Mariners signed RHP Felix Hernandez to a seven-year, $175 million contract extension.

The final step was a pre-signing physical on Tuesday afternoon. Details of the extension will be formally announced during a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, but CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the reported terms from last week remain the same. The new deal, which replaces the two years and $39.5 million remaining on King Felix's previous contract, will run through the 2019 season. There was a report over the weekend about a possible elbow issue, but it appears the matter was quickly resolved by the Mariners adding some protective language in the contract.

A.J. Ramos underwent season-ending surgery on his right shoulder Wednesday in New York.

Mets medical director Dr. David Altchek performed the procedure at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Ramos wound up logging just 19 2/3 innings this season, to the tune of a 6.41 ERA, 1.63 WHIP, and 22/15 K/BB ratio. The 31-year-old right-hander will be a free agent this winter and might have to settle for a low-base-salary, one-year deal if his rehab lingers into the spring.

Austin Meadows (foot) is starting in right field and batting second Wednesday versus the Brewers.

Meadows was held out of the Pirates' starting lineup on Tuesday night due to a sore right foot, though he did appear as a pinch-hitter. The 23-year-old rookie boasts a .323/.347/.591 batting line with five home runs, 11 RBI, three stolen bases, and 12 runs scored through his first 27 major league games. Gregory Polanco and Corey Dickerson are both on the Pirates' bench Wednesday with the Brewers throwing left-hander Brent Suter.
Jun 20 - 3:07 PM

Johnny Cueto (elbow) could begin a minor league rehab assignment as early as Saturday.

A more detailed plan will be laid out after Cueto plays catch on Thursday. He's already thrown a number of bullpen sessions, and he faced live batters earlier this week without issue. The veteran right-hander had a stellar 0.84 ERA and 0.69 WHIP in five starts with the Giants when he landed on the disabled list May 1 with a sprained right elbow.
Jun 20 - 2:53 PM

Wil Myers (oblique) could return to the Padres' active roster this weekend in San Francisco.

Myers is batting .300 with a .900 OPS, one home run, and three doubles through five minor league rehab games (20 plate appearances) with the Triple-A El Paso Chihuahuas. The 27-year-old has made just 40 plate appearances this season for San Diego due to oblique and arm issues, but he is fully capable of putting up big-time fantasy numbers over the final three months.
Jun 20 - 2:46 PM

Michael Wacha has been diagnosed with a left oblique strain.

At least it's not the shoulder? Wacha suffered the oblique muscle strain during his start Wednesday afternoon against the Phillies, in which he surrendered three runs -- one earned -- on six hits and two walks over 3 2/3 innings before departing. The 26-year-old right-hander is almost certainly headed for the disabled list and could miss around 3-4 weeks. He holds a 3.20 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 71/36 K/BB ratio in 84 1/3 innings this season with St. Louis. The options to replace him include John Gant, Daniel Poncedeleon, and Dakota Hudson.
Jun 20 - 2:41 PM

Khris Davis is out of the Athletics' starting lineup on Wednesday because of a stomach bug.

But he is available off the bench and should be a full-go for Thursday night's series opener against the White Sox. Chad Pinder is starting in left field and batting second Wednesday afternoon in San Diego.
Jun 20 - 2:23 PM

Franchy Cordero has been diagnosed with a bone spur in his right elbow and may need surgery.

Cordero began a minor league rehab assignment last week at Triple-A El Paso, having recovered from a mild forearm strain, but he felt something in his elbow on a hard swing over the weekend and was sent for an MRI on Tuesday, which revealed the bone spur. If he does undergo surgery, he will miss at least a couple of months, and possibly the remainder of the 2018 season. The dynamic 23-year-old outfielder was batting .237/.307/.439 with seven home runs and five stolen bases through 40 games with San Diego.
Jun 20 - 2:18 PM

Noah Syndergaard (finger) is expected to throw a bullpen session this weekend.

It will be his first mound workout since he suffered a setback with the strained ligament in his right index finger on June 7. Syndergaard resumed playing catch earlier this week and has not had any issues thus far, but there won't be a timetable for his return to the Mets' rotation until he clears a couple more hurdles. The 25-year-old was originally placed on the disabled list back on May 26.
Jun 20 - 2:15 PM

Padres activated LHP Joey Lucchesi from the 10-day disabled list.

Lucchesi will rejoin the Padres' starting rotation on Wednesday afternoon against the Athletics after missing over a month with a right hip strain. He threw four hitless innings in a rehab start last Thursday at High-A Lake Elsinore and returns to a 3.23 ERA, 1.225 WHIP, and 48/15 K/BB ratio in 47 1/3 innings with San Diego. The rookie left-hander is safe for immediate activation in fantasy leagues.
Jun 20 - 12:58 PM

Lonnie Chisenhall was scratched from the Indians' lineup Wednesday due to soreness in both of his calves.

Chisenhall just missed nearly two months with a right calf strain, so this obviously raises some red flags. Tyler Naquin will move to right field, with Rajai Davis now playing center field and batting ninth versus the White Sox.
Jun 20 - 12:31 PM

Yu Darvish (triceps) threw a 51-pitch simulated game on Wednesday afternoon at Wrigley Field.

Darvish used his entire arsenal during the three-inning sim game and showed good velocity, per a couple of Cubs beat writers. The next step for the 31-year-old right-hander could be a minor league rehab appearance, and then he should be cleared to return to the Cubs' starting rotation. Darvish has been on the disabled list since May 23 due to tendinitis in his right triceps.
