Joel Peralta (neck) threw a successful 25-pitch bullpen session on Monday morning in Rays camp.

Peralta had to withdraw from the 2013 World Baseball Classic because of a minor neck injury that he suffered last week while getting out of his car to buy a sandwich. But he should be fully recovered by Opening Day.

Donovan Solano reached base in all five plate appearances in Tuesday's win over the Braves, drawing a walk, hitting a double, and tallying three singles.

It's the first four-hit game of Solano's career. The Marlins could only bring him around to score once, however. Solano hasn't had much to write home about at the plate otherwise, as his slash line has improved to a still-paltry .261/.309/.322 with one home run and 12 RBI in 126 plate appearances.

Jose Reyes stole a base, homered, and doubled in a run in five at-bats as the Jays slugged their way to a win against the Red Sox on Tuesday.

For Reyes, the two extra-base hits equaled his total over the previous two weeks. His solo shot in the sixth inning off of Jake Peavy gave the Jays a 2-0 lead. He added some insurance in the eighth with an RBI double to make it 7-1. The shortstop is now sporting a .276/.326/.420 slash line with eight home runs, 32 RBI, and 19 stolen bases.

Manny Machado was scratched from Tuesday's lineup with lower back tightness.

It's probably safe to call him day-to-day, but the Orioles don't want to take any chances with their stud young third baseman. Machado was replaced at third base by Ryan Flaherty.

ESPN's Jim Bowden reports that the Reds and Phillies "continue trade talks" involving Marlon Byrd.

Byrd has been linked to the Reds, Royals and Mariners this month and he's a good bet to be traded. The veteran outfielder has proved this year that his power outburst in 2013 was no fluke, hitting 19 homers over 98 games. He's making $8 million this season and in 2015 and has an $8 million club/vesting option for 2016.

Scooter Gennett left Tuesday's game against the Reds with right quad tightness.

It's not clear how Gennett was injured. He was hitless in two at-bats before being replaced by Rickie Weeks in the fifth inning. The Brewers should provide more clarity on Gennett's status after the game.

Pedro Alvarez exited Tuesday's game against the Dodgers with left knee discomfort.

It's not clear when Alvarez was injured, nor is it clear how long he might be out, but the Pirates should provide an update after the game. The third baseman had a double in two at-bats and committed his league-leading 22nd error before leaving.

George Springer (knee, quad) remained out of the Astros' lineup Tuesday.

It's the second straight game he's missed. When asked whether he feels more pain in his knee or quad, Springer said, "I just have overall kind of discomfort." An MRI revealed no structural damage, so for now the young outfielder remains day-to-day. "You have to say to yourself 'He's not going to play within the next 15 days,'" manager Bo Porter said of a possible DL stint for Springer. "We're not at that point right now."

MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports that the Marlins are likelier to extend Casey McGehee than trade him.

McGehee is a sell high candidate if there ever was one, but the Marlins evidently want to keep him around. The third baseman is eligible for arbitration this winter for a final time, so the Marlins wouldn't necessarily have to extend McGehee in order to keep him around for another year. McGehee, who has drawn interest from the Mariners, among other clubs, is batting .322 with 56 RBI this season.

Alex Rios (ankle) is expected to return to the lineup on Wednesday.

Rios tested out his sore right ankle prior to Tuesday's game and said he's fine, but Rangers manager Ron Washington elected to hold the outfielder out for a third straight game. "It felt good," Rios said. "I know Wash wanted to give me an extra day, but I'm ready. I expect to be as good as ever."

Lynn Henning of the Detroit News reports that Joel Hanrahan (elbow) is "still a longshot" to pitch for the Tigers this season.

Making his way back from Tommy John surgery, Hanrahan is throwing bullpen sessions in extended spring training but has yet to face hitters and it's not clear when he might be ready to do so. The veteran reliever was only guaranteed $1 million by the Tigers, so while his lack of progress is disappointing, it's not a big blow.

Taijuan Walker will be recalled to start on Wednesday versus the Mets.

Walker has put up a 3.60 ERA while striking out nine over 10 innings in his two starts for the Mariners this season. With James Paxton (lat) slated to return pretty soon, Walker likely has to pitch well in order to remain in the rotation. Still, he makes for a nice streaming option Wednesday at the very least.
