Aramis Ramirez will have an MRI performed on his injured left knee on Saturday.

It's certainly not encouraging news. Ramirez has been bothered by left knee issues since the beginning of spring training, and further aggravated it while sliding into second base on Friday. We'll certainly know more after the MRI, but it's almost a certainty that he's now heading for the disabled list.

Dodgers placed LHP Alex Wood on the 10-day disabled list with SC joint inflammation his left shoulder.

Wood missed time earlier this year with the same issue, but he said he plans to return in 10 days during the Dodgers' early-September series against the Padres. The left-hander stands 14-1 with a 2.41 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 127/30 K/BB ratio in 123 1/3 innings this season.

Marcus Semien (wrist) is not in the Athletics' starting lineup on Tuesday night against the Orioles.

Semien was lifted from Monday's series opener in Baltimore after irritating the scar tissue in his surgically-repaired right wrist, but the discomfort shouldn't keep him out long. Chad Pinder will start at shortstop and bat seventh Tuesday versus O's right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez.
Aug 22 - 4:29 PM

Noah Syndergaard (lat) is scheduled to throw batting practice on Wednesday.

It'll be his first time facing live hitters since he suffered a torn lat muscle in late April. Syndergaard appears on track to rejoin the Mets sometime in September, though there's no exact timetable at this point and he figures to be handled with care. New York is 15 games under the .500 mark here on August 22.
Aug 22 - 4:20 PM

Carlos Santana (back) is out of the Indians' starting lineup Tuesday night against the Red Sox.

Santana left Monday's series opener after experiencing tightness in his lower back. Consider him day-to-day. Edwin Encarnacion is starting at first base and Jason Kipnis will DH on Tuesday versus Boston right-hander Doug Fister. Jose Ramirez is at second base with Giovanny Urshela playing third.
Aug 22 - 4:00 PM

Michael Conforto told reporters Tuesday that his right thumb issue is minor.

It's just some inflammation from his heavy 2017 workload. Conforto won't start Tuesday night against the Diamondbacks, but it sounds like he could be ready to go Wednesday. The 24-year-old outfielder slugged his 27th homer of the year on Monday and boasts a .943 OPS in 2017 games this season. Matt Reynolds will draw a start in his place Tuesday versus Arizona.
Aug 22 - 3:56 PM

Indians placed RHP Danny Salazar on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to August 21, with right elbow inflammation.

This comes after Salazar was knocked around for six runs on 12 hits over 4 2/3 innings against the Royals on Sunday. It's unclear when he'll be ready to return, but it's obviously a troubling development with just a little over one month remaining in the regular season.
Aug 22 - 3:29 PM

Indians placed LHP Andrew Miller on the 10-day disabled list with right knee patella tendinitis.

Miller aggravated his knee injury during an appearance against the Red Sox on Monday night. He missed about two weeks last time and could require a longer absence this time around. More should be known in the coming days.
Aug 22 - 3:26 PM

David Wright (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Tuesday with High-A St. Lucie.

Oh, it's happening. He's set to serve as the designated hitter in his first professional game of the season. Wright has been out all year due to a shoulder impingement, and of course he also has a chronic back condition. It's no sure thing he'll be able to join the Mets down the stretch, but it would at least provide some smiles for Mets fans in what has been a lost year.
Aug 22 - 3:18 PM

Royals activated C Salvador Perez from the 10-day disabled list.

Perez ended up missing a little over two weeks with an intercostal strain. His return should provide a boost to the Royals as they attempt to climb in the AL Wild Card race.
Aug 22 - 3:04 PM

Zack Cozart (shin) has returned to the Reds' lineup Tuesday against the Cubs.

Cozart hasn't played since he was hit in the shin area by a pitch during Friday's game. He'll bat second against right-hander John Lackey in his return to action.
Aug 22 - 2:59 PM

White Sox recalled RHP Lucas Giolito from Triple-A Charlotte.

Giolito was originally scheduled to start in Monday's doubleheader, but he was pushed back to take Reynaldo Lopez's spot in the rotation Tuesday against the Twins. Acquired from the Nationals as part of the Adam Eaton deal, the 23-year-old posted a 4.48 ERA and 134/59 K/BB ratio in 128 2/3 innings over 24 starts in Triple-A this year (though he had been pitching better lately). Giolito's stock has faded somewhat, so he's more of a wait-and-see option in standard mixed fantasy leagues at this time.
