Carlos Gonzalez went 2-for-5 with a homer and four RBI in Friday’s victory over the Mets.

CarGo got the Rockies on the board with an RBI double in the first inning before slugging a long three-run blast (an estimated 448 feet) in the ninth inning to put the game out of reach. He has now hit safely in 11 straight games, though this was his first multi-hit game since July 18. He’s hitting .317/.369/.549 through 99 games on the year to go along with 21 homers and 66 RBI. Trade chatter has been quiet in recent days with the Rockies playing well.

Tyler Collins homered, tripled and drove home three runs on Friday as the Tigers routed the Astros 14-6 in the opening game of a three-game weekend set in Detroit.

Collins clubbed a three-run homer that capped off a seven-run second inning to put the Tigers ahead 9-2. He then tripled and scored a run in the fifth inning. Even with his two-hit attack, Collins is hitting just .204/.235/.449 with three homers and nine RBI on the season, and he's likely headed for a trip back to Triple-A Toledo once J.D. Martinez completes his rehab assignment.
Jul 29 - 10:38 PM

Edwin Encarnacion socked his 28th home run of the season on Friday, powering the Blue Jays to a 6-5 victory over the visiting Orioles.

Encarnacion hit one of three first-inning solo shots off O's starter Kevin Gausman, as Jose Bautista and Troy Tulowitzki also tagged him. Encarnacion also doubled and walked in the contest, finishing the night 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored. He's now hitting .265/.357/.549 with 28 bombs and a league-leading 88 RBI on the season.
Jul 29 - 10:22 PM

Todd Frazier was a late scratch from the White Sox starting lineup on Friday due to flu-like symptoms.

Fantasy owners will be sad to miss out on a matchup against Ricky Nolasco. Tyler Saladino will start in his place at third base and bat eighth for the White Sox.
Jul 29 - 8:19 PM

Jayson Stark of ESPN reports that there may be a blockbuster three-team trade in the works between the Dodgers, Reds and a mystery club that would send Jay Bruce to the Dodgers.

No team is linked to more rumors at this time of the year than the vaunted "mystery team", but it sounds as though the Dodgers are hellbent on acquiring the Reds' slugger. It's looking increasingly likely that Bruce will be wearing a new uniform in August.
Jul 29 - 7:28 PM

John Lester was dominant in Friday's victory over the Mariners, racking up seven strikeouts over six shutout innings.

The veteran southpaw scattered four hits and a pair of walks on the afternoon. He has been tremendous for the Cubs this season, registering a 2.95 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 125/38 K/BB ratio over 128 1/3 innings while posting an 11-4 record. He'll look to replicate this fine outing when he does battle against the Marlins on Wednesday.
Jul 29 - 6:59 PM

Yasiel Puig (hamstring) remained out of the Dodgers' lineup Friday.

He hasn't played in a week due to a strained hamstring and a disabled list stint could be in the offing. Andrew Toles is handling right field.
Jul 29 - 5:42 PM

Jhonny Peralta (thumb) is on track to be activated from the disabled list on Tuesday, the first day he's eligible.

Peralta is not expected to go out on a rehab assignment, as he'll just rehab his thumb with some baseball activities over the weekend. The veteran infielder has been out of action with soreness in his surgically-repaired left thumb.
Jul 29 - 5:24 PM

Matt Carpenter (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Springfield on Sunday.

If all goes well, Carpenter is expected to be activated from the disabled list next Friday. The infielder has been on the shelf for the last three weeks with a strained right oblique.
Jul 29 - 5:21 PM

Ryan Braun (side) remained out of the Brewers' lineup Friday.

Braun has had trouble getting loose the last few days, feeling some tightness in his right side. At this point it's not considered more than a day-to-day injury. Jake Elmore is in left field Friday.

RotoGrinders.com Daily Slant: Braun's absence is great news for Steven Brault, but the Brewers still possess multiple RH bats that should give him trouble. Chris Carter and Jonathan Lucroy will shift up one spot in the order with Hernan Perez batting fifth and Jake Elmore slotting second. Perez is arguably the sneakiest target of the group; he owns a very solid .348 wOBA, .256 ISO and 39.4 hard% against southpaws in 2016 and has added 16 SBs despite limited playing time earlier in the season. Elmore is a viable punt play batting second, but he doesn't have much of a ceiling.
Jul 29 - 5:01 PM

Carlos Gomez (hamstring) hopes to return to the lineup on Sunday.

Gomez injured his right hamstring in Wednesday's win over the Yankees. He underwent an MRI, which apparently revealed just a minor strain. Gomez said Friday that he's feeling better and hopes to be ready to go later this weekend. Jake Marisnick is in center field Friday.
