According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Nationals are talking to five to six teams about a trade involving Michael Morse.

It's believed that the Rays are one of them, as Bill Ladson of MLB.com hears that the Nationals believe they would make great trade partners for Morse. With an .861 OPS over the past four seasons and experience between the outfield and first base, the 29-year-old slugger could make sense for a lot of teams. He will earn $7 million in 2013 before qualifying for free agency.

Jason Kipnis is out of the Indians' starting lineup on Tuesday night against the Tigers.

Mike Napoli, Jose Ramirez, and Francisco Lindor will also sit after the Indians clinched the American League Central on Monday night. Tigers ace Justin Verlander should dominate this particular Cleveland lineup.
Sep 27 - 4:02 PM

Devon Travis (shoulder) is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Orioles.

Travis left Monday's game against the Yankees with a left shoulder injury, but the severity isn't yet known. Darwin Barney is filling in at second base on Tuesday while Ezequiel Carrera will play right field and bat leadoff.
Sep 27 - 3:44 PM

Giants acquired INF Gordon Beckham from the Braves for cash considerations.

Beckham will give the Giants some infield depth this week with Eduardo Nunez and Brandon Crawford banged up, but he will not be eligible for the postseason. The 30-year-old is batting just .217/.300/.354 across 273 plate appearances this season.
Sep 27 - 3:41 PM

Starlin Castro (hamstring) has returned to the Yankees' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox.

Castro appeared as pinch-hitter during Monday's game and now he's ready to return to the starting lineup. He'll hit cleanup against David Price. The 26-year-old has been out for 10 days with a right hamstring strain.
Sep 27 - 3:35 PM

Daniel Murphy (glute) remains sidelined Tuesday.

Murphy has now missed nine straight starts with a strained left glute, but the Nationals are confident he'll be ready for the beginning of the NLDS. Stephen Drew is getting another start at second base on Tuesday.
Sep 27 - 3:32 PM

Bryce Harper (thumb) is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Diamondbacks.

Fortunately, X-rays came back negative on Harper's left thumb, but Nationals manager Dusty Baker wants to give him another day. There's a chance he could play on Wednesday. Brian Goodwin will make another start in right field on Tuesday.
Sep 27 - 3:28 PM

Starling Marte (back) remains out of the Pirates' lineup again Tuesday against the Cubs.

Nagging back spasms have kept Marte out of the lineup since Thursday. It's unclear if or when he'll be able to return. Matt Joyce is starting in right field and hitting fifth.
Sep 27 - 3:20 PM

Gregory Polanco (face) is back in the Pirates' lineup Tuesday against the Cubs.

Polanco suffered a left facial contusion when he collided with the outfield fence on Friday, but he's feeling better now. He'll start in left field and bat second against John Lackey.
Sep 27 - 3:18 PM

Nationals manager Dusty Baker said Tuesday that Wilson Ramos was diagnosed with a torn ACL in his right knee.

He's obviously done for the year and will require surgery. Ramos previously tore the ACL and MCL in the very same knee back in 2012. It's absolutely brutal timing, not only with the playoffs days away, but also with him on the verge of hitting free agency. The 29-year-old was poised for a big payday after hitting .307/.354/.496 with 22 homers and 80 RBI over 131 games this season.
Sep 27 - 3:11 PM

Indians president Chris Antonetti said on MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM on Tuesday that Corey Kluber (groin) will undergo an MRI.

Kluber was forced to make an early exit from Monday's start against the Tigers due to right groin tightness, but Antonetti is optimistic that it's nothing serious. We should know for sure soon. The Indians' rotation has already taken multiple hits down the stretch, so obviously it would be a tremendous blow if he also needs to miss some time.
Sep 27 - 3:10 PM

Kris Bryant is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Pirates.

Addison Russell, Jason Heyward, and Willson Contreras are also getting some rest for the Cubs as they look for their 101st victory of the season. Tommy La Stella will start at third base while Javier Baez will play second. Chris Coghlan and Ben Zobrist are in the corner outfield spots and Miguel Montero is behind the plate.
