Mat Gamel had to cut Saturday's workout short after aggravating his surgically-repaired right knee.

The Brewers are being extremely cautious with Gamel's recovery this early in camp, but it's clear that something is wrong. Look for the team to release an update on his status shortly. If healthy, Gamel will serve as the Brewers' primary first baseman this season while Corey Hart (knee) spends a month or so on the disabled list.

Asdrubal Cabrera (groin) is not in the Rays' starting lineup on Monday night versus the Mariners.

Cabrera was forced from Sunday's series finale against the A's with a mild groin strain. He's considered day-to-day. Tim Beckham is at shortstop on Monday.
May 25 - 2:51 PM

Steven Souza (wrist) is not in the Rays' starting lineup on Monday evening against the Mariners.

Souza suffered a sprained left wrist Sunday in a nasty collision at home plate with A's catcher Stephen Vogt and is considered day-to-day for now. Brandon Guyer is starting in right field and Jake Elmore is in left field in Monday's series opener versus Seattle.
May 25 - 2:49 PM

Rays placed 1B James Loney on the 15-day disabled list with a broken finger.

It was initially called a sprain, but further testing revealed the fracture. It's not clear how long Loney might be out. Tampa Bay will use a mix of players at first base. Logan Forsythe is starting there Monday night.
May 25 - 2:39 PM

Sean Doolittle (shoulder) is expected to return from the disabled list on Tuesday.

Doolittle has spent the first two months of the 2015 regular season rehabbing a slight tear in his left rotator cuff. He allowed five runs in five innings on his rehab assignment, so the A's will likely ease him back into high-leverage situations. The 28-year-old southpaw should eventually take over for Tyler Clippard at closer.
May 25 - 2:05 PM

Blue Jays activated SS Jose Reyes from the 15-day disabled list.

Reyes is back with the Jays after missing four weeks with a cracked rib. He went 4-for-11 with two RBI on a three-game rehab assignment at Triple-A Buffalo and should be activated immediately in fantasy leagues. The veteran shortstop was batting just .250/.266/.300 in 16 games before the injury, but he can get it going in a hurry.
May 25 - 2:01 PM

Rangers placed RHP Neftali Feliz on the 15-day disabled list with an axillary abscess on his right side.

That doesn't sound very fun. Feliz was dumped from the Rangers' ninth-inning role in mid-May and Shawn Tolleson has handled the club's last three save opportunities with relative ease. Tolleson, who boasts a 29/4 K/BB ratio in 20 1/3 innings this season, is clearly the guy to own now from the Texas bullpen. There is no timetable for Neftali's return to action.
May 25 - 1:52 PM

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said Monday that Miguel Cabrera has been dealing with a "cranky ankle."

That's part of the reason for his absence Monday, though Ausmus said it's only a minor thing. Cabrera should return to the Tigers' starting lineup on Tuesday night. Hernan Perez is starting at first base for Detroit in Monday's series opener at Oakland's Coliseum.
May 25 - 1:27 PM

Brett Lawrie is out of the A's lineup again Monday.

Lawrie hasn't played since Friday, and A's manager Bob Melvin acknowledged Sunday that the 25-year-old is "a little banged up." Max Muncy will handle the hot corner in Monday's afternoon opener against the Tigers.
May 25 - 1:14 PM

Athletics activated UTIL Ben Zobrist from the 15-day disabled list.

Zobrist wound up missing just under four weeks following arthroscopic knee surgery. It was initially expected that he would be out until the middle of June. The versatile 33-year-old had batted .240/.304/.400 with one home run, five doubles, eight RBI, and eight runs scored through his first 14 games this season.
May 25 - 1:02 PM

Rangers activated OF Josh Hamilton from the 15-day disabled list.

Hamilton is starting in left field and batting fifth Monday in his first game for the Rangers since the 2012 American League Wild Card round. The 34-year-old batted .364/.391/.545 with five doubles, one home run, six RBI, and nine runs scored on his 12-game minor league rehab assignment, and he's a good bet for high-level fantasy production back with Texas. Get him active in all standard fantasy leagues.
May 25 - 12:56 PM

Jose Iglesias (knee) is not in the Tigers' starting lineup Monday afternoon in Oakland.

Dixon Machado will get the nod at shortstop and bat ninth. Iglesias injured his knee Saturday when he collided with Chris Carter of the Astros. An MRI ruled out any structural damage, but he has a bad bruise.
