Indians transferred RHP Matt Albers to the restricted list.

Albers left the team last Friday to be present for the birth of his child. He's expected to remain off the roster for the next five days.

Alex Rodriguez had a monster night in Friday's 5-4 win over the Rays, slugging two home runs and hitting a go-ahead RBI single.

He's still got it. Rodriguez launched a solo homer in the second inning before adding a two-run blast in the sixth. He then put the Yankees ahead for good in the eighth inning with a line drive single to center field. This was the 61st multi-homer game of his career and his first since May 23, 2012. He's now up to 658 home runs for his career, which puts him two away from tying Willie Mays for fourth on the all-time list. After missing a year due to a PED suspension, the 39-year-old Rodriguez is batting .344/.432/.781 with four home runs and 11 RBI through 10 games.

Xander Bogaerts went 2-for-4 with a walk-off RBI single in a 3-2 win over the Orioles on Friday night.

Mike Napoli led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a walk against Brian Matusz before Daniel Nava sacrificed him over to second and Bogaerts cashed him in with a bloop single to right field. It was his first career walk-off hit. Bogaerts, who also had a run scored on the night, now owns a healthy .395/.452/.474 batting line through nine games this season. The Red Sox are 7-3 on the year.
Apr 17 - 11:05 PM

Stephen Vogt delivered the first multi-homer game of his career in Friday's loss to the Royals.

Vogt followed a solo blast by Ike Davis with one of his own off Jeremy Guthrie in the fourth inning to tie the game at 3-3. He'd later tag Guthrie again in the seventh for another solo shot, once again bringing the A's even at 4-4. He finished the career night 3-for-4 and is now hitting an impressive .353/.421/.735 with eight RBI in his first season as the A's full-time starting catcher.
Apr 17 - 10:55 PM

Freddie Freeman's two-run homer in the eighth inning on Friday powered the Braves to an 8-7 victory over the visiting Blue Jays.

At the time, Freeman's blast off southpaw Brett Cecil increased the Braves advantage to 8-5, but after a late rally by the opposition it would prove to be the difference in the ballgame. Freeman finished the night 1-for-4 and is now hitting .231/.286/.513 with three bombs and six RBI on the season.
Apr 17 - 10:39 PM

Bartolo Colon spun seven innings of one-run ball in a 4-1 win over the Marlins on Friday.

The Mets have won six straight for the first time since 2011. Colon scattered six hits while walking none and striking out five. The veteran right-hander gave up a solo homer to Giancarlo Stanton, but held the Marlins off the board the rest of the way. He even drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, giving him RBI in back-to-back games. He's doing it all. Colon is now 3-0 with a 2.25 ERA and 18/1 K/BB ratio in 20 innings across his first three starts. He'll look to remain undefeated next week with a start against the Braves at home.
Apr 17 - 10:31 PM

Josh Donaldson blasted his first two home runs as a member of the Blue Jays in a losing effort against the Braves on Friday.

Both of Donaldson's bombs came courtesy of Braves starter Julio Teheran, a two-run job in the third inning and a solo shot in the fifth. In all, the Jays launched five home runs on Friday, with Russell Martin knocking two over the wall as well and Devon Travis chipping in a solo homer. Donaldson is off to a strong start with his new squad, hitting .3002/.354/.512 with nine RBI.
Apr 17 - 10:30 PM

Giancarlo Stanton launched a solo homer in Friday's loss to the Mets.

It was the only offense of the game for the Marlins. Stanton failed to homer in his first nine games this season, but he has now gone deep on back-to-back days. He likely would have led the majors in homers if his 2014 didn't come to a premature end and it's easy to imagine him at the top of the leaderboard this season.
Apr 17 - 10:27 PM

Alcides Escobar was removed from Friday's game against the Blue Jays with a mild left knee strain after being taken out by a hard slide at second base by Brett Lawrie.

The play led to a benches-clearing altercation between the two clubs, as Lawrie slid quite a bit past the base on a ball that the Royals weren't going to be able to turn over for a double play. Luckily, he was able to avoid significant injury and the Royals are listing him as day-to-day.
Apr 17 - 10:21 PM

Max Scherzer dominated the Phillies on Friday, allowing just one run over eight innings in a 7-2 victory.

Scherzer cruised for the most part, giving up just four hits to go along with nine strikeouts and no walks. The only run scored on a ground out from Freddy Galvis in the third. The high-priced right-hander has been as advertised thus far, putting up a 0.83 ERA and 25/4 K/BB ratio in 21 2/3 innings across his first three starts with the Nationals. He's a no-doubt fantasy ace.
Apr 17 - 10:12 PM

Yunel Escobar was removed from Friday's game against the Phillies in the fourth inning with an apparent injury.

Escobar appeared to come up lame while running out a ground ball in his final at-bat and did not take his place in the field defensively. The team should have an update on his status shortly.
Apr 17 - 8:19 PM

Indians manager Terry Francona clarified Friday that Danny Salazar will remain in the starting rotation after Saturday's start against the Twins.

There had been speculation that it would just be a spot start for the young right-hander, but instead he'll bump Zach McAllister to the Tribe's bullpen. With his high-strikeout ability, he makes a terrific free agent target in mixed leagues where he happens to be available.
