Hill will be in the running for a bullpen job this spring in Indians camp. The veteran southpaw posted a promising 1.83 ERA in 19 2/3 innings with Boston last season.

Walker Buehler didn't get a decision, but fired five scoreless innings in a 2-1 victory over the Marlins on Monday.

Buehler did give up four hits and three walks over those five innings, but he struck out five and was able to make big pitches in his first ever MLB start. the 23-year-old is likely headed back to Oklahoma City to get valuable innings, but the Dodgers will need his services again in 2018 most likely. We saw a glimpse of what makes him one of the best pitching prospects in baseball on Monday.

Trea Turner went 2-for-5 with a triple and a stolen base in a loss to the Giants on Monday.

The triple was the first of the year, and the steal was the speedy shortstop's ninth of the season. The numbers still aren't where fantasy owners would like them -- especially those who invested early in the 24-year-old -- but Turner is slowly but surely showing the talent that makes him one of the better fantasy shortstops in baseball. Remain patient.
Apr 24 - 1:18 AM

Mac Williamson went 1-for-4 with a homer and knocked in three runs in a 4-2 victory over the Nationals on Monday.

The homer was a two-run shot off of Shawn Kelly with a runner on to give the Giants a 4-1 lead, and he also knocked in a run on a fielder's choice earlier in the game. He's hit two homers since being recalled from Triple-A Sacramento, and he's shown power potential in his right-handed bat in his time in the San Francisco organization. He's just not likely to get enough playing time -- or hit for a high enough average -- to be a viable fantasy bat.
Apr 24 - 1:04 AM

Eric Hosmer went 2-for-2 with four walks in a 13-5 crushing of the Rockies on Monday.

Hosmer also scored two runs, and he drove in two for good measure. The former Kansas City all-star now has his on-base percentage up to .364 after the big game, but his .259 average and .412 slugging percentage leave a lot to be desired. Expect to see more hits drop for Hosmer as the season progresses, and hopefully we see a power increase to go along with it.

Indians signed OF Melky Cabrera to a minor league contract.

The news was first reported by Hector Gomez of Z101 Digital and confirmed by MLB.com's Jon Morosi. Cabrera, 33, batted .285/.324/.423 with 17 home runs and 85 RBI last season for the White Sox and Royals. He will need some time in the minors to knock the rust off but should be added to the Indians' roster sometime next month and see at-bats in right field.
Apr 23 - 11:23 PM

Didi Gregorius launched a grand slam in the Yankees' rout of the Twins on Monday.

Gregorius was the only Yankees hitter who had not reached base when he stepped to the plate in the bottom of the eighth inning and he quickly righted that wrong with a four-run bomb to right-center field. The 28-year-old shortstop has an outstanding .324/.429/.746 batting line with seven home runs in 21 games this season, and he leads all major league hitters with 24 RBI.
Apr 23 - 10:59 PM

Giancarlo Stanton finished 4-for-4 with a homer, a walk, two RBI, and three runs scored Monday in the Yankees' 14-1 rout of the Twins.

Stanton drew a six-pitch walk in his first plate appearance, singled in his second plate appearance, belted a long solo homer in his third plate appearance, hit an RBI single in his fourth plate appearance, and then added another single for good measure in his fifth and final plate appearance. It's just the sixth time in Stanton's career that he has reached base five times in a single game. His batting average jumped from .185 to .224, and his OPS rose from .678 to .778. The 28-year-old slugger is going to be just fine.

Eugenio Suarez (thumb) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

That means he'll play a game just 16 days after suffering a fractured left thumb, an injury that routinely takes players six-plus weeks to come back from. How many rehab games Suarez will require isn't known, but as long as he feels good it shouldn't take many since he didn't wind up missing much time.
Apr 23 - 10:36 PM

Raisel Iglesias earned his third save of the season Monday in the Reds' 10-4 win over the Braves.

Iglesias entered the game in the top of the eighth inning, when the Braves were still within striking distance. He retired all four batters he faced, including a strikeout of Preston Tucker in the top of the ninth. The 28-year-old closer holds a sharp 0.93 ERA, 0.72 WHIP, and 13 strikeouts through 9 2/3 innings this season.
Apr 23 - 9:57 PM

Cody Allen struck out all three batters he faced to earn his fourth save of the season Monday night against the Orioles.

Allen carved up Chris Davis, Danny Valencia, and Chance Sisco to ice a 2-1 victory for Cleveland. The 29-year-old closer now has 12 strikeouts in 10 innings this season and he's yet to allow a run.
Apr 23 - 9:41 PM

Carlos Carrasco worked 7 1/3 innings of one-run ball Monday in a win over the Orioles.

Carrasco scattered six hits and two walks while striking out seven. He's now 4-0 on the year with a brilliant 2.31 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, and 28/6 K/BB ratio in 35 innings. Up next is a start at home against the Mariners.
