Scott Diamond (elbow) is scheduled to make his Grapefruit League debut March 18 against the Marlins.

Diamond underwent surgery to remove a bone chip from his left elbow back in December and has been taking it slowly so far in Twins camp. The 26-year-old southpaw remains questionable for the start of the 2013 season.

Odorizzi officially starting Monday vs. Jays

The Rays have officially announced Jake Odorizzi will be Monday's starter against the Blue Jays.

The move won't be made official until Sunday, but the Rays have confirmed what was suspected since David Price went on the disabled list. The Blue Jays aren't the most pitcher-friendly opponent for a spot starter, but Odorizzi is good enough that he warrants a look in deeper mixed leagues. The right-hander has a 3.83 ERA and 47/15 K/BB ratio through 44 2/3 innings at Triple-A Durham this year.

Johnson blows another save, O's fall to Rays

Jim Johnson blew his second consecutive save in epic fashion Saturday as the Orioles fell to the Rays.

Johnson entered with the O's leading 6-4 and promptly surrendered five earned runs on three hits and two walks. He was among the best closers in baseball last season and started off strong this year, but his past two outings have been very troubling. The Orioles may want to give him a few days of mental rest.

Votto reaches base in all six PA as Reds win

Joey Votto went 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Saturday's 10-0 defeat of the Phillies.

Votto also drew two walks, reaching base in all six of his plate appearances. He boasts a ridiculous .346/.473/.531 slash line in 43 games this year and is probably the best pure batter in the majors right now. It's just gravy that the power is starting to come around.

Odorizzi likely to make Rays debut on Monday

Jake Odorizzi is expected to be called up Monday to start in place of David Price against Toronto.

Odorizzi and Alex Colome were the frontrunners for the spot start, and it seems like Odorizzi will win out. Colome pitched for Triple-A Durham on Saturday, and Odorizzi is on the same five-day schedule as Price was. The Blue Jays aren't the most pitcher-friendly opponent for a spot starter, but Odorizzi is good enough that he warrants a look in deeper mixed leagues. Harper likely to miss a few games with bruise

Bryce Harper will miss Saturday and likely Sunday's game as well because of a bruised left knee.

Harper is still feeling the effects of running into the Dodger Stadium outfield wall on Monday night and is getting a few days to recover in San Diego before the Nationals head to San Francisco. Harper underwent an MRI on his abdomen on Friday, which came back clean.

O'Flaherty has torn ulnar collateral ligament

An MRI taken Saturday on Eric O'Flaherty's left arm revealed a torn ulnar collateral ligament.

That's the injury that almost always leads to Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery. O'Flaherty will visit Dr. James Andrews next week and is likely out for the year. The Atlanta bullpen continues to take big hits.

Cards lose Jaime Garcia to strained shoulder

Cardinals placed LHP Jaime Garcia on the 15-day disabled list with a left shoulder strain.

Garcia has been dealing with shoulder issues for over a year and will visit Dr. James Andrews to try to get some answers. Surgery could ultimately be the course taken. The Cardinals are calling up reliever Mitchell Boggs on Saturday to fill their vacant roster spot but will have to add a new starting pitcher soon. Maybe 2012 first-rounder Michael Wacha will get a chance.

Kinsler (ribs) out of Texas lineup again Sat.

Ian Kinsler (ribs) is out of the Rangers' starting lineup again on Saturday evening.

Kinsler was hit in the ribs by a throw Tuesday while stealing second base and aggravated his contusion Thursday during an at-bat. He is considered day-to-day.

Alderson tells Davis demotion is not imminent

Ike Davis was told Saturday by Mets general manger Sandy Alderson that a demotion is not imminent.

ESPN New York reported Saturday morning that there were intensifying internal discussions about sending the struggling first baseman to Triple-A, but Davis got the vote of confidence on Saturday afternoon directly from the man who would make that decision. Davis estimated that he has about a month to turn it around.

Mark Reynolds has three RBI in walk-off win

Mark Reynolds went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, an RBI single and a walk-off fielder's choice in Saturday's win over the Mariners.

Reynolds drove in three runs on the day. The fielder's choice came with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, as catcher Jesus Montero was unable to keep his foot on home plate on a throw from shortstop Brendan Ryan. Reynolds has been one of the AL's most productive hitters thus far, batting .268/.354/.580 through 40 games. He's tied with the Yankees' Robinson Cano for the American League lead with 12 homers.

Stanton (hammy) may begin jogging next week

Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) could begin jogging sometime next week.

That's what Marlins skipper Mike Redmond told reporters on Saturday afternoon. Stanton has been on the disabled list since April 30 with a severe right hamstring strain and is being limited currently to pool workouts. There is no timetable for his return to Miami.
