Paul Clemens left Monday's appearance with a right pinkie injury.

Clemens was struck by a comebacker and appeared to dislocate the finger, but the Astros' trainer popped it back in place and he stayed in to face one more batter. The club reconsidered after that, though, and decided to remove him. Clemens saved the bullpen with 5 1/3 scoreless relief frames after Erik Bedard lasted only 1/3 of an inning.

The Astros announced that they will call up top prospect Alex Bregman prior to Monday's game versus the Yankees.

Finally, after weeks (months, really) of speculation, Bregman is set to make his major league debut. Astros manager A.J. Hinch admitted that he's not sure yet where Bregman will play but the former first-rounder has seen time at shortstop, third base and left field in the minors this season. Rest assured, he'll play regularly wherever it may be. Bregman has batted .306/.406/.580 with 20 homers and seven steals between Double- and Triple-A this season and needs to be picked up in any fantasy leagues where he's still available.

Jose Altuve went yard twice Sunday as the Astros routed the Angels 13-3 at Minute Maid Park.

Altuve slugged both of his homers off Angels starter Tim Lincecum, who left the game after recording only four outs. Lincecum gave up a total of eight runs on two walks and seven hits. Altuve also added an RBI single in the fifth, finishing the day 3-for-5 with two runs scored and six RBI. The second baseman is slashing .360/.428/.575 with 17 homers, 60 RBI, and 75 runs scored in 98 games this season.

Matt Carpenter (oblique) could begin a rehab assignment later this week.

Carpenter resumed some baseball activities on Friday and evidently has responded well. He shouldn't need too many rehab games before being activated, so a return within the next week or so would seem to be a possibility. Carpenter has missed the last two and a half weeks with a right oblique strain.

Yasiel Puig (hamstring) remained out of the Dodgers' lineup Sunday.

Puig was able to pinch-hit Friday, but he hasn't started a game since tweaking his right hamstring on Thursday. It doesn't appear at this point that a disabled list stint is being considered. Andrew Toles is in right field.

Ryan Schimpf slugged another home run Sunday as the Padres defeated the Nationals 10-6.

Schimpf hit an RBI single in the top of the fourth inning and a solo homer in the top of the eighth, finishing the day 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI. The 28-year-old second baseman now has nine home runs in July, which is a new record for a Padres rookie in a single calendar month. Schimpf was raking at the Triple-A level prior to his mid-June promotion, so maybe this breakout is somewhat for real.

Angel Pagan singled, doubled and triple in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Yankees.

Pagan finished 3-for-5, but alas, he couldn't find the power stroke and missed out on the cycle by a home run. The outfielder's three-hit afternoon pushed his triple-slash to .292/.337/.432. In terms of counting stats, he has five homers, 33 RBI, 37 runs scored and nine steals in 250 at-bats.

Marlins placed LHP Wei-Yin Chen on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 21, with a left elbow sprain.

Chen having an elbow issue was first reported by SiriusXM's Craig Mish. Manager Don Mattingly said that the club is hopeful the injury isn't serious, but it sounds like they might not know for sure until after Chen is examined further. Jarred Cosart has placed Chen in the rotation for the time being, but the Marlins are expected to seek rotation help before the trade deadline.

Addison Russell exited Sunday's game against the Brewers with a bruised left heel.

He fouled a ball off the heel Saturday and it got progressively sore on him Sunday. The Cubs are saying his removal was precautionary, so consider Russell day-to-day. Javier Baez is likely to fill in at shortstop for any amount of time that Russell might miss.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that the Diamondbacks "have let teams know Shelby Miller is available in a trade."

Passan, rather obviously, notes that the price to acquire Miller "isn't nearly what it cost them eight months ago." The right-hander's stock has dropped so much after a 7.14 ERA in 14 starts and a demotion to the minors that you've got to wonder if the D'Backs aren't better off riding it out. Perhaps they think they can capitalize somewhat on a depressed starting pitching market. Robert Murray of FanRag Sports reports that the Dodgers and Marlins are among the teams that have inquired on Miller.

Bruce Levine of WSCR-AM and 670thescore.com reports that the Indians "have the best names on the table" for Aroldis Chapman.

Previous reports have had both the Nationals and Cubs out in front in the sweepstakes for Chapman. There's also been a "mystery team" floated. In other words, welcome to the trade deadline. The Indians already have a capable closer in Cody Allen, but adding Chapman would bolster their bullpen for a possible playoff run.

Carlos Rodon (wrist) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Charlotte on Monday.

White Sox general manager Rick Hahn said whether Rodon needs an additional rehab start will depend on how he feels. In other words, he should rejoin the Pale Hose rotation later this week as long as he doesn't have a setback. Rodon has missed two and a half weeks with a sprained left wrist.
