Will Middlebrooks (ribs) is back in the Red Sox starting lineup on Thursday night against the Twins.

Middlebrooks was removed from Tuesday's game after bruising his ribs on a nasty collision with teammate David Ross. Both players sat out Wednesday, and they're both back in the starting lineup Thursday vs. Minnesota.

Ryan Braun (finger) is back in the brewers' lineup Sunday.

Braun didn't start the previous five games after undergoing cryotherapy on his right thumb, although he did come off the bench Saturday. He's in left field and batting third versus Luke Weaver and the Cardinals.

Noah Syndergaard (finger) threw a 15-pitch bullpen session Sunday.

Everything went well. Syndergaard will throw another bullpen session Tuesday before then throwing a live batting practice session Friday. "Thor" has missed a month of action with a finger injury and presumably will require multiple rehab starts before rejoining the Mets' rotation.

Xander Bogaerts (finger) is back in the Red Sox' lineup Sunday.

Bogaerts sat out Saturday after spraining his left index finger on a slide Friday, but he's fine. He is at shortstop and batting fifth against Marco Gonzales and the Mariners.

Yu Darvish (triceps) will begin a rehab assignment with Low-A South Bend on Monday.

Darvish has missed over a month of action with a triceps issue, so he figures to require multiple rehab outings before rejoining the Cubs' rotation. He's posted a disappointing 4.95 ERA so far in his first year in Chicago.

Braves placed RHP Arodys Vizcaino on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to June 18, with right shoulder inflammation.

Vizcaino has battled shoulder soreness off and on all season and hasn't pitched in a week. He'll be eligible to return later this week but it's unclear at this point whether he'll be ready at that time. A.J. Minter will get the first shot to close for the Braves in Vizcaino's absence. Dan Winkler could also be in the mix, although he's struggled lately.
Jun 24 - 10:55 AM

Jean Segura (arm) remained out of the Mariners' lineup Sunday.

It's the fourth straight game he's missed due to an infection in his arm. Andrew Romine is at shortstop.
Jun 24 - 10:47 AM

Kris Bryant is missing a second straight start Sunday because of a sore left shoulder.

The Cubs believe at this time that the ailment is minor, so Bryant should return sometime during the early-week series against the Dodgers unless he has a setback. Ian Happ is at third base Sunday.

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports that the Rangers have made Adrian Beltre available via trade.

Beltre has 10-and-5 rights and thus has the ability to veto any trade, but the 39-year-old could be willing to approve a deal in order to get a shot to play in the postseason. Grant says that the Rangers are also willing to listen to offers for relievers Keone Kela and Jake Diekman. Beltre has dealt with injuries this season but is sporting a .314/.365/.456 batting line. It's been reported previously that the Phillies are one club known to have interest in him.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Padres have shown interest in Maikel Franco.

It's possible the Phillies may be willing to move on from Franco -- who has frustrated with his inconsistency -- and Rosenthal says Philly could target one of the Padres' relievers. However, they would likely need to add an infielder first with J.P. Crawford (hand) sidelined. Philadelphia has been connected to Adrian Beltre.

Mike Leake was brilliant in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Red Sox, firing off eight scoreless innings while allowing just three hits.

Awesome showing for Leake, who struck out five and walked two in the primetime spotlight. He did so in ruthlessly economic fashion, too, requiring just 98 pitches (61 strikes) to make it through his eight innings of work. It no doubt helped that he was backed by the offense, which plated seven runs against Boston pitching in the win. The strong outing was exactly the kind of rebound performance that Leake needed after he was knocked for five runs by these same Red Sox in his previous outing. He's held the opposition to two or fewer runs in six of his last seven outings, with that aforementioned five-run stinker the lone outlier in the lot. Leake will carry a 4.11 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 60/23 K/BB ratio (100 2/3 innings) into a road date with the Orioles in his next scheduled outing.
Jun 23 - 10:19 PM

Trevor Bauer allowed one run on five hits while striking out 11 in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Tigers.

Bauer has been on an out-and-out strikeout tear of late, with Saturday's 11 whiffs of Tigers batters marking the fifth time in six starts in which he has racked up double-digit strikeouts. The only run to score over his 6 1/3 innings of work came when he uncorked a wild pitch to allow JaCoby Jones to scamper home from third in the second inning. He wrapped up his superlative evening having thrown 112 pitches (72 for strikes). Bauer will bring a 2.44 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 140/35 K/BB ratio (107 innings) into a road showdown with the A's in his next scheduled outing. He's in the midst of putting together a career-best season.
