Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Brandon Belt suffered only a "mild" ankle sprain in Wednesday's win over the Padres.

Belt injured the ankle while sliding into second base in the eighth inning. He was able to walk off the field under his own power. After the game, Bochy said that it might take a few games for Belt to return to action, but there are no indications that this is any type of serious injury. He could maybe play Friday in Colorado.

Brandon Crawford hit a walkoff RBI single to send the Giants to a 4-3, 10-inning win over the Padres on Wednesday.

Matt Duffy managed a one-out single against reliever Brad Hand in the 10th inning and later moved to second on a wild pitch, setting the stage for Crawford. The 29-year-old shortstop came through with a deep RBI single to win the game. It would have gone for a double or triple in any other circumstance. For the season, Crawford is hitting .262/.337/.449 with six homers and 27 RBI.

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons suggested Wednesday evening that Devon Travis (shoulder) could move swiftly to the top spot in the batting order.

Travis is hitting eighth Wednesday in his first game since July 28, 2015, but Gibbons told reporters that the dynamic 25-year-old second baseman will slide up quickly if he looks sharp in his first couple of games. Travis hit .304/.361/.498 with eight home runs and three stolen bases in 62 games last season for Toronto, batting leadoff in 22 of his 60 starts. He'd carry huge fantasy potential at the head of a dangerous Jays offense.

Mark Teixeira (neck) underwent an MRI on Wednesday.

The Yankees are still waiting on the results of the MRI. Neck spasms have bothered Teixeira on-and-off throughout the month of May. A stint on the disabled list is in play if the testing results are not to the team's liking. Teixeira is hitting just .195/.294/.282 over 149 at-bats this season.

Nomar Mazara went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and three total RBI in Wednesday's win over the Angels.

Mazara socked a solo home run off Angels starter Hector Santiago in the second inning that traveled an estimated 491 feet. That makes it the longest home run hit by any major leaguer in 2016. He would add a two-run single in the sixth to secure his other two RBI on the afternoon. For the season, the 21-year-old outfielder is slashing .320/.365/.500 with eight home runs and 21 RBI over 150 at-bats. He has six multi-hit games in his last 10. Mazara, long considered an intriguing all-around talent, has become an immediate star at the major league level.

Yasiel Puig is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.

Puig was pulled from Tuesday's game after he turned a would-be extra-base hit into a single by admiring the deep shot to right field. Following the game, manager Dave Roberts said, "It's something that when we talk about playing the game the right way, we have to be accountable." Trayce Thompson takes Puig's place in right field on Wednesday and is hitting fifth. Even setting Tuesday's lack of hustle aside, Puig is slashing just .247/.289/.382 as Memorial Day weekend approaches.

Kris Bryant finished 2-for-3 with three RBI as the Cubs topped the Cardinals 9-8 on Wednesday.

Bryant singled and scored in the Cubs' six-run second inning and cracked a long three-run homer off Seung Hwan Oh in the top of the sixth. The star third baseman has an .870 OPS with 10 home runs and 35 RBI in 44 games this season for the Cubs, who now hold an eight-game lead over the Cardinals in the National League Central. Bryant has done nothing but rake since he arrived in the majors last April.
May 25 - 5:46 PM

Marlins manager Don Mattingly said that Giancarlo Stanton is dealing with "a little soreness" on his right side.

Stanton is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays, with Ichiro Suzuki starting in right field and batting leadoff. It is not known if this current bout of soreness for Stanton is related to a mid-May outfield collision with teammate Marcell Ozuna. Unless further word surfaces, the slugger should be considered day-to-day moving forward.

Corey Kluber was fantastic in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the White Sox, firing 7 1/3 innings of two-run ball while striking out nine.

Only one of the two runs on Kluber's line was earned. The nine strikeouts stand as his second-best effort of 2016. After struggling for much of April, the ace right-hander has worked his ERA down to 3.78. He also holds a 1.11 WHIP and 67/16 K/BB ratio over 66 2/3 innings. He will look to continue to round into form in a home start against the Rangers next time he takes the ball.
May 25 - 5:21 PM

Rockies manager Walt Weiss said that Jorge De La Rosa will be moved to the bullpen for the time being.

This shouldn't be considered a huge surprise. De La Rosa was rocked for seven runs over 3 1/3 innings against the Red Sox on Tuesday and now holds an 11.41 ERA through six starts this season. He missed almost a month with a strained left groin suffered in late April, but was struggling even before the injury. With De La Rosa shifting to the bullpen, Chris Rusin will join the rotation.
May 25 - 5:18 PM

Jean Segura said he does not have a concussion.

Pirates reliever Arquimedes Caminero hit Segura on the side of his batting helmet with a 96 mph fastball on Tuesday, sending him out of the game and to a local hospital. Segura remains active on the Diamondbacks' roster Wednesday and could be ready to return by the weekend. Call him day-to-day for now.
