesday night at Detroit's Comerica Park. Seattle wound up losing the game 19-9 and Hernandez watched his ERA balloon to 4.73 after surrendering four earned runs. There might not be an update on his status until Thursday. Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times says Felix "left the clubhouse quickly" on Tuesday and "was visibly upset."
Apr 25 - 11:07 PM

Jose Altuve (head) said he expects to play Wednesday.

Altuve was removed from Tuesday's game against the Indians after taking a blow to the head in an ugly outfield collision with Teoscar Hernandez, but he has already been cleared of a concussion. "Most likely -- I think we still have to wait until tomorrow, but I have a good chance to play tomorrow," the star second baseman told reporters late Tuesday.
Apr 25 - 10:00 PM

Dallas Keuchel went the distance Tuesday, holding the Indians to two runs in a 4-2 victory.

It's the first time this season that Keuchel has allowed more than one run in a start, but something tells us he'll be OK with this effort. Both runs he allowed came on solo homers from Austin Jackson and Michael Brantley, and he should have allowed a third to Jason Kipnis if not for Josh Reddick scaling the wall to pull it back. Keuchel, who threw 122 pitches Tuesday, will take a 1.22 ERA into this weekend's outing versus the A's. He's back in Cy Young form.
Apr 25 - 9:24 PM

Kendall Graveman (shoulder) will return to the A's rotation Thursday in Anaheim.

Graveman got the go-ahead after making it through a 42-pitch bullpen session on Monday without issue. The 26-year-old right-hander wound up missing just one turn and will return Thursday to a 2-0 record, 2.00 ERA, and 1.00 WHIP through three starts covering 18 innings. With the velocity spike he's shown this season, Graveman deserves to be owned in deeper mixed fantasy leagues.
Apr 25 - 8:22 PM

Mitch Haniger has been diagnosed with a strained oblique.

The injury is sure to put him on the 10-day disabled list, and it could keep him out through mid-May. Haniger suffered the oblique strain, typically a 3-4 week injury, while tallying his second hit of the night Tuesday against the Tigers. He's batting .338/.442/.600 this year. It's more terrible news for the last-place Mariners, who put Danny Valencia in right field Tuesday when Haniger exited.
Apr 25 - 8:17 PM

Madison Bumgarner will not require surgery on his injured left shoulder.

That's the initial evaluation anyway, after a round of tests overseen by Dr. Kenneth Akizuki. Bumgarner is hoping to begin rehab activities in 4-5 days but probably won't be ready to resume throwing off a mound for two months. The ace left-hander suffered a strained AC joint and a rib cage bruise last Thursday in a dirt-bike accident.
Apr 25 - 8:00 PM

Dodgers purchased the contract of OF/1B Cody Bellinger from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Bellinger is starting in left field and batting eighth in his MLB debut Tuesday night against Giants left-hander Ty Blach. The 21-year-old has put up huge offensive numbers at multiple levels of the minor leagues and immediately deserves a look in deeper mixed fantasy leagues with Rob Segedin (toe), Franklin Gutierrez (hamstring), and Joc Pederson (groin) all currently sidelined. Bellinger could carve out a big role if he gets off to a hot start.
Apr 25 - 7:00 PM

Kendall Graveman (shoulder) threw a successful 42-pitch bullpen session on Monday.

Graveman reported no day-after discomfort on Tuesday and is on track to return to the Oakland rotation Thursday in Anaheim. The 26-year-old right-hander was sporting an excellent 2-0 record, 2.00 ERA, and 1.00 WHIP through three starts (18 innings) this season, showing improved fastball velocity. This shoulder issue will hopefully be a minor blip.
Apr 25 - 6:54 PM

Jorge Soler (oblique) went 1-for-4 with a home run and a walk Tuesday with Triple-A Omaha.

He now has two home runs in five rehab games, but Royals manager Ned Yost said Tuesday that no decision has been made about Soler's activation date. The 25-year-old outfielder landed on the disabled list at the end of spring training with a strained left oblique. He should join Kansas City's lineup at some point in the next week.
Apr 25 - 6:51 PM

Tuesday night's game between the Marlins and Phillies has been postponed due to rain.

It's the third postponement of the night in the Northeast. Vince Velasquez was scheduled to start at home for the Phillies against left-hander Wei-Yin Chen of the Marlins. Velasquez will start on Wednesday against Miami with Nick Pivetta's major league debut getting pushed to the weekend.
Apr 25 - 6:43 PM

Aaron Sanchez (finger) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Tuesday without issue.

Sanchez used all of his pitches and drew positive reviews from the Blue Jays' coaching staff. The young right-hander needed surgery on April 18 to remove part of the nail on his right middle finger, but it sounds like he won't be out much longer. Look for a more detailed timetable by this weekend.
