Mets placed RHP Frank Francisco on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 22, with elbow inflammation.

Francisco is still struggling to throw pain-free bullpen sessions and might not be ready to return when first eligible. Bobby Parnell will handle save chances.

Adrian Gonzalez (hand) is back in the Dodgers' lineup Monday.

Gonzalez had to exit Sunday's game after being hit on the right hand by a pitch, but he escaped with merely a bruise. The first baseman sports a .291/.366/.518 batting line with 15 homers and 50 RBI this season.
Jul 6 - 6:19 PM

Jacoby Ellsbury (knee) will be activated from the disabled list on Wednesday.

Ellsbury missed a few games during his rehab assignment last week due to fatigue in his legs, but he went through simulated game activities on Monday and the Yankees were apparently happy with what they saw. The outfielder has been on the shelf since mid-May with a right knee sprain.
Jul 6 - 6:14 PM

Khris Davis (knee) is slated to return from the disabled list on Tuesday.

Davis is ready to return now, but he played in five rehab games in five days through Sunday so the Brewers wanted to give him a day of rest before activating him. The outfielder missed five and a half weeks of action with a torn meniscus in his right knee.
Jul 6 - 5:51 PM

Lorenzo Cain will be sidelined for a few days after aggravating his left hamstring injury on Sunday.

It's an ailment Cain has been trying to play through for a couple weeks now. Royals manager Ned Yost expects the outfielder to be fine for next week's All-Star game, but it sounds like he could be sidelined for most of this week's action. Jarrod Dyson is handling center field Monday.
Jul 6 - 5:22 PM

Yordano Ventura (hand) has officially been cleared to start on Thursday against the Rays after a successful bullpen session Monday.

Ventura had been slated for another rehab start, but the Royals changed their mind after he felt good in a 'pen session over the weekend. Given the nice matchup, fantasy owners can probably go ahead and roll with the righty this week. Joe Blanton will head back to the bullpen following Ventura's return.
Jul 6 - 5:14 PM

Royals designated RHP Jason Frasor for assignment.

Well, this one is a surprise. Frasor has been lucky to post a 1.54 ERA this season considering his 4.03 FIP and 18/15 K/BB ratio over 23 1/3 innings, but he's been a mostly reliable reliever since arriving in Kansas City last July. He's making just $1.25 million this season and has a $2 million mutual option for 2016. The Royals seem likely to be able to find someone wanting to trade for Frasor.
Jul 6 - 5:00 PM

Mariners activated RHP Hisashi Iwakuma from the 15-day disabled list.

The right-hander has been sidelined since late April due to a strained lat muscle. He also had a blister issue in his last rehab start, but manager Lloyd McClendon said that Iwakuma will not be under a strict pitch count Monday when he takes on the Tigers. Fantasy owners can probably feel free to go ahead and ride with him.
Jul 6 - 4:54 PM

Starling Marte (oblique) is not in the Pirates' lineup Monday.

The Pirates are calling him day-to-day for now even though it's almost surely a strained oblique Marte is dealing with (the club has only said he has discomfort in his left side). It appears he'll avoid the disabled list for now, but fantasy owners would be wise not to count on him for a few days. Sean Rodriguez is in left field Monday.
Jul 6 - 4:17 PM

Carlos Gomez (wrist) is back in the Brewers' lineup Monday.

Gomez sat out Sunday's game after having to leave Saturday following a hit by pitch on the left wrist. He's probably still a tad sore but should be fine.
Jul 6 - 4:05 PM

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune's Rob Biertempfel, Josh Harrison has torn ligaments in his thumb and will be out up to six weeks.

Harrison wasn't in the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres. He apparently injured his hand while making an awkward slide into second on Sunday. A six-week recovery time would put his return around mid-to-late August.
Jul 6 - 3:33 PM

Brewers placed RHP Matt Garza on the disabled list, retroactive to July 3, with right shoulder tendinitis.

This is somewhat surprising, as there was little indication that Garza was dealing with arm troubles. It's unknown if this has been impacting his recent performance, but in his last two starts, he's been hit hard to the tune of 11 runs on 23 hits over 11 1/3 innings. For the season, Garza holds a 5.55 ERA and 68/33 K/BB ratio. No timetable has been set for his return as of yet.
