Indians and UTIL Mike Aviles avoided arbitration by agreeing to a two-year, $6 million contract.

He also hit a two-run single to finish off the scoring in that eight-run opening frame before doubling in the bottom of the fourth and collecting his sixth RBI of the afternoon on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth. Ryan Raburn needs surgery to repair damaged meniscus in his left knee.

He's done for the year. Raburn was a pleasant surprise for the Indians last season, but he'll finish 2014 with a disappointing .200/.250/.297 batting line and four home runs over 74 games. The 33-year-old is under contract for $2.5 million next season.

Shin-Soo Choo had torn cartilage and a small bone spur removed from his left ankle Wednesday.

Choo should be fully recovered in 6-8 weeks. The 32-year-old already underwent season-ending surgery late last month for bone spurs his left elbow. He'll look to rebound in 2015 from a disappointing first season in Texas where he batted just .242/.340/.374 with 13 home runs and four stolen bases over 123 games.

Brandon Moss is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Rangers.

Josh Hamilton is out of the Angels' lineup Wednesday against the Mariners.

Hamilton went 1-for-3 with a single Tuesday in his first game back from a right shoulder injury. Cron plays first base.

John Lackey (arm) is scheduled to pitch in Friday's series-opener against the Reds.

Michael Wacha (shoulder) will return to the Cardinals' rotation Saturday against the Reds.

Wacha reported feeling "great" after a 30-pitch bullpen session on Sunday and then extended himself without issue in another bullpen session Wednesday, so he's been given the go-ahead to pitch this weekend versus the visiting Reds.
