Wednesday's game between the Yankees and Indians has been postponed due to rain.

No makeup date has been announced. Both teams will stick with their originally scheduled starters (Zach McAllister and Phil Hughes) on Thursday. That means Corey Kluber and Ivan Nova will be skipped.

Rays recalled INF Nick Franklin from Triple-A Durham.

Franklin is starting at second base and batting fifth in his Rays debut on Tuesday night against the Yankees. The 23-year-old hit .272/.366/.412 with 11 home runs and 11 stolen bases in 102 games this season between Triple-A Tacoma and Triple-A Durham. He was acquired from the Mariners in the David Price tride.

Matt Adams (oblique) is back in the Cardinals' starting lineup on Tuesday against the Brewers.

Adams has been dealing with a left oblique injury for much of this month and his offensive numbers have cratered. The Cardinals -- lacking a serviceable backup option at first base -- need to get him right down the stretch.
Sep 16 - 4:12 PM

Starling Marte (elbow) is back in the Pirates' starting lineup Tuesday against the Red Sox.

Marte was hit in the left elbow by a pitch Thursday and didn't start a game over the weekend against the Cubs, but he's ready to go it a go. He'll bat sixth in his return Tuesday.
Sep 16 - 3:35 PM

Bryce Harper (flu) is in Tuesday's lineup against the Braves.

Harper left Monday's game with lightheadedness as a result of the flu, but it's not a big deal. He'll bat sixth Tuesday against Aaron Harang as the Nationals attempt to punch their ticket to the postseason.
Sep 16 - 3:23 PM

Anthony Rizzo is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Reds.

Rizzo hit a walk-off homer Monday in his first game since injuring his back late last month. The Cubs are just giving him a planned day off.
Sep 16 - 3:17 PM

Evan Gattis (strep throat) remains out of the Braves' lineup Tuesday.

Gattis is dealing with strep throat and will now miss his eighth straight start. It's unclear when he'll be ready to return.
Sep 16 - 3:11 PM

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Blue Jays plan to make a qualifying offer to impending free agent Melky Cabrera.

A qualifying offer is expected to be somewhere in the range of $15-16 million. According to Heyman, the Blue Jays are hopeful that it will lead to another multi-year agreement. Cabrera batted .301/.351/.458 with 16 home runs and 73 RBI prior to undergoing season-ending surgery earlier this month to repair a broken right pinkie finger.

Yankees placed INF/OF Martin Prado on the 60-day disabled list with appendicitis.

Prado underwent an emergency appendectomy and is now officially out for the rest of the season. The 30-year-old hit .316/.336/.541 with seven home runs and 16 RBI over 37 games after coming over from the Diamondbacks in July and should remain useful in mixed fantasy leagues in 2015.
Sep 16 - 12:05 PM

Michael Morse (oblique) should be ready to return by Friday.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said that Morse was "tentative" during batting practice Monday, so it will likely take him another couple of days to swing with full intensity. The 32-year-old has been sidelined since late August with a strained left oblique.
Sep 16 - 8:54 AM

Matt Shoemaker will undergo an MRI after leaving Monday's start with a "little" discomfort on the left side of his rib cage.

Shoemaker allowed one run over 7 2/3 innings against the Mariners before exiting. He said after the game that he's not overly concerned, but naturally the Angels aren't going to take any chances.
Sep 16 - 8:27 AM

Andrew Cashner spun a two-hit shutout on Monday in a 1-0 win versus the Phillies.

Interestingly, his complete-game shutout came on the same night Anthony Rizzo, for whom he was once traded, hit a walk-off homer. Cashner struck out seven and walked one, needing only 92 pitches, otherwise known as a "Maddux," to finish off the Phillies. The 27-year-old right-hander remains hot, having gone 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA in his last five starts coming into tonight. Of his four wins, Cashner has needed to throw complete games to secure two of them. Now 4-7 with a 2.20 ERA, Cashner hosts the Giants on Saturday.
