Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the A's have reached a deal with shortstop Hiroyuki Nakajima.

Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle says it's a two-year, $6.5 million contract with a $5.5 million option for 2015. The A's have been courting the Japanese shortstop all offseason and finally decided to pounce on Monday evening after losing free agent Stephen Drew to the Red Sox. Nakajima, 30, batted .311/.382/.451 with 13 home runs, 74 RBI and seven stolen bases in 136 games this past year for NPB's Seibu Lions. He might carry some AL-only fantasy value in 2013.

Yonder Alonso (wrist) remained out of the Athletics' lineup Friday.

Alonso is still sore after being hit on the right wrist by a pitch Tuesday. He's played just one game over the last week due to a sore knee and now sore wrist. The A's have Ryon Healy at first base and Mark Canha in the designated hitter spot.

Kendall Graveman was scratched from Friday's start versus the Yankees due to right shoulder soreness.

Graveman was on the disabled list last month with a strained shoulder and it appears it's acting up on him again. He hasn't officially be placed on the DL yet, but we're likely headed in that direction. Jharel Cotton is taking his spot in the rotation.
May 26 - 3:52 PM

Gary Sanchez is not in the Yankees' lineup Friday.

It looks to be a regular day of rest. Austin Romine will do the catching.
May 26 - 3:42 PM

Blue Jays activated SS Troy Tulowitzki from the 10-day disabled list.

The Jays also activated Josh Donaldson on Friday, so they have the left side of their infield back. Tulowitzki missed five weeks of action with a strained right hamstring.
May 26 - 3:41 PM

Blue Jays activated 3B Josh Donaldson from the 10-day disabled list.

Donaldson was on the shelf for six weeks with a strained right calf. He batted .310/.429/.586 with two home runs over his first nine contests before going on the DL.
May 26 - 3:39 PM

Dustin Pedroia (knee) is not in the Red Sox' lineup Friday.

Pedroia's removal from Thursday's game with a sore left knee was deemed precautionary, but the club has decided to rest him for at least one start. Josh Rutledge is at second base.
May 26 - 3:15 PM

The first game of Friday's doubleheader between the Tigers and White Sox has been postponed due to rain.

The nightcap is still scheduled to be played, but they'll now try for a doubleheader on Saturday. Buck Farmer and Mike Pelfrey had been slated to start the afternoon game. Farmer will be moved to Saturday, while Pelfrey will take the ball Friday night.
May 26 - 3:11 PM

Daniel Murphy is not in the Nationals' lineup Friday.

Ryan Zimmerman is also getting a day off. The Nats are going with Wilmer Difo at second base and Adam Lind at first.
May 26 - 3:05 PM

Andrew McCutchen is batting sixth for the Pirates on Friday versus the Mets.

It's the first time in his career that he's hit any lower than cleanup. McCutchen is in an 11-for-70 tailspin at the plate that's dropped his season line to .203/.274/.360. He faces the tall task of trying to snap out of his funk against Jacob deGrom.
May 26 - 2:55 PM

Christian Yelich (hip) is back in the Marlins' lineup Friday.

Yelich hasn't played since exiting Tuesday's game with right hip flexor tightness, but he's feeling well enough to give it a go in this one. He's in center field and batting third against Jesse Chavez and the Angels.
May 26 - 2:50 PM

Brewers activated RHP Junior Guerra from the 10-day disabled list.

Guerra will rejoin the Brewers' rotation on Friday versus the Diamondbacks after missing about seven weeks with a strained calf. The right-hander might be on a bit of a pitch count Friday and doesn't have a great matchup, so he's not the best streaming option.
