Hyun-Jin Ryu struggled to make it through a conditioning workout Thursday in Dodgers camp, according to beat writer Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times.

Hernandez writes that Ryu "appeared completely unshaken" by how poorly he did and told reporters that workouts for baseball players are very different in his native Korea. "I'm still really healthy and all that matters is how I pitch," the left-hander said through his interpreter. The Dodgers paid a total of $61.7 million for Ryu this offseason between the posting fee and MLB contract.

Yunel Escobar (knee) went through a full workout Friday and the hope is that he'll return to the lineup this weekend.

Escobar is out of the lineup for the seventh straight game, but the Angels are optimistic that he'll be ready to go on Saturday or Sunday. If he's not, the disabled list will finally be considered at that point.
Jul 1 - 5:16 PM

David Peralta (back) took 30 swings off a tee on Friday.

It's the first time he's swung the bat since going on the disabled list two and a half weeks ago with a lower back sprain. Peralta will hit off a tee again Saturday and also take some soft-toss. It's possible he'll be ready to take batting practice by Monday.
Jul 1 - 5:08 PM

Stephen Piscotty (foot) remained out of the Cardinals' lineup Friday.

The good news is he's available off the bench and should be back in there Saturday. Brandon Moss is in right field Friday.
Jul 1 - 4:24 PM

Aledmys Diaz (eye) is back in the Cardinals' lineup Friday.

Diaz missed a few days of action after a pitch he foul-tipped bounced off the dirt and caught him above the eye. He's batting second and playing shortstop against Matt Garza and the Brewers.
Jul 1 - 4:20 PM

Alex Colome (biceps) hopes to throw a bullpen session on Sunday.

Colome played catch without issue Thursday and will do it again Friday. He thinks there's a chance he'll be activated on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. "For sure... Maybe," Colome said.
Jul 1 - 3:50 PM

Jason Heyward (side) is back in the Cubs' lineup Friday.

Heyward missed a couple days of action with some tightness in his left side. He's in right field and batting second against Jacob deGrom and the Mets.
Jul 1 - 3:40 PM

Curtis Granderson (calf) is not expected to return to the lineup this weekend.

The good news is that it's not expected to be a disabled list situation. The Mets have Brandon Nimmo in right field and in the leadoff spot again Friday, while Kelly Johnson is handling left.
Jul 1 - 3:29 PM

Hanley Ramirez (side) is not in the Red Sox' lineup Friday.

Ramirez's side tightened up on him after a swing Wednesday, forcing him from the game. The good news is he was nearly put in the lineup Friday, so he should be back sometime over the weekend. The Red Sox have Travis Shaw at first base and Marco Hernandez at third.
Jul 1 - 3:08 PM

The Nationals have not yet ruled out Stephen Strasburg (back) starting on Sunday against the Reds.

Manager Dusty Baker said that Strasburg is feeling good and wants to make the start, but the club is still trying to decide whether they should hold him back a bit longer. While Lucas Giolito does still seem like a pretty good bet for Sunday, it does seem like there's a much better chance for Strasburg to take the ball than there was a day or two ago.
Jul 1 - 2:36 PM

Twins optioned DH Byung-ho Park to Triple-A Rochester.

The writing had been on the wall, as Park was really struggling and receiving less and less playing time. He's batted just .191/.275/.409 on the season and only .123/.208/.236 over his last 30 games. He'll hope to iron out his issues at Rochester and earn another opportunity.
Jul 1 - 12:40 PM

Twins activated 3B/OF Miguel Sano from the 15-day disabled list.

Sano missed a month of action with a strained hamstring but is ready to go after eight rehab games. He would appear to be in line to receive most of his at-bats in the designated hitter spot with Byung-ho Park being optioned to Triple-A Rochester. Max Kepler should continue playing regularly in right field.
