Ubaldo Jimenez delivered another strong performance in Saturday night’s victory over the Tigers, allowing just one run on three hits over his six innings.

Jimenez struck out eight hitters for the second straight outing and issued just one walk. After a brutal beginning to the 2013 campaign, the right-hander has won three consecutive starts while allowing just three earned runs in 18 2/3 total innings. The overall numbers still look ugly, but he's a decent spot play right now in mixed fantasy formats.

Pirates signed LHP Kevin Siegrist to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Once considered one of the top left-handed setup men in the league, the 28-year-old hurler struggled to a 4.81 ERA in 39 1/3 innings during the 2017 campaign. He makes for a terrific low-risk signing for the Pirates as he has the potential to provide a major boost in the bullpen.

Matt Kemp went 2-for-2 with a three-run homer in the Dodgers’ 13-5 victory over the White Sox to begin Cactus League play.

Welcome back, Matt Kemp. The Dodgers reacquired the veteran outfielder in a swap of bad contracts with the Braves during the offseason. Most assumed the Dodgers wouldn’t keep him around for long, but he’s in the mix for playing time in left field and is clearly motivated to get back on track after being plagued with leg issues in 2017. He looks noticeably slimmer. Enrique Hernandez, another part of the left field competition, also went deep on Friday.

Evan Drellich of NBC Sports Boston reports that the Red Sox' delayed introduction of J.D. Martinez could indicate a complication in his medical review.

Martinez's five-year, $110 million deal with the Red Sox was reported in the press on Monday but has still not been officially announced by the Red Sox. Drellich says an issue may have arisen in the team's medical-review process. He believes that even if this is true it is unlikely to nullify the agreement, although it could result in changes to the years or money involved. Red Sox manager Alex Cora couldn't say if Martinez was still in Fort Myers, where the Red Sox hold their spring training camp.

Fernando Tatis Jr. belted a solo home run in a loss to the Mariners on Friday.

The 19-year-old hit a towering drive to the opposite field off reliever Shawn Armstrong in the eighth inning. Tatis leaped to the top of prospect lists by slugging .281/.390/.520 with 21 homers and 29 stolen bases in 117 games last year at the Single-A level.

Tigers signed LHP Francisco Liriano to a one-year, $4 million contract.

The deal, which was first reported by Robert Murray of FanRag Sports, also contains a possible $1 million more in incentives. Liriano has posted an unsightly 5.05 ERA over the last two seasons and is now 34, but his velocity was fine in 2017 and the Tigers are risking little here on a modest one-year deal. He'll compete for a spot in the rotation.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Twins "seem to prefer" Lance Lynn among the remaining free agent starting pitchers.

Heyman notes, however, that "there's still a gap in talks," with one Twins source telling him Lynn's asking price "hasn’t moved much, or enough, to this point." Minnesota seems to be content with their rotation for now after adding Jake Odorizzi, but they aren't ruling out addition upgrades if the cost reaches a certain level. Of course, many clubs would figure to have interest in Lynn if his demands drop significantly.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that Carlos Gonzalez is a "possibility" for the White Sox and that there's "been some contact" with the Astros, as well.

CarGo would provide the White Sox with a much-needed power bat either in a corner outfield spot and/or the designated hitter slot. Of course, Chicago probably isn't going to contend anytime soon and if CarGo gets a short-term deal it makes it a curious fit. The Astros could use Gonzalez in a corner spot and/or DH, as well, and would make more sense as a destination on a one-year "pillow" contract. The Orioles are one team that's been connected to Gonzalez, although they might move on after signing Colby Rasmus. The Rockies also haven't ruled out re-signing CarGo.

MLB.com's Jon Morosi said on MLB Network Thursday that the White Sox "could be a fit" for Mike Moustakas.

Morosi cautions that he's "not entirely sure how aggressively they are courting (Moustakas) right now" and also notes that general manager Rich Hahn told The Athletic this week that he's not really looking at any additions from outside the organization. However, Morosi was told by multiple executives that the White Sox "might be the most logical remaining fit" for Moustakas at this point. "Moose" hasn't been able to gain much traction in the market this offseason.

Jonathan Schoop is dealing with bursitis in his left elbow.

Schoop banged the elbow on something and had to have it drained after it swelled up on him. He was scratched from Friday's lineup and the Orioles couldn't say for sure when he'll return to action, but it shouldn't be too long. It's the second baseman's non-throwing elbow.

X-rays and an MRI on Matt Chapman's right hand came back negative.

Chapman has a bruised sesamoid bone in the hand and was given a cortisone shot to combat some inflammation, but he has no structural damage and should be fine. The third baseman figures to be ready for Cactus League action in short order.

Brent Honeywell has been diagnosed with a torn right ulnar collateral ligament and it's been recommended he undergo Tommy John surgery.

The initial diagnosis for Honeywell was a strained right forearm, but as doctors looked at him further the bad news was discovered. It's obviously a huge bummer, as Honeywell is one of the best pitching prospects in the game and had been slated to play a big role with the Rays this season. He'll get a second opinion but plans to have surgery as soon as possible. Honeywell will obviously miss the entire 2018 season and will probably get a late start to 2019, as well.
