Dylan Axelrod went 5 2/3 scoreless innings Saturday in Chicago's 4-3 victory against the Mariners.

Axelrod allowed only three hits and one unearned run. He struck out four. The 27-year-old right-hander was a dominant pitcher in the minor leagues and should hold decent value this summer in AL-only fantasy formats if he can stay in the White Sox starting rotation.

Joey Votto was forced to leave Thursday's game against the Cardinals after getting hit in the face by an errant throw from Tommy Pham.

Votto blooped a double into the outfield in the eighth inning, but Pham's throw came through and drilled him on the chin at second base. There was a considerable amount of blood on his face, though the injury isn't believed to be too serious. Expect the Reds to provide an update on his status after the game.

Jeremy Hellickson was forced to leave Thursday's start against in the fourth inning due to an apparent injury.

It's unclear exactly what occurred at this point, but the trainer came out to check on the veteran right-hander mid at-bat in the fourth inning and the decision was made to pull him out. It's a potentially devastating development for Hellickson, who has had a nice bounceback season in 2016 and is headed for free agency this winter. Expect an update from the Phillies on his status shortly.

Thursday's game between the Indians and Tigers has been postponed due to rain.

The game will be made up on Monday, if necessary, which could potentially throw a wrench into the Wild Card race. Scheduled starters Daniel Norris and Ryan Merritt will be pushed back to Friday.

X-rays on Mike Trout's left shoulder came back negative.

Jesus Montero has been suspended 50 games by Major League Baseball for testing positive for dimethylbutylamine.

Montero has spent all of 2016 at Triple-A in the Blue Jays' organization, batting .317/.349/.438 with 11 homers. The former top prospect will turn 27 in November and his future in the majors is now looking as cloudy as ever.

The Indians have shot down a report from Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports that Michael Brantley (shoulder) could miss "significant time" next season.

Heyman's report said that Brantley's rehab from a second right shoulder surgery could drag past Opening Day next year, but the Indians don't think that will be the case. "Our expectation is that he'll be ready for spring training," said president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti. "We were told after the second surgery that the timeline (for recovery) would be four to five months. As far as I know, nothing has changed." There's no reason to doubt the Indians' belief that Brantley will be ready to go for Opening Day, but the reality is there's a lot up in the air with him given how this year went.

Devon Travis (shoulder) is back in the Blue Jays' starting lineup on Thursday night.

Jason Hammel has been scratched from his scheduled Friday start against the Reds due to right elbow tightness.

Hammel has looked off all month, and this might officially rule him out of the mix for the Cubs' postseason roster. A new starter for Friday has not been announced. The National League Central champs could make it a bullpen game at Great American Ball Park.
