Josh Kinney said Tuesday that his stress reaction is in his left shoulder.

It was previously reported that Kinney was dealing with a stress reaction in his rib cage. There's no timetable for his return, but the good news is that it's not in his throwing shoulder.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Blue Jays will acquire Mark Lowe from the Mariners in exchange for three minor leaguers.

Lowe inked a minor league deal with the M's over the winter and wasn't called up until May, but he's since posted a 1.00 ERA with 47 strikeouts over 36 innings. He'll held set up with the Blue Jays.

Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that the Cubs will acquire Dan Haren from the Marlins.

The Marlins are expected to receive a minor league pitcher and infielder in return. Haren should fit in nicely at the back-end of the Cubs' rotation, as he's put up a 3.42 ERA and 1.09 WHIP across 21 starts this season. The veteran right-hander will be a free agent this winter and has hinted at retirement.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Mets are talking to the Tigers about Yoenis Cespedes.

Talks with the Reds about Jay Bruce appear to be losing steam, so the Mets are looking at other outfielders. Rosenthal notes that Cespedes is "one of their many options," as they've also been connected to Will Venable and Rajai Davis. CBS Sports' Jon Heyman says that the Nationals "could be a possibility" for Cespedes.

Orioles acquired OF Gerardo Parra from the Brewers for RHP Zach Davies.

Two months later, the Orioles have replaced Alejandro De Aza with another Alejandro De Aza, but one who happens to be in the midst of a career season. Or, at least, a career three months so far. Parra was hitting .328/.369/.517 for Milwaukee, a huge improvement over his .265/.316/.387 lines from the previous two seasons. He's never played in the AL before, so he's facing a transition, and most likely, he'll begin to revert to something closer to his career numbers. That still probably makes him the Orioles' best option in left field against right-handers. He's just not really likely to be a difference maker.
Jul 31 - 12:55 PM

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that trade talks between the Mets and Reds involving Jay Bruce "may have lost momentum."

It had been looking like earlier Friday that the deal was close to the finish line, but Crasnick is saying the Reds are "having second thoughts about the Mets' trade package." It's unclear at this point how likely it is that talks will pick back up. The Mets are looking at other outfielders in addition to Bruce.
Jul 31 - 12:48 PM

Orioles designated RHP Bud Norris for assignment.

Norris lost his rotation spot earlier this month and holds a 7.06 ERA on the season. The Orioles should be able to find a trade partner for him, although they'll surely have to eat some of his $8.8 million salary.
Jul 31 - 12:44 PM

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that talks between the Yankees and Padres regarding Craig Kimbrel "broke down" on Thursday.

ESPN's Buster Olney adds that the two sides haven't had any talks on Friday, so it appears that ship might have sailed. The Yankees are still in the market for a reliever, though, with Carter Capps and possibly Aroldis Chapman piquing their interest.

Rangers acquired LHP Cole Hamels, LHP Jake Diekman and cash from the Phillies for C Jorge Alfaro, RHP Jake Thompson, OF Nick Williams, RHP Alec Asher, LHP Matt Harrison and RHP Jerad Eickhoff.

The Rangers have themselves a co-ace with Yu Darvish to put in front of their 2016 rotation, and since the Phillies ate $9.5 million of the $82 million he's still owed and took back Harrison's $33 million, he won't break the budget. Of course, they had to give up three top prospects to get him, but since they managed to hold on to their two best in Joey Gallo and Nomar Mazara, it's hard to blame them for making the deal. They'd still seem to be long shots to reach the postseason this year, but this can't hurt their chances. Hamels loses some fantasy value with the deal, since he's going to the tougher league and a hitter's park, but at least he's looking at getting run support for the first time in years.
Jul 31 - 12:31 PM

Blue Jays placed 2B Devon Travis on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 29, with a left shoulder strain.

Travis re-injured his left shoulder on Tuesday. He was given a cortisone shot in hopes that he'd be able to power through the ailment, but apparently it hasn't had the desired effect. It's unclear at this point how long he might be sidelined.
Jul 31 - 12:25 PM

Cardinals acquired RHP Jonathan Broxton and cash considerations from the Brewers in exchange for OF Malik Collymore.

Broxton holds an ugly 5.89 ERA for the season, but he's struck out a batter per inning and been very good of late, allowing runs in just one of his last 10 appearances. He's another bullpen depth addition after they acquired Steve Cishek last week.
Jul 31 - 12:16 PM

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal was told by one source that there's a "50/50" chance the Orioles trade for Ben Revere.

The O's have already added Gerardo Parra, but they're still seeking some outfield help. Revere has also been connected with the Blue Jays, but it sounds like their interest has died down a bit. He's under team control through 2017.
