Willie Bloomquist (oblique) has resumed taking batting practice.

Bloomquist was given a weekend off after he still felt something in his oblique during an extended spring training game. He's unlikely to return this month. "I wouldn’t call it a setback," Bloomquist said. "It just wasn’t ready for that type of intensity yet, and there’s only one way to find out. You’re feeling good in batting practice and everything else, but game speed is a little bit different."

David Freese walloped a three-run double in the second inning on Sunday, leading the Pirates to a 4-3 victory over Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers.

It was his lone hit in four at-bats on the night, but proved to be the difference in the ballgame. Freese continues to excel in the middle of the Pirates lineup, slashing .290/.369/.448 with six bombs and 30 RBI.

Trevor Story is heading for X-rays on his hand after being drilled by a pitch leading off the ninth inning against the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

Story was drilled leading off the ninth inning, then came around to score the game-winning run on Mark Reynolds' walk-off blast. The Rockies are hopeful that his hand isn't broken, but it remains a very real possibility at this time. Expect an update on his status shortly.

Mark Reynolds blasted a walk-off two-run homer on Sunday, powering the Rockies to a 9-7 victory over the Diamondbacks.

The Rockies clubbed four home runs in total on the afternoon, with Trevor Story's game-tying blast in the seventh and Reynolds' game winner proving to be the difference. He finished the afternoon 1-for-4 and also delivered a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. He has been a very valuable addition to the Rockies lineup this season, slashing a healthy .291/.356/.462 with eight long balls and 31 RBI.

Conor Gillaspie hit a walkoff RBI double in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Giants beat the Phillies 8-7 on Sunday afternoon in San Francisco.

Gillaspie drove in Ramiro Pena, who had slapped a one-out double a couple pitches before. Gillaspie also had a single and he got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the third, finishing the day 2-for-4 with two big RBI. He will continue to get regular playing time while Matt Duffy recovers from an Achilles strain and is worth consideration in NL-only fantasy formats.

Matt Carpenter blasted a pair of bombs at Safeco Field on Sunday, helping to power the Cardinals to an 11-6 victory over the Mariners.

As a team, the Cardinals socked six dingers in the contest. Carpenter's first solo shot came in the sixth inning, extending their lead to 6-3. He then capped off the game's scoring with another solo blast off Vidal Nuno in the ninth. Carpenter also tripled in the contest, finishing the day 3-for-6 with three runs scored. He's having another outstanding season atop the Cardinals lineup, slashing .300/.419/.585 with 13 long balls and 47 RBI.

Bud Norris was superb in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Mets, hurling seven innings of shutout ball.

The eight strikeouts marked a season-high for Norris. He scattered four hits and did not walk a batter over his seven innings of work. Since entering the starting rotation at the beginning of June, the 31-year-old right-hander has allowed more than two runs just once in five starts (he allowed three in the outlier). He will look to continue this nice roll in a home showdown with the Marlins next time he toes the rubber.

Tanner Roark fired seven shutout innings Sunday in the Nationals' 3-2 defeat of the Brewers.

Roark scattered seven hits -- two doubles, five singles -- and one walk across his seven scoreless frames. He struck out seven. The 29-year-old right-hander has been a nice surprise for the Nationals this season, now with a 2.96 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 89/32 K/BB ratio in 100 1/3 innings. He finished with a 4.38 ERA in 2015. Next is a home start versus the Reds.

Chris Davis connected for a first-inning grand slam in Sunday's 12-5 win over the Rays.

Davis launched his granny off of Rays starter Drew Smyly in the first inning. He would later add a single to finish 2-for-4. The slugger is working to a .240/.355/.498 triple-slash with 18 homers and an even 50 RBI over 267 at-bats. It will take a nice second-half power push to reach the 47 dingers he hit in 2015.
Jun 26 - 5:35 PM

Oswaldo Arcia went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a two-run double in Sunday's loss to the Orioles.

Arcia came over from the Twins in a trade on Friday. He failed to pick up a hit in his first three at-bats with his new club, but came through in a big way on Sunday. He notched a solo home run in the fourth inning and a two-run double in the fifth to finish with three RBI. In 103 at-bats with the Twins prior to the trade, the 25-year-old outfielder was hitting just .214/.289/.369 with four homers and 12 RBI. He is young enough and talented enough that his career shouldn't be considered a lost cause yet, though it is off to a rocky enough start.
Jun 26 - 5:29 PM

Ian Kennedy fired seven innings of one-run ball Sunday in the Royals' 6-1 defeat of the Astros.

Kennedy dominated in what might have been his best start in a Royals uniform, yielding just three hits and a walk while striking out 11. The one run he gave up came on an Evan Gattis solo shot in the top of the sixth inning. Kennedy now stands 6-6 with a cool 3.96 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 85/29 K/BB ratio 88 2/3 innings this season, and he has a nice matchup next week in Philly.
Jun 26 - 5:00 PM

Chris Sale limited the Blue Jays to two runs over eight innings Sunday in a 5-2 victory for the White Sox.

Sale had a stretch of mediocrity between late May and mid-June, but he's back to his top-tier ways now. The ace left-hander held a dangerous Red Sox offense to one run on four hits over seven innings Tuesday and he mostly shut down the Jays on Sunday, scattering five hits and two walks across eight frames. The only runs he gave up came on solo shots by Troy Tulowitzki and Junior Lake in the top of the eighth.
