Yankees released LHP Clay Rapada.

Rapada was designated for assignment over the weekend. The 32-year-old dealt with a shoulder injury during spring training, but he shouldn't have much trouble drawing interest. He should make for a useful left-handed specialist if healthy.

Jonathan Lucroy (toe) is on pace to be activated from the disabled list on June 1.

Lucroy had an X-ray on Monday to see how his fractured left big toe had healed and said that he received good news. He'll go out on a brief rehab assignment later this week, with the exact time and place to be determined. Lucroy has been on the shelf since mid-April.

Travis d'Arnaud (finger) could be activated from the disabled list as soon as June 1.

That's a best-case scenario, while Mets general manager Sandy Alderson thinks the June 4-7 series versus the Diamondbacks might be a more realistic target. D'Arnaud will play five innings in an extended spring training game on Tuesday before then beginning a rehab assignment at High-A St. Lucie. He's been sidelined since April 20 with a fracture of his right little finger.

Brewers placed RHP Wily Peralta on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 23, with a strained left oblique.

Manager Craig Counsell expressed confidence on Saturday that Peralta would be able to make his next start, but now the club is saying the right-hander will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks. It's not clear at this point who will assume Peralta's spot in the rotation. David Goforth will be promoted prior to Tuesday's game to take his roster spot.

Yasmani Grandal has passed all concussions tests given to him by the Dodgers' medical staff.

He'll play in three rehab games with Triple-A Oklahoma City beginning on Tuesday -- serving as the designated hitter -- before being activated on Saturday when first eligible. Grandal sports a nice .291/.403/.466 batting line with four homers and 17 RBI for the Dodgers this season.
May 25 - 5:11 PM

Reds manager Bryan Price said Monday that he doesn't expect Johnny Cueto (elbow) to miss any more starts.

Cueto had to be scratched from an outing Sunday due to a stiff pitching elbow, but the club doesn't consider the ailment to be serious. He'll throw a bullpen session in a few days and be cleared to rejoin the rotation presumably this weekend against the Nationals.
May 25 - 4:57 PM

Chase Headley went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI as the Yankees torched the Royals 14-1 on Memorial Day.

Headley kicked off the rout with a two-run homer in the top of the first inning, then Brian McCann and Brett Gardner both followed with three-run shots in what became an eight-run opening frame. Stephen Drew added another three-run homer in the bottom of the second, finally driving Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie from the game. Headley also had an infield single and an RBI double. He's batting .255/.309/.416 with six home runs and 21 RBI in 44 games this season.
May 25 - 4:47 PM

Bartolo Colon held the Phillies to three runs in six innings Monday in the Mets' 6-3 victory.

Colon walked two and gave up six hits, but only one of those hits -- a Freddy Galvis double -- went for extra bases. Colon fanned six Philadelphia hitters and is now 7-3 with a 4.82 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 52/5 K/BB ratio in 61 2/3 innings this season. The big man remains a strong matchup-to-matchup fantasy starter, and he has a pretty good one at home against the Rockies on Sunday.
May 25 - 4:32 PM

Orioles manager Buck Showalter expects J.J. Hardy (back) to be in the lineup on Tuesday.

Hardy dealt with a tight back throughout Monday's game before finally exiting in the eighth inning. The shortstop thinks he just slept funny, though, and is expected to be fine.
May 25 - 4:27 PM

Nolan Arenado finished 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in the Rockies' 5-4 win over the Reds on Monday.

Arenado laced an RBI single in the top of the first inning, reached on an infield single in the top of the second, slugged a solo home run in the top of the fourth, and then drove in the go-ahead run for the Rockies with a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth. Arenado also had a huge day on Sunday against the Giants and is emerging out of his mid-May slump with bang after bang.
May 25 - 4:17 PM

Asdrubal Cabrera (groin) expects to return Tuesday.

Cabrera is out of the Rays' starting lineup on Monday night against the Mariners after leaving Sunday's game with a groin strain. The strain is of the minor variety.
May 25 - 4:01 PM

Jose Bautista (shoulder) is out of the Blue Jays' starting lineup again on Monday.

Bautista also sat out Sunday after getting a cortisone injection in his ailing right shoulder. He's been bothered by shoulder discomfort for over a month, but the Blue Jays are expected to keep the slugger active and continue using him as their primary designated hitter. Edwin Encarnacion is at DH on Monday against the White Sox and Justin Smoak is at first base.
