White Sox optioned LHP Donnie Veal to Triple-A Charlotte.

Veal owns a 4.26 ERA in 13 appearances this season and has struggled to put left-handed batters away. Brian Omogrosso will replace him on the active roster.

David Peralta (wrist) expects to begin playing in extended spring training games next Wednesday.

Peralta plans to play a few games and then rejoin the Diamondbacks, so it looks like he should return next weekend if all goes well. The outfielder has been on the shelf for the last three weeks with inflammation in his right wrist, but he's been swinging a bat for a few days with no issues.

Diamondbacks placed RHP Rubby De La Rosa on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 26, with a right elbow inflammation.

The club skipped De La Rosa's start last week due to some triceps soreness, among other things. He returned to take the ball on Wednesday in Pittsburgh and struggled and is now on the DL with what the D'Backs are calling an elbow injury. De La Rosa is expected to miss a month of action.
May 27 - 5:40 PM

Diamondbacks placed RHP Shelby Miller on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 25, with a right index finger injury.

Miller hurt the finger last month when he dragged it across the mound on his follow-through after delivering a pitch, and the D'Backs are saying the finger is still an issue. It's unclear at this point how long he'll be sidelined, but the club will likely take its time with Miller given how much he's struggled Archie Bradley is expected to replace him in the rotation.
May 27 - 5:37 PM

Justin Upton (quad) is back in the Tigers' lineup Friday.

Upton hasn't played since Sunday due to tightness in his right quad. He's in left field and batting sixth versus Sean Manaea and the Athletics.
May 27 - 5:24 PM

Eduardo Rodriguez (knee) will be activated from the disabled list to make his season debut on Tuesday in Baltimore.

Clay Buchholz is headed to the bullpen. Rodriguez had a mini-setback with his right knee last week, but he returned to throw seven innings of one-run ball for Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday. Fantasy owners should probably give him a start or two to get his feet wet.
May 27 - 5:15 PM

Red Sox manager John Farrell announced Friday that Clay Buchholz has been moved to the bullpen.

Buchholz was tagged for six runs on Thursday in another poor showing that pushed his ERA up to 6.35, so the move comes as no surprise. Eduardo Rodriguez (knee) will come off the disabled list to start in his place on Tuesday. Buchholz should get another shot in the Red Sox' rotation eventually, but for now he'll be used in long relief.
May 27 - 5:12 PM

Brandon Belt (ankle) remained out of the Giants' lineup Friday.

Belt hasn't played since spraining his left ankle on a slide Wednesday. He's considered day-to-day. The Giants have Buster Posey at first base and Trevor Brown at catcher Friday.
May 27 - 5:10 PM

Hunter Pence (hamstring) remained out of the Giants' lineup Friday.

Pence has been limited to a couple pinch-hitting opportunities over the last week due to a sore right hamstring. Jarrett Parker is filling in in right field.
May 27 - 5:07 PM

Troy Tulowitzki (quad) is back in the Blue Jays' lineup Friday.

Tulo missed the last two games with a sore right quad, but he's ready to go now. He's at shortstop and batting fifth versus Joe Kelly and the Red Sox.
May 27 - 4:51 PM

Michael Brantley (shoulder) will take some dry swings and possibly hit off a tee on Friday.

It's a nice step, although there remains no timetable for Brantley to return to games so it's going to be a long process. The outfielder was placed on the disabled list two weeks ago due to fatigue in his surgically-repaired right shoulder.
May 27 - 4:31 PM

Dodgers purchased the contract of LHP Julio Urias from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Urias will make his major league debut on Friday against the Mets. The top prospect has put up a 1.10 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 44/8 K/BB ratio through 41 innings this season at Oklahoma City and was in the midst of a 27-inning scoreless streak at the time of his promotion. He's filling in for Alex Wood (triceps) and might be sent down after the start, although the Dodgers have discussed using Urias as a reliever.
