Kevin Youkilis was scratched from Tuesday's Grapefruit League game with a left oblique injury.

Youkilis will be shut down for a few days, but it's not a serious setback. The Yankees will likely go with Addison Maruszak and Eduardo Nunez at third base until he's ready to return.

Austin Jackson reached base six times, as he was hit by a pitch, drew a walk, had four hits, and stole a base in Tuesday's 11-inning loss to the Yankees.

Jackson raised his OPS from .599 to .665 with the effort. He scored once, in the third inning on a Nelson Cruz single to tie the game at 1-1. He then gave the Mariners a temporary 2-1 lead in the sixth with an RBI double. Jackson may be starting to heat up as he's on a six-game hitting streak.

Garrett Jones went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run, helping the Yankees take down the Mariners in 11 innings on Tuesday.

Reliever Joe Beimel came in to face Jones with two men aboard in the 11th inning and Jones made him pay, sending the lefty's offering over the fence in right-center with plenty of room to spare. Jones has otherwise not done much in 62 plate appearances for the Yankees, batting .254/.290/.407 with two home runs and seven RBI.

Andrew McCutchen finished a home run shy of the cycle, going 4-for-5 with two RBI as the Pirates won against the Giants on Tuesday.

McCutchen is a ball of hot fire right now, as Tuesday's effort marked his sixth multi-hit game in his last 11 contests. He knocked in a run in the third inning with a single and padded the Pirates' lead with an RBI double in the ninth. McCutchen's early-season struggles are in the rear-view mirror now, as he's hitting .292/.379/.497 with seven home runs and 32 RBI. If there is one complaint, it's that he hasn't been very active on the base paths -- he has only three stolen bases in five attempts to date after going 18-for-21 last year.
Jun 3 - 1:34 AM

Derek Norris went 2-for-4 with a walk and a two-run home run in Tuesday's win over the Mets.

Norris homered off of Noah Syndergaard in the fourth inning, extending the Padres' lead to 7-1. He has five home runs on the year now while hitting a productive .287/.327/.468 with 34 RBI. Norris is halfway to matching his season-high in home runs.
Jun 3 - 1:19 AM

A.J. Pollock gave the Diamondbacks a lead they wouldn't relinquish in the seventh inning with a two-run home run Tuesday versus the Braves.

Pollock went yard off of Brandon Cunniff to give the Diamondbacks a 7-6 lead in the seventh inning. He went 2-for-5 on the evening, also knocking in a run with a ground out. Pollock continues to do it all for the D'Backs, batting .314/.365/.474 with six home runs, 22 RBI, 34 runs scored, and 13 stolen bases.
Jun 3 - 1:02 AM

Albert Pujols hit his 534th career home run, tying him with Jimmie Foxx for 17th all-time, but the Angels lost to the Rays on Tuesday.

Pujols finished 1-for-4. His solo home run in the fourth inning off of Chris Archer accounted for the Angels' only run of the evening. Pujols' next target after Foxx is Mickey Mantle at 536, then Mike Schmidt at 548. The veteran has 14 home runs total on the year with 27 RBI and a .254/.303/.508 batting line.
Jun 3 - 12:46 AM

Chris Archer was dominant again in a win on Tuesday, striking out 15 batters and allowing only one run over eight innings against the Angels.

There may not be a hotter pitcher going right now than Archer. He struck out 12 in eight shutout frames a week ago against the Mariners and hasn't allowed more than one run in each of his last four starts. He scattered six Angel hits while walking zero in the effort, lowering his ERA to 2.01 with a 0.96 WHIP and a 97/20 K/BB ratio in 76 innings. Archer will get another crack at the Mariners in his next start, which will come in Seattle.
Jun 3 - 12:44 AM

Brandon Moss finished 3-for-4 with a solo home run as the Indians edged the Royals 2-1 on Tuesday.

Moss hit the solo homer off Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie, his ninth home run of the year. Moss ended up with three of the teams' combined 11 hits in the game. He's been on fire in recent days, collecting eight hits in his last 14 at-bats to raise his overall line to .251/.319/.479.
Jun 3 - 12:37 AM

Alex Guerrero pinch-hit and blasted a two-strike, two-out grand slam in the ninth inning to erase a three-run deficit as the Dodgers took down the Rockies in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader.

It's hard to come up any bigger than that. Though it is no surprise coming from Guerrero, as he has been hitting all season long. The salami was his 10th homer of the season. The 28-year-old also has 25 RBI and a .296/.327/.684 triple-slash line in 100 plate appearances.
Jun 3 - 12:06 AM

Evan Gattis went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in the Astros' 6-4 victory on Tuesday.

Gattis blasted a three-run shot off Orioles starter Mike Wright in the third inning, his 12th home run of the season. The designated hitter is sixth in the AL in home runs and seventh in the league with 36 RBI. After a slow start, Gattis has proven to be what the Astros hoped they were getting when they traded for him this past winter.
Jun 3 - 12:04 AM

Lance Lynn threw 7 2/3 scoreless innings and the Cardinals shut out the Brewers 1-0 on Tuesday.

Lynn scattered five hits and a walk in the effort. The win was his first in three starts, pulling his record to an even 4-4 overall. The right-hander has a 3.03 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 72/22 K/BB ratio over 78 1/3 innings of work this year. Lynn will take on the Dodgers in Los Angeles on Sunday.
