Yu Darvish allowed three runs on six hits over five innings in Sunday night's win over the Angels.

There was some concern that Darvish may have been overworked after nearly throwing a perfect game in his last start, and it's clear that he didn't have his best stuff. He worked in and out of danger, but was able to minimize the damage with six strikeouts. Darvish had to be removed after just 85 pitches due to a blister issue on his right finger. He could be in danger of missing his next start Friday against the Mariners.

Howie Kendrick left Wednesday's game against the Astros after being hit on the left hand/wrist.

Kendrick was plunked on the left hand/wrist in the third inning and was pinch-hit for one inning later. The Phillies will pass along word as to the exact nature of his injury in the coming hours.

J.D. Martinez went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Wednesday's 10-3 win over the Braves.

Martinez thumped a two-run homer off Luke Jackson in the fourth inning, then hit yet another two-run bomb off Ian Krol in the eighth. In five games since being traded over to the Diamondbacks from the Tigers, the outfielder has gone 4-for-17 with three homers and seven RBI. He was slashing .305/.388/.630 with 16 homers and 39 RBI in 57 games with the Tigers prior to getting shipped down to the desert.

Chris Sale struck out 11 while scattering three hits over seven shutout innings in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Mariners.

Two of the three hits Sale surrendered went for doubles, but the Mariners were unable to capitalize on their extremely limited opportunities. With his 11 strikeouts on Wednesday, the ace southpaw is now up to 14 double-digit strikeout games for the season. Those 14 games are the most since Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson both achieved the feat back in 2002. Sale will try to keep it going when he brings a 2.37 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 211/27 K/BB ratio (148 1/3 innings) into a home start against the Indians next time he toes the rubber. He is the frontrunner to win the AL Cy Young at this juncture.

Miguel Sano (hand) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.

Sano was hit by a pitch in the left hand on Monday and initially sat in Tuesday's game before coming on as a pinch-hitter. X-rays have come back negative on his hand, but the Twins are taking no chances with their budding star third baseman. Eduardo Escobar will man the hot corner in his place on Wednesday and is hitting fourth.
Jul 26 - 7:19 PM

Yoenis Cespedes (quad) is in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Cespedes was pulled in the seventh inning on Tuesday due to a bout of quad tightness. That injury would appear to be minor, though, as the outfielder is in the lineup and hitting third in Wednesday's contest.
Jul 26 - 6:58 PM

Avisail Garcia is expected to miss at least two weeks due to a ligament strain in his right thumb.

Garcia will undergo an MRI to determine whether there is any structural damage in the thumb. Alen Hanson will play right field in his place against the Cubs on Wednesday and figures to see extended at-bats while Garcia is out of action. Prior to the injury, the outfielder was hitting .303/.347/.485 with 13 homers and 54 RBI across 88 games played.
Jul 26 - 5:20 PM

Dallas Keuchel (neck) will start against the Tigers in Detroit on Friday.

A neck injury has kept Keuchel out of action since early June. He went through his minor league rehab assignment without issue and is now set to rejoin the rotation. Prior to his injury concern, Keuchel had been pitching to a 1.67 ERA in 11 starts. Filling out the rest of the weekend rotation, Collin McHugh will take the ball on Saturday and Lance McCullers will go on Sunday.
Jul 26 - 5:09 PM

Todd Frazier hit his first home run in a Yankees uniform as part of Wednesday's 9-5 defeat of the Reds.

Frazier took Tony Cingrani deep to left in the Yankees' five-run bottom of the seventh inning. He also singled in the bottom of the third, finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Frazier is 5-for-21 (.238) since being acquired from the White Sox last Wednesday.

Rockies placed RHP Greg Holland on the paternity leave list.

Holland will be away from the club for the next few days to welcome a child with his wife Lacey. Rockies manager Bud Black will probably play the matchups if a save opportunity arises while Holland is gone.
Jul 26 - 4:05 PM

Brewers recalled OF Lewis Brinson from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Brinson is starting in center field and batting seventh Wednesday night against Nationals left-hander Gio Gonzalez. The 23-year-old top prospect struggled in his first taste of major league action last month, but he's capable of much better results down the stretch for a Brewers team with designs on making the postseason. Brinson should start against most left-handers and some righties.
Jul 26 - 3:40 PM

Alex Cobb fired seven innings of one-run ball Wednesday in the Rays' 5-1 victory over the Orioles.

Cobb allowed just one walk and four hits while racking up six strikeouts in the easy-looking 94-pitch effort. The one run he gave up came on a solo homer by Orioles second baseman Jonathan Schoop in the top of the fourth inning. Cobb has run into a couple of rough patches this season, but he owns a cool 3.46 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 90/34 K/BB ratio in 138 innings overall and he's been especially sharp over his last four outings. A road test against the first-place Astros is up next.
