Andrew Bailey (biceps) threw off flat ground Friday.

Bailey was unavailable for Thursday's game due to right biceps soreness. He's already feeling better, but Red Sox manager John Farrell will likely stay away from him over the next couple of days. Joel Hanrahan, who notched the save Thursday, will handle the closer role for now.

Shane Greene finally gave up a run but moved to 3-0, anyway, tossing seven frames of one-run ball in a 9-1 victory over the White Sox.

The one tally charged against him easily could have been unearned, as J.D. Martinez misplayed a ball in the sixth inning that was scored a triple. Greene went 21 2/3 frames before giving up a run this season. He walked four and struck out just three, but the righty surrendered only five hits, with the questionable triple being the only one that went for extra bases. Greene will take a microscopic 0.39 ERA into a start against the Indians next weekend.

Stephen Strasburg had his first good start of the season on Sunday, giving just one run in 7 1/3 innings in a win over the Phillies.

Strasburg had retired the first 14 Phillies he faced before Carlos Ruiz singled to left field with two outs in the fifth inning. He had shut the Phillies out over his first seven innings as well, but relented a run in the eighth on a Freddy Galvis RBI single to center. Overall, Strasburg allowed five hits, walked two, and struck out seven. His first two starts were subpar, so it was nice to see him get back on track, even if it was against the lowly Phillies. Strasburg will look to keep it going next weekend in Miami against the Marlins.
Apr 19 - 4:21 PM

Yoenis Cespedes ripped a grand slam and a two-run shot in Sunday's blowout victory over the White Sox.

Cespedes' slam in the first inning off of Jose Quintana got the scoring going for the Tigers and he took Quintana deep again in the third inning to pad their lead. The slugger entered the weekend without a longball but finishes it with three to go along with 10 RBI and a nice .300/.314/.600 batting line.
Apr 19 - 4:15 PM

Ruben Tejada went 1-for-4 with a three-run double as the Mets escaped with a win over the Marlins on Sunday.

Tejada struck the big blow in the Mets' seven-run fourth inning, clearing the bases with a double to chase Tom Koehler from the game. It was only Tejada's third start of the season. He'll still mostly be relegated to the bench despite the recent injury to third baseman David Wright.
Apr 19 - 4:04 PM

Billy Hamilton (groin) is not in the Reds' lineup Sunday.

Hamilton strained his groin during Saturday's game and is listed as day-to-day. Brennan Boesch is taking his spot in center field. Devin Mesoraco (hip), as expected, is also still out, with Tucker Barnhart catching Mike Leake. The Reds are also going with Skip Schumaker in left field over Marlon Byrd.
Apr 19 - 4:00 PM

Ben Zobrist left Sunday's game against the Royals with an apparent injury.

Zobrist didn't suffer any obvious injury but had to be removed while playing defense in the fifth inning. He's dealt with a heel issue recently, so that could be the culprit. Expect more information on his status soon.
Apr 19 - 3:57 PM

Omar Infante left Sunday's game versus the Athletics with an apparent leg injury.

Infante was spotted wincing in the fifth inning as he pulled into second base with a double. The Royals could be without both of their middle infielders for a bit with Alcides Escobar (knee) also sidelined. Expect an update on Infante shortly.
Apr 19 - 3:55 PM

Jonny Gomes walked, doubled, and knocked in four runs in Sunday's win against the Blue Jays.

Gomes cleared the bases in the top of the first inning to stake the Braves to an early 3-0 lead. He added a sacrifice fly in the third inning. The 34-year-old veteran is slashing a productive .261/.333/.565 with two home runs and seven RBI. Gomes' fantasy appeal, however, is limited to NL-only formats.
Apr 19 - 3:49 PM

Travis d'Arnaud has been diagnosed with a fracture in his right hand.

The Mets have now lost both d'Arnaud and Jerry Blevins to fractures in the same day. It's such rotten timing for d'Arnaud, who was off to a blistering .317/.356/.537 start at the plate. How long he'll be sidelined will depend on the specifics of the fracture, but obviously it's going to be an extended absence. Look for the Mets to promote Kevin Plawecki to fill in for d'Arnaud.
Apr 19 - 3:49 PM

X-rays have revealed that Jerry Blevins has a fractured left forearm.

Blevins suffered the injury when he was hit by a comebacker Sunday. It's a big blow to the Mets' bullpen that already lost lefty Josh Edgin for the season. A timetable for the reliever isn't known at this point, but obviously he's looking at an extended absence. Blevins is unscored upon in seven appearances this season.
Apr 19 - 3:33 PM

X-rays confirmed that Devon Travis did not suffer a left rib fracture.

Travis had to leave Sunday's game following a hit by pitch, but he managed to escape with just a bruise. The Blue Jays are considering the second baseman day-to-day.
