Chris Davis (knee) said he hopes to be back in the Orioles' lineup on Tuesday.

Davis left Friday night's game after injuring his right knee in the first inning, but an MRI showed no structural damage. He'll sit out Sunday as a precautionary measure.

Clayton Kershaw (biceps) threw four innings in a simulated game Saturday.

After the outing, Kershaw declared himself ready to go in five days if the Dodgers need him. Whether the team feels the same way is unclear. Either way, the bottom line is Kershaw is close to a return. He's been on the disabled list since May 6 with left biceps tendinitis.
May 26 - 7:09 PM

Cubs placed RHP Yu Darvish on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to May 23, with right triceps tightness.

Darvish owns a disappointing 4.95 ERA in eight starts, so perhaps this injury has contributed to some of his struggles. It's unclear when the triceps injury occurred, though, especially since his last outing was a positive one. Tyler Chatwood will make Darvish's scheduled Sunday start.

X-rays taken on Dexter Fowler's right knee Saturday were negative, and he's considered day to day.

Fowler was hit in the knee by Trevor Williams in the fourth inning of Saturday's game, requiring assistance just to get off the field, but it appears he avoided any serious damage. The knee will likely still be sore Sunday, so the outfielder may require another day or two before he's back in the lineup. Tyler O'Neill should draw the starts while Fowler is out.

Daniel Mengden was brilliant in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Diamondbacks, tossing a complete game shutout while allowing just two hits over his nine innings of work.

Beautiful, beautiful outing by Mengden. He struck out five without walking a batter on the afternoon and finished up having thrown an economic 102 pitches (72 strikes). He's been hot all season, but right now he's blazing, having fired off 16 shutout frames with just four hits allowed over his last two starts combined. On the macro scale, he has held the opposition to one or no runs in six of his last eight starts. The 25-year-old right-hander will try to make it three straight shutout performances when he carries his 2.85 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 43/6 K/BB ratio (66 1/3 frames) into a home start against the Rays next time out.
May 26 - 6:42 PM

Buster Posey is out of Saturday's lineup against the Cubs with right hip soreness.

He's just day to day and is available to pinch-hit, but it's an ailment nonetheless. He's in question for Sunday's game as well. Nick Hundley is getting the start post-dish Saturday, and would start Sunday's game if Posey is out for that one, too. Still, it's not considered serious.
May 26 - 5:52 PM

Alex Reyes (elbow) will make his season debut Wednesday against the Brewers, according to Craig Mish of Sirius XM.

Reyes made quick work of his four minor league rehab starts, striking out 44 over 23 scoreless innings, and it was only a question of when, not if, he'd get into a major league game in the coming days. With Reyes back and in fine form, the Cardinals' rotation is suddenly stout with he, Jack Flaherty, Luke Weaver, Miles Mikolas and Michael Wacha and, when he returns, Carlos Martinez in tow. Reyes is surely owned in most competitive leagues, but if he's available, correct that immediately, especially now with firm plans known.

Rockies recalled INF Ryan McMahon from Triple-A Albuquerque.

McMahon was immediately inserted into the Rockies' lineup for Saturday's game, playing second base and batting seventh against the Reds. McMahon hit .253/.320/.429 at Triple-A after originally breaking camp with the big club, but he'd been warming up at the dish in recent weeks. With DJ LeMahieu sidelined, McMahon could garner the lion's share of playing time at the keystone if he hits better this time around.

Andrew Benintendi homered, tripled and drove in three runs on Saturday, leading the Red Sox in an 8-6 victory over the Braves.

Benintendi greeted Jesse Biddle with a solo shot in the fourth inning that cut the Red Sox' deficit to 5-4. He then smoked a two-out, two-run triple in the seventh to increase their lead to 8-5. He finished the afternoon 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and is now slashing a healthy .283/.370/.489 with six homers, 33 RBI and eight stolen baseson the season. He continues to be a terrific five-category producer in fantasy leagues.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Shohei Ohtani will pitch one of the team's games in the upcoming four-game series against the Tigers in Detroit.

"We do expect if everything goes well he’ll pitch sometime in Detroit," Scioscia said. That's a big window -- the series starts Monday and goes through Thursday -- but at least the window is open. He last pitched May 20, and the team opted to push back his scheduled start Sunday to manage his workload. When on the hill, the 23-year-old has been terrific, going 4-1 with a 3.35 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 52/14 K/BB ratio overall.
May 26 - 4:33 PM

Indians placed LHP Andrew Miller on the 10-day disabled list with right knee inflammation.

There hasn't been any public chatter recently about the knee giving him issues, but anyone who's seen the results of his recent outings could have figured something wasn't right. Since coming off the 10-day DL on May 11 after a left hamstring strain, he's given up runs in three of his six outings. The knee also gave Miller problems last year.
May 26 - 4:22 PM

Matt Davidson (back) was scratched from the White Sox' starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the Tigers.

Davidson was set to return after missing the previous three gamesdue to back stiffness, but he didn't feel right after taking batting practice on the field prior to the game. Jose Rondon has replaced him in the White Sox' lineup and will bat cleanup against Francisco Liriano and the Tigers.
