Ichiro Suzuki is not in the Yankees' starting lineup on Thursday afternoon against the Rockies.

It's a routine day of rest for the veteran outfielder, who is batting just .269/.319/.346 in 29 games this season. Ben Francisco will start in right field Thursday in Denver.

Mitch Haniger (oblique) still isn't ready for a minor league rehab assignment.

Haniger suffered a Grade 2 strain of his right oblique about a month and still feels soreness after hitting. The Mariners will wait until the symptoms subside before clearing him for game action, but it's unclear when that might be. It's too bad, as Haniger was off to a fantastic start prior to the injury.
May 29 - 2:59 PM

Dustin Pedroia was diagnosed with a left wrist sprain.

Pedroia suffered the injury in a collision at first base in the first inning of Monday's game. The veteran second baseman has a history of playing through injury, but it's unclear how long he'll be sidelined. It's worth noting that he had surgery on the same wrist back in 2014. There should be more clarity on his status after the game.
May 29 - 2:56 PM

Rays recalled RHP Jose De Leon from Triple-A Durham.

This confirms a report from ESPN's Buster Olney. De Leon is expected to provide some bullpen depth behind Erasmo Ramirez for Monday's game against the Rangers. He's obviously a name to keep an eye on, but it's unclear if he'll stick around for long.
May 29 - 1:57 PM

Daniel Murphy (illness) has returned to the Nationals' lineup Monday against the Giants.

Murphy was held out of the starting lineup over the weekend while dealing with a stomach bug. He should be good to go moving forward.
May 29 - 1:37 PM

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said Monday that Steven Matz (elbow) will make one more rehab start.

The same goes for Seth Lugo, who is making his way back from an elbow injury. Matz was brilliant in his latest start Sunday with Triple-A Las Vegas, striking out eight batters over five perfect innings. However, the Mets want him to get stretched out to 90 pitches before making his return. Matz has been out all season with a flexor strain, but he could provide a huge boost to this rotation if he's right.
May 29 - 1:28 PM

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said Monday that the club hopes Yoenis Cespedes (quad, hamstring) will be ready in 7-10 days.

Cespedes originally landed on the disabled list in late April with a left hamstring injury, but he was held out of a rehab game over the weekend with right quad soreness. Fortunately, it doesn't sound like a major concern right now. The Mets are hoping Cespedes will be able to DH when the club squares off against the Rangers next week.
May 29 - 1:26 PM

Cardinals optioned OF Randal Grichuk to High-A Palm Beach.

The move clears a spot for Jose Martinez's return from the disabled list. Grichuk has struggled with a .222/.276/.377 batting line across 46 games this season and the Cardinals want him to work on his strike zone discipline in the minors. Tommy Pham will get a chance at regular playing time, and deservedly so.
May 29 - 12:55 PM

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Monday that Alex Wood (SC joint inflammation) is only expected to miss one start.

It's an encouraging development. Wood was placed on the disabled list Monday with left SC joint inflammation, but it's not considered a long-term issue. Fantasy owners surely hope so, as the southpaw owns a brilliant 1.69 ERA through eight starts and two relief appearances this season.
May 29 - 12:26 PM

Adam Jones (ankle, hip) has been scratched from Monday's lineup against the Yankees.

Jones was in the original lineup, but he apparently didn't feel 100 percent during his morning workout. Consider him day-to-day. Joey Rickard will cover center field duties again.
May 29 - 12:02 PM

Miguel Sano has returned to the Twins' lineup on Monday against the Astros.

Sano was held out of the lineup for back-to-back games over the weekend in order to clear his head and work on his swing. The young slugger has one hit in his last 16 at-bats with 12 strikeouts. He should get back to mashing soon enough.
May 29 - 11:17 AM

Red Sox activated LHP David Price from the 10-day disabled list.

Price will make his long-awaited season debut Monday against the White Sox. The southpaw allowed six runs in 5 2/3 innings over two minor league rehab starts, but the most important thing is that he didn't have any issues with his elbow. The Red Sox have been playing much better recently and getting a healthy Price back should provide a big lift to this rotation.
