Chad Billingsley surrendered five hits and two earned runs over two innings Monday against the Cubs.

It's usually foolish to read too much into early-spring performances, but Billingsley is a unique case because he is still recovering from a partially torn UCL in his right elbow. He'll need to do better to prove to the Dodgers that he is physically prepared for the regular season.

Dodgers director of player development Gabe Kapler announced Wednesday that Erisbel Arruebarrena has been suspended for the rest of the season "for repeated failure to comply with the terms of his contract."

This is the same thing the Dodgers tried to do last May, but a grievance was filed and the suspension was reduced to 30 days. It might be best if these two parties simply go their separate ways, though the Dodgers still owe Arruebarrena around $17.5 million. The 26-year-old infielder was signed out of Cuba in 2013 and has been a major disappointment both off and on the field. He was slashing .182/.224/.400 with four home runs and 21 strikeouts in 17 games this season at Double-A Tulsa.

Ben Revere (oblique) is expected to rejoin the Nationals on Thursday at Wrigley Field.

Revere played a full nine innings of center field Tuesday in his fifth minor league rehab game and came out of it feeling fine. He's been on the disabled list since suffering a strained oblique in the Nationals' regular-season opener. Michael Taylor and Jayson Werth are probably both looking at a reduction in playing time with Revere returning to starting center field duties.
May 4 - 12:31 PM

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Wednesday that he has increasing interest in free agent Tim Lincecum.

Lincecum is scheduled to throw a showcase for interested teams on Friday in Arizona, and over 20 major league clubs are expected to have a representative in attendance. Bochy and the Giants are viewing Lincecum as a potential long reliever. The two-time National League Cy Young Award winner probably prefers to start.

Garrett Richards "seems questionable" for his Friday start, per MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez.

Richards battled some dehydration this past weekend and did not throw his usual between-starts bullpen session on Tuesday or Wednesday. There should be a status update soon from the Angels. The 27-year-old right-hander holds a 2.34 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 34 2/3 innings this season and was supposed to open the Angels' weekend series against the visiting Rays.
May 4 - 12:08 PM

Joe Panik (groin) is doubtful to play until Saturday.

Panik is out of the Giants' starting lineup for the fifth straight game Wednesday against the Reds, though he was able to do some jogging and agility drills on Tuesday. If the second baseman doesn't make it back this weekend, the Giants will have to consider a disabled list stint (retroactive to April 30). Kelby Tomlinson is starting at second on Wednesday.
May 4 - 11:43 AM

Domingo Santana was scratched from the Brewers' starting lineup due to lingering shoulder soreness.

It's been bothering him all week, though he was able to play on Tuesday. Santana is considered day-to-day for now. Alex Presley will start in right field and Jonathan Villar is now leading off against Anaheim.
May 4 - 11:29 AM

Nick Markakis is out of the Braves' starting lineup on Wednesday due to a family emergency.

Markakis has been excused from the club to travel back to his home in Maryland, though he's expected to return for the Braves' weekend series against the Diamondbacks. Atlanta has a scheduled day off Thursday.
May 4 - 11:07 AM

Ryan Braun is back in the Brewers' starting lineup on Wednesday afternoon against the Angels.

Braun was given the day off Tuesday due to some routine soreness. He will start in left field and bat third Wednesday versus Angels left-hander Hector Santiago. Braun, 32, is slashing .372/.443/.605 this season.
May 4 - 11:05 AM

Tommy Pham (oblique) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Wednesday with Triple-A Memphis.

Pham is finally ready for live action again after missing a full month with a strained left oblique. He should rejoin the Cardinals as an active backup outfielder early next week. The 28-year-old has a cool .809 OPS in 176 career major league plate appearances and he can play all three outfield spots.
May 4 - 10:40 AM

Billy Hamilton (thumb) will sit out Wednesday.

Hamilton was pulled from Tuesday night's game against the Giants after reaggravating his left thumb, which he originally jammed April 15 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. Consider the speedster day-to-day. Tyler Holt is starting in center field and batting second Wednesday versus San Francisco right-hander Jake Peavy.

Zack Cozart (knee) is back in the Reds' starting lineup Wednesday versus the Giants.

Cozart tweaked his surgically-repaired right knee in Sunday's series finale against the Pirates and was held out of the first two games of this three-game set with the Giants. It sounds like that was all mostly precautionary. The 30-year-old shortstop has an impressive .347/.350/.533 batting line in 19 games this season for Cincinnati.
