Orioles activated RHP Chris Tillman from the 15-day disabled list.

Tillman will make his regular season debut on Saturday night against the Twins. The 24-year-old right-hander didn't get much action this spring and probably won't be allowed to go more than five innings in his first start. But he could be a sleeper in deeper leagues once he gets it going.

Michael Saunders flew home from Arizona on Wednesday to deal with a personal matter.

Saunders is expected to return for Friday night's series opener at home against his former team, the Mariners. He boasts an .893 OPS in 86 games this season for the Blue Jays, who will roll with Darwin Barney in left field and at leadoff Wednesday afternoon against the Diamondbacks.

Zack Greinke (oblique) is scheduled to throw off a mound Wednesday for the first time since landing on the disabled list.

Greinke felt strong after a flat-ground throwing session Tuesday and is ready to take the next step in his rehabilitation from a left oblique strain. The right-hander acknowledged Wednesday that he will probably require a minor league rehab start, which would rule him out for next week's four-game series in Milwaukee. An early-August return is the safer bet.
Jul 20 - 1:11 PM

Danny Valencia is out of the A's starting lineup Wednesday afternoon against the Astros.

Ryon Healy will start at third base and Yonder Alonso will start at first base. Valencia has seen a slight drop in playing time since the arrival of Healy. He remains one of Oakland's better trade chips.
Jul 20 - 12:45 PM

Kevin Kiermaier is out of the Rays' starting lineup on Wednesday afternoon against the Rockies.

Brandon Guyer will start in center field and bat second versus Colorado left-hander Jorge De La Rosa. Kiermaier is 2-for-14 (.143) since returning from a pair of fractures in his left hand.
Jul 20 - 12:25 PM

Mariners activated RHP Felix Hernandez from the 15-day disabled list.

Hernandez will return to the Mariners' rotation Wednesday afternoon against the White Sox. He struck out seven batters over four innings of no-hit ball Friday in his final rehab start with Triple-A Tacoma. The ace right-hander missed nearly two months with a calf strain.
Jul 20 - 12:22 PM

Alex Gordon is absent from the Royals' starting lineup on Wednesday afternoon.

Brett Eibner will start in left field and bat seventh in the matinee game against Indians right-hander Carlos Carrasco. Gordon went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts on Tuesday night and is batting just .178/.277/.329 in 83 plate appearances since his return from a broken scaphoid bone in late June.
Jul 20 - 12:15 PM

Yoenis Cespedes is not in the Mets' starting lineup Wednesday against the Cubs.

Neil Walker and Asdrubal Cabrera will also take a seat against Cubs righty Kyle Hendricks. Michael Conforto is starting in left field and Juan Lagares is in center field in the afternoon game at Wrigley Field.
Jul 20 - 11:34 AM

Adam Duvall is out of the Reds' starting lineup Wednesday afternoon against the Braves.

Jose Peraza will start in left field and bat seventh versus Atlanta right-hander Lucas Harrell. It's a routine day off for Duvall, who's sitting on 23 home runs and 64 RBI.

Nationals GM Mike Rizzo said Wednesday morning that he is not pursuing Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon.

MLB Network's Jon Morosi reported Tuesday that the Nationals had begun showing interest in Blackmon, but Rizzo flat out denied it Wednesday on 106.7’s The Sports Junkies, a sports radio talk show in the D.C. area. Blackmon would make sense for Washington, but he'd also make sense for just about any major league club. The 30-year-old center fielder is batting .307/.370/.484 in 80 games this season with the Rockies while making just $3.5 million. He's under contractual control through 2018.

According to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN, the Giants have scouted Brewers relievers Will Smith and Jeremy Jeffress in their ongoing search for bullpen help.

Crasnick says the Giants are also showing interest in Phillies relievers Jeanmar Gomez and David Hernandez. San Francisco has been tied to Yankees stars Aroldis Chapman and Andrew Miller, but the feeling is the Cubs and Nationals match up better there. Smith, 27, boasts a 2.12 ERA and 0.88 WHIP in 17 innings since returning from a torn LCL in early June. He is under club control through 2019. Jeffress, 28, has a 2.29 ERA and 23 saves in 24 attempts as a first-year closer.

Josh Reddick hit a walk-off, opposite-field RBI single to beat the Astros in the 10th inning of Tuesday night's 4-3 victory.

Reddick didn't exactly scald the walk-off winner against Tony Sipp, but as the old adage goes, he just needed to hit it where they ain't. In this case, the Astros employed the shift when Reddick stepped to the plate. He proceeded to hit an opposite-field grounder that would have likely been gobbled up by Carlos Correa had the shift not been on. As is, the ball just squeaked through to score Marcus Semien. For the season as a whole, Reddick is slashing .298/.378/.439 with six homers and 23 RBI over 205 at-bats.
