Padres activated 3B Chase Headley from the 15-day disabled list.

Headley missed the first 14 games of the season with a fracture in the top of his left thumb. He'll face Clayton Kershaw in his first game back, but he's a must-start in fantasy leagues. Jedd Gyorko will now serve as the Padres' primary second baseman.

With new catcher Austin Hedges behind the plate, Andrus stole home off of reliever Kevin Quackenbush. The shortstop has multiple hits in three straight games and is now batting .262/.307/.357 with 50 RBI and 56 runs scored.

A.J. Pollock hit a two-run home run that capped a four-run inning as the Diamondbacks came back to beat the Rockies 5-3 in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader.

With the score tied at 3-3 in the seventh inning, Pollock went oppo boppo against Rockies reliever Jairo Diaz for the two-run shot. Pollock finished 2-for-5 in the game. The 27-year-old is showing no signs of slowing down after a career year, as he's now batting .321/.373/.497 with 15 homers, 60 RBI, 93 runs scored -- most in the National League -- and 33 stolen bases through 128 games.

Franklin Gutierrez went 2-for-4 with a home run and three runs scored, and the Mariners topped the Astros 7-5 on Tuesday.

Gutierrez hit his 11th homer of the season, a solo shot, off Astros starter Scott Feldman in the second inning. Gutierrez also crossed home plate in the third and fifth innings. It continues to be a charmed season for the 32-year-old, who has overcome numerous injuries to own a .310/.358/.643 line through 43 games played.

Kole Calhoun went 3-for-5 with an RBI single and a solo home run as the Angels topped the Athletics on Tuesday.

The Giants finally broke through for a run in the eighth inning with three consecutive one-out singles, chasing Greinke from the game. The right-hander scattered five hits and a walk overall while striking out five. The current front-runner for the NL Cy Young Award, Greinke boasts a 15-3 record with a 1.59 ERA, a 0.85 WHIP, and a 169/32 K/BB ratio over 186 2/3 innings. He'll start on the road against the Angels next.
Sep 2 - 1:03 AM

Brandon Moss hit a three-run, walk-off home run as the Cardinals came back to beat the Nationals 8-5 on Tuesday.

Moss finished 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, but it was the homer off Casey Janssen with two outs in the ninth inning that was the difference. It was the third homer in the last six games for Moss, who is finally starting to show why the Cardinals dealt for him at the trade deadline. He's still hitting just .220/.301/.413 with 18 homers and 57 RBI overall, but Moss is capable of continuing his recent power surge through the final few weeks of the season.
Sep 2 - 12:53 AM

Ian Kinsler went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI as the Tigers downed the Royals 6-5 on Tuesday.

Kinsler knocked an RBI single in the fourth inning before delivering a big two-run blast in the seventh. The homer, his 10th of the season, ended up being the difference in the game. It hasn't been a great year for the Tigers as a whole but the 33-year-old is doing his part, batting .306/.357/.452 with 64 RBI, 84 runs scored and eight steals through 129 games.
Sep 2 - 12:30 AM

Alex Gordon went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in his return to action against the Tigers on Tuesday.

Now healthy, Gordon will carry a .284/.396/.464 line into the season's final month.

Scott Feldman (shoulder) will undergo an MRI on Wednesday.

Sep 1 - 11:59 PM

Glen Perkins returned to the closer role on Tuesday, allowing a run on three hits but earning the save in the Twins' 8-6 win over the White Sox.

It wasn't a smooth return to the ninth inning by any means, but the left-hander was still able to get the job done after back issues forced him out of the role last week. With Perkins taking over as closer, Kevin Jepsen returned to a setup role. Perkins now has 32 saves with a 2.68 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 46/8 K/BB ratio in 50 1/3 innings this year.
