Cardinals placed RHP Jason Motte on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 22, with a strained right elbow.

Motte was shut down last weekend with a mild flexor tendon strain in his right elbow. It's not a long-term concern at the moment. Mitchell Boggs will handle the early save chances for the Cardinals in 2013.

Paul Goldschmidt drew three walks and went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Monday's 10-inning win over the Mariners.

Goldschmidt put the Diamondbacks up 1-0 in the first inning when he drilled a solo home run to left field off of Mike Montgomery. The Mariners didn't seem to have any interest in pitching to him after that, and with good reason: the first baseman is batting an absurd .346/.465/.611 with 22 home runs, 75 RBI, and 17 stolen bases. Goldschmidt also leads the majors in walks by a large margin with 82, 10 more than the next-highest total (Bryce Harper, 72).

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Dodgers have discussed parting with Alex Guerrero in trade talks.

Guerrero has a clause in his contract that says he can become a free agent at the end of the season if he's traded, but the Los Angeles Times reported recently that he would consider waiving that right if it meant more money. Rosenthal says that the Dodgers, not surprisingly, are looking for pitching in return.

Brandon Crawford homered and walked in a 1-for-2 effort on Monday as the Giants defeated the Brewers.

Crawford delivered a two-run home run off of Kyle Lohse in the third inning, pushing the Giants' lead to 3-0. He's on a six-game hitting streak, currently standing with a .270/.336/.481 batting line along with 15 home runs and 61 RBI.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Troy Tulowitzki and LaTroy Hawkins have been traded to the Blue Jays for Jose Reyes and minor leaguers.

Well, how about that for a late-night surprise? Offense certainly wasn't a need for Toronto given that they are leading baseball in runs by a wide margin, but they obviously saw an opportunity to make a strength even stronger. They're also improving their defense with the deal, as Reyes' defense has really gone south. Tulo is under contract through 2020 with a club option for 2021. Reyes might be flipped elsewhere, as dealing Tulo but then taking on Reyes' contract wouldn't mesh with the Rockies' rebuild. Colorado is reportedly set to receive Jeff Hoffman, Miguel Castro and one other minor leaguer in the deal.

FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that the Mariners have heard from "several teams" interested in Hisashi Iwakuma.

However, Morosi adds that Seattle "still hasn't committed firmly to trading him." The Mariners are, at best, on the fringe of the Wild Card race and Iwakuma is a free agent after this season, but it doesn't appear they're ready to give up yet. Iwakuma has been limited to just seven starts this season due to injury but has been really good the last three times out, allowing a total of just four runs.

Kris Bryant delivered a walk-off two-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to help the Cubs overtake the Rockies on Monday.

Rafael Soriano blew the save in the top half of the ninth inning, allowing four runs to put the Cubs down 8-7. Kris Bryant picked up his teammate, victimizing Rockies closer John Axford for a two-run bomb to left-center. He hit an RBI single as part of a six-run fourth inning as well. The rookie has done well thus far, batting .254/.358/.453 with 14 home runs and 59 RBI.

Carlos Gonzalez homered twice in a 4-for-5 effort, but the Rockies lost to the Cubs on Monday.

Gonzalez started the scoring when he drilled a two-run home run to left-center off of Kyle Hendricks in the third inning. He helped the Rockies rally for a four-run ninth inning, drilling a go-ahead two-run home run in the ninth inning against Rafael Soriano. It wasn't a lead they would hold, however. Gonzalez has been on fire in July, racking up 10 multi-hit performances in 19 games. He has 20 home runs on the season with 51 RBI and a .278/.332/.520 triple-slash line.

Alex Rodriguez, celebrating his 40th birthday, went 1-for-5 with a solo home run as the Yankees topped the Rangers on Monday.

It's the sixth home run he's hit on his birthday, strangely enough. The sixth-inning blast extended the Yankees' lead to 4-2. Rodriguez has gone yard nine times in his last 15 games, including four in his last two. He has 24 dingers overall this season with 59 RBI and a .276/.373/.543 in an outstanding return after missing all of the 2014 season due to a suspension.

Adam Eaton went 3-for-6 with a double, a triple, and two RBI as the White Sox won a slugfest against the Red Sox on Monday.

Eaton led off the game with a triple, then scored the first run in a four-run opening frame. He hit an RBI double in the sixth, and added an RBI single in the seventh, finishing a home run shy of the cycle. The outfielder has a .255/.329/.407 batting line on the year with eight home runs, 23 RBI, and 55 runs scored.

Kolten Wong hit a grand slam, the only offense the Cardinals needed to beat the Reds on Monday.

Wong, who finished 1-for-3, cleared the bases and the fence in right-center in the fourth inning when he took Raisel Iglesias yard. The second baseman now has 11 home runs, leaving him one shy of tying last year's total. Wong has also knocked in 42 runs, stolen 11 bases, and compiled a .275/.337/.433 triple-slash line for the Red Birds.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports that the Dodgers "have let teams know that Yasiel Puig is available in the right deal."

However, he also adds that "teams are showing much more interest in their prospects." That's not altogether surprising, given that the Dodgers have one of the better farm systems in the game and have elite prospects like Corey Seager and Julio Urias. Puig is having a disappointing season with a .253/.327/.423 batting line and just six homers, but he's just 24 and is under team control cheaply through 2019. CBS Sports' Jon Heyman has reported previously that the Dodgers have told Puig he will not be traded.
