Cubs claimed RHP Guillermo Moscoso off waivers from the Blue Jays.

Moscoso had an ugly 6.12 ERA over 50 innings with the Rockies this season, but he could make the Cubs' Opening Day roster as a reliever. The 29-year-old had a 3.38 ERA in 128 innings with the A's in 2011.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Adrian Gonzalez was removed Thursday for precautionary reasons.

Gonzalez fouled a ball off his left knee in the early innings, but he should be fine. Los Angeles beat Cincinnati 1-0 to sweep a three-game series from Cincinnati.

David Wright is back in the Mets' starting lineup, batting cleanup and playing third base, Thursday night against the Phillies.

Wright was given the night off Wednesday, but he is expected to start the Mets' next three games. The veteran third baseman homered Monday in his first game since April 14 and looks capable of providing significant fantasy value in the middle of an energized Mets lineup.

Zack Greinke poured in a strong start in Thursday's 1-0 win over the Reds, tossing seven shutout innings.

Greinke scattered four hits while striking out nine and walking two. None of the hits went for extra-bases. With his strong seven innings, he improved to 14-3 on the season. He backs that record with a 1.61 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 164/31 K/BB ratio across 179 1/3 innings. A home start against the in-state rival Giants crops up next on Greinke's schedule.

Rays placed OF Desmond Jennings on the 15-day disabled list with a left knee bruise.

Jennings banged his surgically-repaired knee on a slide into second base over the weekend and hasn't felt right since. We might not see him again this season. Jennings, 28, will be arbitration eligible for the second time this winter after earning $3.1 million in 2015. He has appeared in only 28 games.
Aug 27 - 3:29 PM

Jung Ho Kang is out of the Pirates' lineup Thursday.

Kang was also given a day off Tuesday. He's been worked hard in his first major league season and Jordy Mercer is back from his knee injury to take some of the reps at shortstop. Mercer will start there and bat eighth versus Miami on Thursday evening.
Aug 27 - 3:26 PM

Yasiel Puig was removed from Thursday's game against the Reds after re-injuring his right hamstring.

Puig pulled up lame after legging out an infield single against Aroldis Chapman in the top of the ninth inning. The 24-year-old Cuban outfielder could be looking at yet another extended absence. He's appeared in just 77 games this season for the Dodgers.
Aug 27 - 3:18 PM

Gregor Blanco (hip) is out of the Giants' starting lineup Thursday against the Cubs.

Blanco was a late scratch from Wednesday's game with a left hip strain, but he felt good running in the outfield on Thursday morning and could be available off the bench already. Juan Perez is starting in center field and batting seventh on Thursday afternoon.
Aug 27 - 2:13 PM

Brandon Crawford (oblique) is out of the Giants' starting lineup again on Thursday.

Crawford could need a couple more days to rest his tight left oblique. Ehire Adrianza is starting at shortstop and batting eighth on Thursday afternoon against the Cubs.
Aug 27 - 1:51 PM

Yankees GM Brian Cashman said Thursday that there are no current plans to call up Aaron Judge.

But that does't mean it won't happen at some point in September. Judge, a consensus top-75 prospect ahead of the 2015 season, is batting .262/.337/.469 with 20 home runs and 70 RBI in 122 games this year between Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The 23-year-old corner outfield prospect would make sense as a bench bat for the stretch run.
Aug 27 - 1:47 PM

Matt Duffy (ankle) is in the Giants' starting lineup on Thursday afternoon against the Cubs.

Duffy suffered a right ankle sprain on Wednesday, but it obviously wasn't a significant one. He drew a walk, stole a base, and scored a run in the win. The National League Rookie of the Year candidate is batting .306/.345/.465 in 113 total games this year.
Aug 27 - 1:44 PM

Dexter Fowler is out of the Cubs' lineup again on Thursday due to discomfort in his right shin.

Fowler also missed Wednesday's game, but X-rays turned up negative and he should be good to go sometime this weekend. Kris Bryant is in right field, Chris Denorfia is in left field, and Matt Szczur is in center field Thursday against the Giants. Denorfia will lead off.
