Mike Trout slugged his sixth home run of the season in the Angels' 3-2 win over the White Sox on Saturday.

Trout hit a two-run blast off White Sox starter Jose Quintana in the top of the first inning and added a single in the third. He was hitless in his other two at-bats. The 21-year-old outfielder is hitting .283/.351/.513 with 25 RBI, 23 runs scored and five stolen bases in 36 games played. Another special season is in store.

Nicholas Castellanos hit a solo homer off Pirates right-hander Tyler Glasnow on Sunday in Grapefruit League play.

Castellanos was a force down the stretch last season, after moving from third base to right field, and he has basically picked up where he left off -- making tons of hard contact so far in Tigers camp. The 25-year-old has big fantasy upside for 2018. He finished with 26 home runs and 101 RBI over 157 games in 2017.

Trevor Bauer was dominant in his first start of spring training on Sunday; striking out six hitters and not allowing a hit against the Reds.

It's tough to do much better than this, as Bauer struck out every hitter he faced and threw 24-of-28 pitches for strikes. The 27-year-old right-hander had his best season in 2017; winning 17 games and striking out 196 hitters in 176 innings. It wouldn't be a shock if he put up similar -- if not better -- numbers as he enters the prime of his career.

Phillies manager Gabe Kapler named Aaron Nola his Opening Day starter on Sunday.

Nola allowed three earned runs over two innings Sunday in his Grapefruit League debut against the Yankees, but that's obviously not a concern here in late February. The 24-year-old right-hander carries major fantasy upside into 2018 after registering a 3.54 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 184/49 K/BB ratio over 168 innings in 2017.

Miguel Sano (leg) is slated to make his spring debut at third base on Wednesday.

Sano is a little behind schedule this spring after having surgery last November to repair a stress reaction in his left leg, but he's on track for game action this week. The Twins' third baseman is still awaiting word on MLB's investigation into a sexual assault claim against him.
Feb 25 - 4:04 PM

Clayton Kershaw threw one scoreless inning on Sunday in his first start of the spring in the Cactus League against the Mariners.

Kershaw only had to throw three pitches, as the Mariners were aggressive against the southpaw in his inning of work. It's a little surprising to see him only throw the one inning with that small of a pitch count, but the Dodgers aren't going to push their most important player. Assuming a clean bill of health, Kershaw will be one of the best pitchers in baseball again in 2018.
Feb 25 - 3:55 PM

Gerrit Cole tossed two scoreless innings Sunday in his unofficial Astros debut against the Cardinals.

Cole hit Tommy Pham with a pitch in the bottom of the first inning but retired the other six batters he faced, two via strikeout. The 27-year-old right-hander is lined up as the new No. 3 starter in Houston after being acquired from the Pirates in January for Joe Musgrove, Colin Moran, Michael Felix, and Jason Martin.
Feb 25 - 2:47 PM

MLB.com's Jon Morosi reports that Logan Morrison has agreed to terms with the Twins on a one-year, $6.5 million contract with a vesting option for 2019.

Morosi hears the contract could be worth as much as $16.5 million over two years, and ESPN's Jerry Crasnick says Morrison has a "reasonable chance" at maxing out the deal. Morrison no doubt had eyes on a bigger contract after he batted .246/.353/.516 with a career-high 38 home runs in 2017 with the Rays, but he never gained much traction in the slow offseason market. He should be the Twins' main designated hitter and can also fill in at first base.

Dominic Smith is dealing with a strained right quad and will undergo an MRI on Monday.

Between this and being benched for the first game after showing up late, Smith's spring isn't off to a great start. The youngster was already probably facing an uphill battle to make the Opening Day roster after the Mets signed Adrian Gonzalez. We'll find out Monday how long the quad ailment might set him back.

Joe Musgrove (shoulder) will throw a 20-25 pitch bullpen session Sunday.

He won't throw any breaking balls, but it's nonetheless a nice step after Musgrove was shut down for a week due to discomfort in his pitching shoulder. The right-hander spent time on the disabled list last season with a shoulder issue, so hopefully he bounces back well from Sunday's bullpen session.
Feb 25 - 8:16 AM

Twins top prospect Fernando Romero struck out three over two innings in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Orioles, which ended in a 1-1 tie.

Romero, who showed up on numerous top-100 prospect rankings earlier this year, was flawless, striking out the first two batters he saw and not allowing a baserunner in his two innings of work. The 23-year-old is no stranger to strikeouts, fanning 120 in 125 innings at Double-A last season. There's a good chance we'll see him in Minnesota in some capacity in 2018.
Feb 24 - 9:48 PM

Dan Vogelbach was wearing a walking boot on his right foot Saturday after being hit by a pitch in Friday's Cactus League game against the Padres.

Vogelbach was hit in the foot by a pitch in the first inning but stayed in the game, eventually being replaced by a pinch-runner five innings later. "Once I took my shoe off, it got real sore and this morning it was really stiff," Vogelbach said. "Hopefully, it's just a bruise and I'll be back on the field sooner than later." That's certainly the hope, but he'll at least be out the next few days as a result. More clarity should be gained as time goes on.
