According to Jim Bowden of ESPN.com and MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM, the Red Sox would like to sign Mike Napoli to a one-year contract.

The organization apparently wants to see how his hip holds up to the rigors of the season before guaranteeing multiple years on his contract. Talks between Napoli and Red Sox GM Ben Cherington are ongoing, and all signs point to a deal getting worked out eventually.

Corey Kluber earned his 18th win of the season Sunday in the Indians' 4-2 defeat of the Mariners.

Ben Gamel hit a two-run homer off Kluber in the bottom of the fifth, but it came after an inning-opening fielding error by shortstop Francisco Lindor so both runs were unearned. Kluber yielded only five other hits -- four of them singles -- and he struck out 10. The 31-year-old ace boasts a 2.27 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, and 262/36 K/BB ratio in 198 2/3 innings this season for the American League Central champions. His final regular-season start will come at home against the White Sox.

Khris Davis launched his 41st home run of the season Sunday in the Athletics' 8-1 victory over the Rangers.

Davis contributed a two-run jack to the A's five-run fifth inning. He also drew a walk in the game, finishing 1-for-3 with one run scored and two RBI. The 29-year-old left fielder has registered 83 home runs and 207 RBI in two seasons with Oakland and is looking at a big payout this winter as a second-year arbitration-eligible player.
Sep 24 - 7:07 PM

Aaron Judge hit his 47th and 48th homers of the season in a 9-5 loss to the Blue Jays on Sunday.

It's safe to say that the struggles of August are behind Judge. His first homer was a blast off of Marcos Stroman in the sixth, and one inning later he had a three-run shot off of Ryan Tepera. The automatic Rookie Of The Year now has 11 homers in the month of September. He's going to be just fine.
Sep 24 - 5:24 PM

Bryce Harper (knee) is expected to be activated from the disabled list on Monday.

Harper has been playing in simulated games without issue and will get some regular at-bats in big league games in an effort to prepare himself for the postseason. The 24-year-old superstar was hitting .326/.419/.614 with 29 homers and 87 RBI in 106 games before going down with the knee injury.
Sep 24 - 5:23 PM

Jose Quintana pitched his first shutout since 2015 in the Cubs' 5-0 defeat of the Brewers on Sunday.

Quintana was absolutely terrific in this one, holding a dangerous Brewers offense to three singles and one walk while tallying 10 strikeouts. The 28-year-old left-hander now boasts a 3.50 ERA in 79 2/3 innings since joining the Cubs and Sunday's double-digit strikeout game helped him notch the first 200-strikeout season of his career. He'll wrap up the regular season with a start at home against the last-place Reds.
Sep 24 - 5:13 PM

Lucas Giolito fired seven innings of one-run ball Sunday as the White Sox routed the Royals 8-1.

Giolito gave up a solo homer to Lorenzo Cain in the top of the fourth inning but he was otherwise brilliant, yielding just four other hits -- one double, three singles -- while issuing zero walks and striking out five. The talented 23-year-old boasts a 2.38 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and 34/12 K/BB ratio over his first 45 1/3 innings (seven starts) with Chicago. Giolito finishes 2017 with a road start next weekend against the Indians, who will probably be resting some regulars.
Sep 24 - 5:07 PM

Felipe Rivero earned his 19th save of the season Sunday afternoon against the Cardinals.

Rivero retired all three batters he faced in the top of the ninth inning, two via strikeout. The hard-throwing 26-year-old left-hander owns an excellent 1.72 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and 86/20 K/BB ratio in 73 1/3 innings this season with Pittsburgh and he should rank as a top-tier fantasy closer (or close to it) leading into 2018.
Sep 24 - 4:45 PM

Mookie Betts went 1-for-4 with three runs knocked in during a 5-4 victory over the Reds on Sunday.

After missing Saturday's game, Betts was back in the Boston lineup on Sunday, and he had one of the biggest hits of the game. Down 4-2, he knocked in two on a two-run double to tie the game at 4-4, and he scored the game-winning run on a single by Rafael Devers. It gives Betts 99 RBI on the year, and while he's hitting just .263, he's shown that he's a quality run-producer in the potent Red Sox lineup.
Sep 24 - 4:37 PM

Max Scherzer gave up just one run in six innings while striking out 10 in a 3-2 victory over the Mets on Sunday.

Scherzer was dominant over his six innings, and probably could have gone an inning or two more, but there's no point in risking anything with the Nationals locked into their playoff spots. Scherzer is scheduled to make another start on Saturday against the Phillies, but there's no guarantee that he'll make that start with the playoffs starting the week after.

An MRI has revealed that Miguel Cabrera is dealing with two herniated discs in his back.

Cabrera has battled back issues for the bulk of the season, so it's conceivable to think he's been playing with two herniated discs for a long time. It would certainly offer at least some explanation as to why he's batted just .249/.329/.399 with 16 home runs. Cabrera will receive treatment and could play again this season, although if he does it would almost surely be as a designated hitter. Fantasy owners can feel free to cut him loose.
Sep 24 - 3:51 PM

Justin Turner (thumb) remained out of the Dodgers' lineup Sunday.

Turner hasn't played since Thursday due to a bruised right thumb and has also been under the weather recently. The thumb ailment doesn't seem like a big issue, but the Dodgers have already clinched and have no need to push their third baseman. Logan Forsythe is at the hot corner Sunday and Chase Utley is at second base.
