Carlos Quentin was scratched from the Padres' starting lineup on Friday due to a balky knee.

Jesus Guzman will replace him in left field. The oft-injured slugger is hitting just .208/.313/.415 with two homers and nine RBI through his first 18 games on the season. He's considered day-to-day.

Zach Eflin fired seven innings of one-run ball Sunday in the Phillies' 5-2 defeat of the Braves.

Eflin put up zero after zero until the top of the seventh, when Matt Kemp connected for a solo home run. Eflin gave up just three hits in all and didn't issue a single walk while striking out three. The 23-year-old right-hander has been impressive through two starts and will try to keep it all working next time out at Dodger Stadium.
Apr 23 - 4:31 PM

Ivan Nova was dominant in a victory over his former club on Sunday, allowing just one run on four hits over seven innings in a victory over the Yankees.

Nova punched out a season-high seven batters while issuing only one free pass. He kept the Bombers off the board until the seventh inning where Jacoby Ellsbury got him for a solo home run. Now 2-2 on the season, Nova will bring a stellar 2.00 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 15/1 K/BB ratio into Saturday's outing against the Marlins in Miami on Saturday.
Apr 23 - 4:30 PM

Scott Schebler finished 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI in the Reds' 7-5 win over the Cubs on Sunday.

Schebler tagged Cubs starter John Lackey for a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning and he plated Eugenio Suarez with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth. Schebler now has four home runs and nine RBI on the season but a weak .175/.257/.397 overall batting line.

Kendall Graveman (shoulder) will throw another bullpen session Monday and is on track to start Thursday in Anaheim.

Graveman went on the disabled list a week ago with a shoulder injury, but the move has looked precautionary from the beginning, as the righty resumed throwing a day after going on the DL. The righty has put up a 2.00 ERA in his first three starts and should be started in deeper fantasy leagues this week.
Apr 23 - 2:33 PM

Kyle Seager was scratched from the Mariners' lineup Sunday with a sore hip.

It's something that been bothering him for a few days, although Seager said he'd be available to pinch-hit so it looks like a minor issue. Mike Freeman will fill in at third base.
Apr 23 - 2:00 PM

Rajai Davis (hamstring) remained out of the Athletics' lineup Sunday.

It will be a third straight start that he's missed due to a tight left hamstring. Davis worked out prior to Saturday's game and presumably will Sunday, as well, so it appears he's close to returning. The A's are also giving Khris Davis a day off Sunday, as they have Matt Joyce, Jaff Decker and Matt Olson in the outfield.
Apr 23 - 1:36 PM

Luis Valbuena (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Inland Empire on Monday.

Working his way back from a right hamstring strain, Valbuena slated to play 5-7 games before being activated from the disabled list. With C.J. Cron struggling, Valbuena should play regularly against righties once he returns.
Apr 23 - 1:26 PM

Mariners recalled 1B Daniel Vogelbach from Triple-A Tacoma.

Vogelbach should immediately become a regular at first base against right-handers given Danny Valencia's struggles. The rotund first baseman struggled in his brief audition with the Mariners last season and also in spring training, but he was off to a .309/.409/.473 start at Tacoma and has offered power and good plate discipline consistently in the minors. He's worth a look in deeper fantasy formats.
Apr 23 - 1:19 PM

Mariners designated OF Leonys Martin for assignment.

Martin was off to a brutal .111/.172/.130 start this season, but it's a surprise that the Mariners are cutting him loose given his plus defense and ability to steal bases and offer a little pop when he's right. He could clear waivers given his $4.85 million salary, but Martin won't be out of a job long. The Tigers are an obvious fit. Jarrod Dyson will slide over to handle center field now, with the Mariners likely going with a combination of Guillermo Heredia, Taylor Motter and Danny Valencia in left.
Apr 23 - 1:11 PM

X-rays on Denard Span's right shoulder came back negative.

Span injured the shoulder when he collided with the outfield wall on Saturday. While it appears he's avoided a serious injury, he's sitting out Sunday and could potentially miss more time. Gorkys Hernandez is in center field in his place.
Apr 23 - 1:00 PM

Salvador Perez (neck) remained out of the Royals' lineup Sunday.

He hasn't caught since Thursday and has now missed two straight starts due to a sore neck. Drew Butera will catch again. The Royals are also giving Lorenzo Cain his first day off of the season, as Jorge Bonifacio is in center field.
