Colby Lewis (elbow) has been throwing three times per week.

Lewis, who is coming back from surgery to correct a torn flexor tendon in his throwing elbow, is up to making 30 throws from 60 feet. The Rangers have not set a firm timetable for his return, but if he can avoid setbacks, it should be sometime around June.

Jay Bruce had three hits -- including a go-ahead solo home run in the top of the 10th inning -- in Tuesday's win over the Cardinals.

Bruce had already driven in a run earlier in the game with what was ruled a triple on a ball that was misplayed by Marcell Ozuna. After Matt Bowman induced a double play to wipe out a leadoff single in the 10th, Bruce then deposited one over the center field wall. It's just his second longball of the season and first since April 5.

Blake Treinen has been diagnosed with a bruised right shin.

Treinen took a 105 mph line drive off the shin in the eighth inning of Tuesday night's win over the Rangers and hobbled off the field, but A's manager Bob Melvin said he expects his closer to be fine after Thursday's off day. Santiago Casilla earned his first save of the season Tuesday with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

Adrian Beltre has been diagnosed with a left hamstring strain.

Beltre will be reevaluated Wednesday, but this has disabled list written all over it. The veteran third baseman suffered the hamstring strain while running down the first base line on an RBI single in the eighth inning of Tuesday night's game against the Athletics.

Tyler Mahle took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and struck out a career-high 11 batters in Tuesday’s 9-7 extra-innings win over the Braves.

Mahle pumped it up to 97-98 mph in the sixth inning as he looked to preserve his no-hitter. As it turns out, it appeared that he might have emptied the tank that frame. The Braves went home run, double, home run to kick off the seventh inning to run the no-no and shutout and knock Mahle out of the game. He then lost out on a win when Raisel Iglesias blew a save. Still, the rough finish doesn’t diminish what was a dominating showing from the young right-hander. Mahle was already at nearly a strikeout per inning coming into this one even though he had a 5.14 ERA, but obviously he took it to another level Tuesday. His arrow is pointing up as he takes on the Twins in Minnesota on Sunday.
Apr 24 - 11:06 PM

Scooter Gennett hit his first two home runs of the season Tuesday, with the second one being a walk-off shot in the 12th inning versus the Braves.

Gennett followed Joey Votto's blast in the fifth inning with a dinger of his own, and he followed Votto's walk in the 12th with a walk-off blast that just cleared the wall in right field. He also had an additional hit and RBI. It made up for a play in the top of the ninth inning which should've been an error on Gennett that resulted in the Braves tying the game. The walk-off hit was the first of Gennett's career.

Gary Sanchez socked a pair of home runs and drove in three runs Tuesday against the Twins.

Sanchez popped a solo shot to the opposite field off of Jose Berrios in the second inning and then hit one over the center field wall off of Tyler Duffey in the seventh. It's the young catcher's second multi-homer game of the season and the ninth of his career. Sanchez has his average over the Mendoza line for the first time this season.
Apr 24 - 9:57 PM

Kyle Schwarber punished a pair of solo home runs Tuesday in Cleveland.

Schwarber took Josh Tomlin deep in the second inning and again in the fourth. The young left-handed swinger is up to six longballs on the season after the two-homer night, and his batting line is up to .302/.413/.635. It's quite a different start than the one he got off to last year.

Christian Villanueva (hamstring) likely won't return to the Padres' starting lineup before Friday.

Villanueva was scratched from the Padres' lineup Monday with a sore hamstring and he's not playing Tuesday either. "We just want to make sure he gets this behind him," manager Andy Green said Tuesday evening. "Then it probably leads to the question: If we don't play him tonight, is it even smart to play him tomorrow, because we get the off-day (Thursday) as well? Probably better judgement would prevail, and we'll see him in the lineup again on Friday."
Apr 24 - 9:19 PM

Tuesday night's game between the Pirates and Tigers has been postponed due to inclement weather in Pittsburgh.

Chad Kuhl was scheduled to face off against Jordan Zimmermann at PNC Park. They'll instead match up in the first half of a traditional doubleheader on Wednesday, with first pitch scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET.
Apr 24 - 8:46 PM

Xander Bogaerts (ankle) went 2-for-3 with a homer and a double Tuesday in his first rehab game at Triple-A Pawtucket.

Good stuff from the 25-year-old shortstop, who could be activated from the disabled list on Friday. Bogaerts is scheduled for another rehab game at Pawtucket on Wednesday and will then take the day off Thursday. He's been sidelined since April 9 with a small fracture in his left ankle.
Apr 24 - 7:55 PM

Rich Hill (finger) is expecting to return to the Dodgers' rotation Monday in Arizona.

Hill made it through a simulated game Tuesday without experiencing any issues with his cracked left middle fingernail. The veteran southpaw had a disappointing 6.00 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, and 16/7 K/BB ratio through 15 innings (three starts) this season with Los Angeles. He was placed on the disabled list April 15.
