FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Vladimir Guerrero is attempting a comeback.

Vlad didn't appear in a major league game in 2012, batting .358/.364/.679 with four homers in 12 minor league games for the Blue Jays before asking for his release. The 38-year-old played winter ball in his native Dominican Republic, hitting .188 over eight contests. Guerrero is willing to accept a minor league deal, so someone seems likely to give him a shot. He's obviously a longshot to have any sort of impact in 2013, though. Rosenthal says that the Yankees are not interested in Vlad.

Daniel Murphy (hamstring) is back in the Nationals' starting lineup on Wednesday.

Murphy was a late scratch Tuesday due to minor tightness in his left hamstring. It's clearly not a serious concern. He is starting at second base and batting third Wednesday versus Braves right-hander Lucas Sims.
Sep 20 - 3:36 PM

Jake Arrieta (hamstring) has been cleared to start Thursday against the Brewers.

It will be the first outing for Arrieta since he suffered a Grade 1 strain of his right hamstring on September 4. He's expected to be limited to 75-80 pitches, but the 31-year-old right-hander is a must-start anyway in all relevant fantasy leagues. Arrieta, an impending free agent, holds a dominant 2.01 ERA in 71 2/3 innings since the beginning of July.
Sep 20 - 3:27 PM

Matt Carpenter (shoulder) is back in the Cardinals' starting lineup on Wednesday night against the Reds.

Carpenter was on the bench Tuesday and admitted after the game that he will be playing through shoulder discomfort for the remainder of the 2017 regular season. He is starting at first base and hitting leadoff Wednesday versus Cincinnati right-hander Rookie Davis. Jose Martinez is sitting.
Sep 20 - 2:59 PM

Matt Kemp (hamstring) is absent from the Braves' starting lineup again on Wednesday.

This is the fourth straight absence for Kemp, who tweaked his left hamstring last Friday. He might not see much playing time over these final 12 regular-season games. Adonis Garcia is in left field and batting sixth Wednesday versus Nationals left-hander Gio Gonzalez.
Sep 20 - 2:53 PM

Ender Inciarte (thumb) is out of the Braves' starting lineup on Wednesday against the Nationals.

Inciarte made an early exit from Tuesday's game after experiencing renewed soreness in his left thumb. He initially injured the thumb last week while sliding into a base. Lane Adams is starting in center field and batting seventh Wednesday versus Nats left-hander Gio Gonzalez.
Sep 20 - 2:50 PM

Dustin Pedroia (nose) will start at second base Wednesday versus the Orioles.

Pedroia took a ricocheted foul ball to the face in Monday's series opener but only suffered a nasal contusion and was able to pinch-hit on Tuesday night. The veteran second baseman is slashing .302/.376/.404 in 99 games this season for Boston.
Sep 20 - 2:48 PM

Blue Jays signed RHP Marco Estrada to a one-year, $13 million contract extension.

MLB.com's Jon Morosi first reported word of the agreement on Tuesday night and now the Blue Jays have made it official. Estrada holds a rough 4.84 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 176 2/3 total innings (31 starts) this season, but he's had a resurgent second half and will be back for a fourth year in Toronto. The veteran right-hander turned 34 years old in July.
Sep 20 - 1:59 PM

Reds activated OF Billy Hamilton from the 10-day disabled list.

Hamilton expressed frustration Tuesday over the Reds' medical staff slowing his rehab plan and now management has given heed to his desire to get back on the field for the final stretch of the regular season. The speedy center fielder suffered a fractured left thumb while trying to lay down a bunt back on September 6 and he might be limited to pinch-running duties out of the gate. Hamilton needs just one more stolen base to set a new career high.
Sep 20 - 12:06 PM

Amed Rosario (stomach) is out of the Mets' starting lineup again on Wednesday.

Rosario is working through a nasty case of gastroenteritis and has now missed three straight games, though he's reportedly feeling a little better. Jose Reyes will start at shortstop and bat second Wednesday versus Marlins righty Jose Urena.
Sep 20 - 10:58 AM

Rhys Hoskins reached base three times and drove in four runs in the Phillies' win over the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Hoskins plated a run with a single in the sixth, but he provided the big blow in the seventh. After Pedro Baez walked Odubel Herrera to force in a run and tie the game with two outs, Hoskins then cleared the bases with a two-bagger. The stud rookie has now driven in 43 runs in his first 39 games with the Phillies.
Sep 19 - 11:41 PM

Dexter Fowler hit a game-tying solo homer in the eighth inning and a go-ahead RBI double in the 10th inning of Tuesday's comeback win over the Reds.

Fowler's drive off of Kevin Shackleford in the eighth just barely cleared the right-center field wall and Scott Schebler's glove. He then doubled down the line to put the Cards ahead in extra innings. Fowler also had a single and drew a walk, reaching base four times on the night. The outfielder is now 7-for-12 with two homers since returning from a bruised knee.
