Yankees signed 1B Lyle Overbay to a minor league contract.

Overbay was released by the Red Sox on Tuesday morning but found a new, possibly better, gig within a couple of hours. The 36-year-old could get semi-regular starts at first base for New York in the early going but he is highly doubtful to hold any fantasy relevance.

Mike Moustakas (knee) remains absent from the Royals' starting lineup Wednesday versus the Twins.

Moustakas has now missed three straight games with a knee contusion that he suffered Sunday in a collision with Alex Gordon. He's still considered day-to-day. Cheslor Cuthbert will start at third base and bat seventh Wednesday against Twins righty Tyler Duffey.

Matt Harvey will take his next turn in the Mets' rotation Monday versus the White Sox.

There was some talk of skipping Harvey or even trying a phantom disabled list stint after he got lit up for five runs over five innings Tuesday against the Nationals. The right-hander has allowed 19 runs -- 16 earned -- over his last 13 1/3 innings (three starts) and owns a rough 6.08 ERA for the year. But there will be no drastic changes yet.
May 25 - 11:05 AM

Bryce Harper is out of the Nationals' starting lineup on Wednesday against the Mets.

Harper is batting just .133 with a .516 OPS over his last 10 games and will grab a bit of mental and physical rest in the afternoon tilt against the Mets. Chris Heisey is starting in right field and batting seventh for the Nats versus New York lefty Steven Matz.

Rougned Odor's eight-game suspension appeal decision probably won't come until Thursday or Friday.

Odor had the appeal hearing Tuesday, but Jon Morosi of FOX Sports notes that there is "a lot of information being considered" by the people tasked with rendering a ruling. The second baseman was issued the eight-game punishment by Major League Baseball on May 17 for his role in a massive May 15 brawl with the Blue Jays. He could be clearly seen connecting on a punch to Jose Bautista's face. Odor will remain active until the appeal decision is announced.
May 25 - 10:54 AM

Jorge Soler is out of the Cubs' starting lineup on Wednesday afternoon against the Cardinals.

Soler slugged a two-run homer as part of a three-RBI performance on Tuesday night in St. Louis, but he'll be on the bench at the opening of Wednesday's matinee. Kris Bryant is starting in left field and batting third and Tommy La Stella is starting at third base and batting sixth versus Cardinals right-hander Carlos Martinez.
May 25 - 10:42 AM

Ian Kinsler (flu) is out of the Tigers' starting lineup again on Wednesday versus the Phillies.

Kinsler had to be scratched from Tuesday night's game after experiencing flu-like symptoms and he'll remain on the bench for Wednesday's matinee. Mike Aviles is starting at second base and batting eighth versus Philadelphia right-hander Aaron Nola. Cameron Maybin will get another turn at leadoff.
May 25 - 10:09 AM

Wil Myers (forearm) is not expected to play Wednesday.

Myers experienced some discomfort in his left forearm Monday while picking up a baseball and the Padres want to play it safe so that this doesn't turn into another extended absence. Including a scheduled team off day Thursday, the 25-year-old first baseman can get three straight days of rest. He's slashing just .218/.227/.345 with one walk and 17 strikeouts in 87 at-bats this month.
May 25 - 9:28 AM

Yasiel Puig was removed from Tuesday's game due to a lack of hustle.

Puig spent a long time admiring a shot to the right field wall in the bottom of the sixth inning, turning a potential extra-base hit into a single. He did drive in a run with that hard liner and would eventually come around to score, but it was a bad look for a guy who still owns a weak .247/.289/.382 overall batting line this season. "We talk a lot about playing the game the right way," said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. "For me, mental mistakes, we’re going to live with. But in my opinion, he should have been on second base. It’s something that when we talk about playing the game the right way, we have to be accountable. That was the decision I made."

Eduardo Rodriguez (knee) fired seven innings of one-run ball Tuesday in a rehab start at Triple-A Pawtucket.

Rodriguez struck out seven, walked none, and surrendered only four hits over his seven impressive frames. It was a very encouraging outing from the 23-year-old left-hander, who had to be scratched from a rehab start last week due to renewed soreness in his injured right knee. He's back on track now, though there's no exact timetable for his 2016 debut in Boston.
May 25 - 9:13 AM

Leonys Martin hit a walk-off two-run home run in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the A's.

Martin had just one hit on the evening, but boy howdy, it was a big one. Down 5-4 with one on and two outs in the ninth inning, the 28-year-old outfielder stood as the Mariners' last line of defense against a probable loss. He would make sure that no defeat came their way, cracking a two-run walk-off dinger to deep right off A's closer Ryan Madson to end the game. Of lesser import, the homer pushed Martin to an eight-game hitting streak. He is slashing .259/.337/.483 with nine homers, 19 RBI and seven steals over 143 at-bats. The nine homers already stand as a career best for Martin.
May 25 - 1:49 AM

Brandon Crawford went 2-for-3 with a three-run triple and four total RBI in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Padres.

Crawford notched his first RBI with a single in the sixth inning. He would come through again in much louder fashion in the bottom of the eighth. Stepping to the plate with the bases juiced, the 29-year-old shortstop brought 'em all home with a three-run triple off reliever Keith Hessler to blow open what had been a 3-1 game. For the season, Crawford is slashing .256/.330/.438 with nine doubles, six homers and 26 RBI across 160 at-bats.
