Aramis Ramirez (knee) is back in the Brewers' lineup Friday.

The third baseman had tested out his knee in every drill but sliding, and he's apparently now done that, as well. Ramirez wound up missing just under two weeks of action with a sprained left knee.

Ian Kinsler (ribs) is out of the Rangers' starting lineup again on Saturday evening.

Kinsler was hit in the ribs by a throw Tuesday while stealing second base and aggravated his contusion Thursday during an at-bat. He is considered day-to-day.

Ike Davis was told Saturday by Mets general manger Sandy Alderson that a demotion is not imminent.

ESPN New York reported Saturday morning that there were intensifying internal discussions about sending the struggling first baseman to Triple-A, but Davis got the vote of confidence on Saturday afternoon directly from the man who would make that decision. Davis estimated that he has about a month to turn it around.

Mark Reynolds went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, an RBI single and a walk-off fielder's choice in Saturday's win over the Mariners.

Reynolds drove in three runs on the day. The fielder's choice came with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, as catcher Jesus Montero was unable to keep his foot on home plate on a throw from shortstop Brendan Ryan. Reynolds has been one of the AL's most productive hitters thus far, batting .268/.354/.580 through 40 games. He's tied with the Yankees' Robinson Cano for the American League lead with 12 homers.
May 18 - 4:33 PM

Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) could begin jogging sometime next week.

That's what Marlins skipper Mike Redmond told reporters on Saturday afternoon. Stanton has been on the disabled list since April 30 with a severe right hamstring strain and is being limited currently to pool workouts. There is no timetable for his return to Miami.
May 18 - 4:26 PM

Stephen Drew (back) is not in Saturday's lineup.

Drew played through a back issue on Friday and the Red Sox don't want to risk it again. The injury is not considered serious, though, and Drew will try to return on Sunday.
May 18 - 4:00 PM

Robinson Cano launched a pair of two-run homers in Saturday's win over the Blue Jays.

It was the 12th multi-homer game of his career and his second of the season. The 30-year-old is now tied for the American League lead with 12 homers. He's the cream of the crop among fantasy second baseman and could get even better as the Yankees' lineup gets healthier.
May 18 - 3:50 PM

Joe Mauer (back) returned to the Twins' lineup Saturday.

Mauer was held out of Friday's game with lower back stiffness, but it was never a major concern. He's batting in the No. 2 spot Saturday and will serve as the Twins' designated hitter against the Red Sox.
May 18 - 3:49 PM

Astros activated 2B Jose Altuve from the bereavement list.

Altuve has been out since Tuesday following the death of a family member. He was also dealing with a jaw injury during his time off, but he's now ready to return to the Astros' lineup.
May 18 - 3:08 PM

Reds optioned LHP Tony Cingrani to Triple-A Louisville.

The Reds needed to clear a rotation spot with Johnny Cueto returning from the disabled list Monday, so Cingrani was officially sent down. He was mostly excellent over his first six major league starts, posting a 3.27 ERA, nine walks and 41 strikeouts in 33 innings. Neftali Soto has been called up to replace Cingrani on the active roster, and Mike Leake will remain Cincinnati's fifth starter.
May 18 - 1:15 PM

Josh Johnson (triceps) will begin a rehab assignment Monday with High-A Dunedin.

Johnson has been on the DL since April 29, but he hasn't had any issues during his throwing program. He'll likely need 2-3 games before he's cleared to rejoin the Blue Jays' rotation. Johnson is on track for a return in the early part of June.
May 18 - 12:30 PM

Yankees acquired INF Reid Brignac from the Rockies for cash considerations.

Brignac made the Rockies' Opening Day roster, but was designated for assignment on Thursday after he batted just .250/.294/.375 in 53 plate appearances. The former top prospect is capable of playing multiple infield positions and will serve in a utility role with the Yankees.
