Pirates re-signed C Miguel Perez to a minor league contract.

Perez was limited to four games with the Pirates' Triple-A affiliate in 2012 and has a career .268/.322/.341 batting line in parts of 11 seasons in the minors. He's merely organizational depth.

Jose De Leon tallied 13 strikeouts over 7 2/3 scoreless innings Sunday with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

De Leon walked none and yielded just four hits in the brilliant outing, which helped the OKC Dodgers clinch their second straight Pacific Coast League American Northern Division title. The 24-year-old right-hander now boasts a 2.61 ERA, 0.938 WHIP, and 111/20 K/BB ratio in 86 1/3 innings (16 starts) this season at Triple-A. It's a surprise he's not already in the majors. Maybe it will happen next month.

Pirates activated RHP Tyler Glasnow from the 15-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Indianapolis.

This might be nothing more than a procedural move with major league rosters due to expand September 1. Glasnow walked three but struck out six over three scoreless innings last Monday with Double-A Altoona. It's not clear whether his next start will be in Indianapolis or with Pittsburgh. The talented 23-year-old been out since July 24 because of right shoulder discomfort.

According to FOX Sports' Jon Morosi, Tim Tebow's baseball workout Tuesday in Los Angeles will be attended by scouts from "roughly half" of the 30 major league teams.

Tebow is a serious guy and has been training in Arizona and Southern California for nearly a year, but the fact remains that he's a 29-year-old who hasn't played competitive baseball since high school. The former NFL quarterback and 2007 Heisman Trophy winner faces incredibly long odds of even lasting with a low-level minor league club. One scout told ESPN.com last week that Tebow's swing is so long it might "take out the front row." That's not a good thing.

Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports that Homer Bailey is dealing with right biceps tendinitis.

Bailey left Sunday's debacle of a start after just one inning, and now we know it wasn't just ineffectiveness that led to the early hook. The good news is that his elbow feels fine, though the Reds may opt to skip his next start just to err on the side of caution.

Joe Panik crushed a pair of home runs and drove home four as the Giants routed the Braves 13-4 in San Francisco on Sunday afternoon.

Panik gave the Giants the lead with a solo shot off of Braves starter Aaron Blair in the second inning, then increased that advantage with a towering two-run drive his next trip to the plate. He finished the day 3-for-4 and is now slashing .251/.329/.407 with 10 long balls and 52 RBI on the season.

Nolan Arenado was perfect in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Nationals, finishing 4-for-4 with a two-run home run and three total RBI.

Arenado opened his immaculate afternoon with an RBI single in the first inning. He would crunch a two-run homer in the third. The star third baseman finished a double shy of the cycle. For the 2016 campaign as a whole, he is hitting a beautiful .291/.361/.576 with 35 homers and 111 RBI over 495 at-bats. On the micro level, he has homered in five of his last 10 games.

Derek Holland hurled six innings of one-run ball Sunday in the Rangers' 2-1 defeat of the Indians.

The one run he gave up came on a Jason Kipnis RBI single in the top of the sixth inning. Holland was otherwise excellent, yielding only four total hits -- all singles -- while walking none and whiffing five. The left-hander has put together two very good pitching lines since returning August 23 from a two-month shoulder injury. A start at home against the Astros is next.

Chris Archer struck out 10 batters over seven innings Sunday in the Rays' 10-4 rout of the Astros.

Archer was charged with three earned runs, but they came on just four hits and two walks. It was his first double-digit strikeout game since July 20. Archer, 27, now stands 8-17 with a 4.10 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and 202/60 K/BB ratio in 169 innings this season. A start at home against the Blue Jays is next.

Khris Davis slugged his 34th home run of the year Sunday in the Athletics' 7-4 victory at St. Louis.

It was a two-run shot in the top of the first inning that set the tone for the afternoon. Davis later drew a walk and scored his second run of the game on a three-run shot from Stephen Vogt. The 28-year-old outfielder is setting himself up for a nice payday in his first turn through salary arbitration this winter.

Tony Watson notched his 10th save Sunday in the Pirates' 3-1 defeat of the Brewers.

That concluded a big four-game sweep for the Bucs, who are very much alive in the National League Wild Card race despite selling off veteran closer Mark Melancon (and starter Francisco Liriano) at the August 1 trade deadline. Watson has converted 10 straight saves this month since Melancon's departure. The lefty has a 2.57 ERA for the year.

Kevin Gausman was sharp in Sunday's 5-0 win over the Yankees, striking out nine over seven shutout innings.

Gausman wasn't unhittable -- he scattered seven of them -- but this was perhaps his best overall start of the season. The flame-throwing right-hander did not walk a batter on the afternoon and finished his seven brilliant innings having thrown 108 pitches (75 strikes). Gausman has not allowed a run in either of his past two starts. For the season as a whole, the 25-year-old holds a 3.73 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 140/38 K/BB ratio over 140 innings. The Yankees will have the displeasure of facing him again in Camden Yards next time he takes the mound.
