Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Jered Weaver (elbow) is more than two weeks away from rejoining the rotation.

Weaver on Thursday will throw his first bullpen session since fracturing his non-pitching elbow. He needs to build up his innings, though, and will be sent to extended spring training and on a rehab assignment before returning. The right-hander should be back in a big league uniform by the end of the month.

Wil Myers is not in the Padres' lineup for Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks.

It's an expected day off for the outfielder, who played three straight minor league rehab games before returning for Friday's win over the Diamondbacks. He's expected to be back in there Sunday. With Manuel Margot back and in center field, Franchy Cordero slides over to right with Jose Pirela in left Saturday.

Byron Buxton (migraines) took batting practice Saturday for the first time since going on the disabled list.

That's a positive sign, especially after manager Paul Molitor said Friday that Buxton was showing "slight improvement." It will still likely be a process for Buxton to return, with more baseball activities and possibly a rehab assignment still to come, but being able to take BP suggests he's turned or is close to turning a corner. Buxton hasn't played since April 15 due to the migraines, which he suffered on the Twins' trip to San Juan.

Corey Knebel (hamstring) threw off a mound Saturday for the first time since going on the disabled list.

The Brewers will proceed with caution, according to manager Craig Counsell, because Knebel's hamstring injury came while pitching. That likely means more bullpen sessions than perhaps is custom for such an injury. With that said, there's still no clear timetable on a possible return, but Saturday was a positive step.

Padres activated Manuel Margot from the 10-day disabled list.

Margot missed the minimum after being hit in the ribs by a 95 mph fastball during a game in Colorado. The move is well-timed, as fellow outfielder Hunter Renfroe hit the DL Saturday with elbow inflammation. Margot has struggled out of the gate but there's plenty of season left, and hopes are still high for his sophomore campaign after a promising rookie year.

Delino DeShields (hand) remained on a rehab assignment Saturday, serving as the designated hitter for Double-A Frisco's game Saturday.

There was some thought that DeShields would return Saturday after playing with Frisco Thursday and Friday, but he'll get at least one more game in the minors before being reinstated. He's so far ahead of schedule that another day isn't any cause for concern. He's got three hits in six at-bats with a run scored through two rehab appearances.
Apr 21 - 4:17 PM

Aaron Judge blasted his sixth home run of the season on Saturday, powering the Yankees to a 9-1 victory over the Blue Jays.

Judge, who entered the contest with a terrific history against Marcus Stroman, tagged the right-hander for a towering blast into the third deck in left field to get the Yankees on the board in the third inning. He capped off the game's scoring with an RBI single in the sixth. Judge finished the afternoon 2-for-4 plus a walk with two runs scored and three RBI. He's now hitting a sizzling .338/.472/.634 with six long balls, 15 RBI and two stolen bases.

Mets manager Mickey Callaway announced Saturday that Matt Harvey will be moved to the bullpen.

With Jason Vargas returning to the rotation, the Mets had to move somebody out, and Harvey and his 6.00 ERA are the choice. The move wasn't entirely out of the blue, as Callaway said his spot would be reassessed after he allowed six runs in six innings in a loss to the Braves on Saturday. Injuries have dimmed his bright future, and while he could be an effective reliever, his days of being a frontline starter are likely over.

Tommy Pham is absent from the Cardinals' starting lineup on Saturday.

Pham returned to the lineup on Friday after missing a few games with a groin injury, but it appears that the Cardinals are going to play it safe and ease him back into action. Harrison Bader is starting in center field and batting eighth for the Cardinals.
Apr 21 - 10:56 AM

Mitch Moreland had just one hit over four at-bats in Friday's 7-3 win at Oakland, but the hit was good for a grand slam.

Moreland's bases-clearing homer came off of Emilio Pagan in the sixth inning and it was the big blow to break a 3-3 tie. He is slashing .333/.400/.615, doing a good job in the middle of a powerful Red Sox lineup. Moreland is expected to remain a part-time player for now, but if he stays hot he could force his way into the lineup on a more frequent basis.
Apr 21 - 2:31 AM

Clayton Kershaw allowed four earned runs, nine hits and no walks with four strikeouts over seven innings in Friday's loss against the Nationals.

Kershaw lost the rare battle between three-time Cy Young Award winners, as Max Scherzer was much more efficient. It was the first time a pair of three-time Cy Young winners hooked up since Greg Maddux against Roger Clemens back in 2006. Kershaw didn't lose his third decision until Sept. 7 last season. He'll next take the ball on Wednesday in Arizona opposite Zack Godley.
Apr 21 - 2:18 AM

Jhoulys Chacin rattled off six shutout innings during an 8-0 victory over the Marlins on Friday.

He scattered four singles and three walks while notching five strikeouts in the gem outing. It was his first win in a Brewers uniform. He will take a 4.18 ERA and 1.73 WHIP into a much tougher start against the Cubs at Wrigley Field on Thursday.
