Cameron Maybin (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tucson on Friday.

The Padres want Maybin to get around 30 rehab at-bats, so he should return sometime next week. The outfielder has been sidelined since mid-April with a nagging right wrist ailment.

David Ortiz (foot) slugged a solo homer and drew a walk Monday against the Orioles.

This guy. Ortiz was hit in his left foot by a pitch on Saturday and had to be scratched on Sunday due to some lingering soreness, but he felt well enough to give it a go on Monday and has now homered in three straight games. He hasn’t homered in three straight games since July 2014. The 40-year-old continues to go out on a high note. He’s slashing .337/.419/.727 with 14 homers and 47 RBI.
May 30 - 4:49 PM

Xander Bogaerts went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a walk, and two RBI in Monday’s win over the Orioles.

Bogaerts is now riding a 23-game hitting streak. He has multi-hit games in three straight and six out of his last nine. His .354 batting average is tops in the American League and he leads the majors with 75 hits.

David Wright said Monday that he is dealing with a herniated disk in his neck.

Wright has now missed three straight games with the neck issue and appears likely to hit the disabled list. More should be known about his status on Tuesday, but the Mets will likely use a combination of Wilmer Flores and Ty Kelly at third base for now.
May 30 - 4:33 PM

Josh Harrison (illness) is back in Monday's lineup against the Marlins.

Harrison has missed each of the last two games due to illness, but he's feeling better now. He's batting leadoff against left-hander Justin Nicolino in his return to action.
May 30 - 4:15 PM

Athletics manager Bob Melvin said Monday that they aren't ruling out Rich Hill (groin) from making his next start.

Melvin said Hill was still "a little bit sore" after leaving Sunday's start against the Tigers with a mild groin strain, but they'll see how he feels over the next couple of days before making an official decision. The A's have an off-day on Thursday and next Monday, so they have the flexibility to push him back if necessary.
May 30 - 4:11 PM

Mike Foltynewicz tossed six innings of one-run ball Monday in the Braves' 5-3 defeat of the Giants.

Folty gave up a solo homer to Brandon Belt in the top of the second inning, but his line was otherwise clean in the Memorial Day game at Turner Field. He yielded only three total hits and struck out four, moving to 2-2 on the year with a 3.51 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 28/8 K/BB ratio in 33 1/3 innings. The young righty is a pretty intriguing deep-league option. He gets the Dodgers on the road next.
May 30 - 4:06 PM

X-rays came back negative on Matt Duffy's left wrist.

Duffy exited Monday's game against the Braves after taking a pitch off his left wrist, but fortunately it doesn't appear to be serious. He can be considered day-to-day.
May 30 - 4:04 PM

Matt Harvey fired seven scoreless innings in a 1-0 victory over the White Sox on Monday.

Coming off two disaster starts against the Nationals, Harvey bounced back with his best (and longest) outing of the season. That’s baseball for you. He also had his highest fastball velocity of the season. Harvey limited the White Sox to just two hits and one walk while striking out six batters. He appeared to be in some trouble after the first two batters reached in the seventh and were moved over to second and third after a sacrifice bunt, but he got Todd Frazier to foul out to first base before retiring J.B. Shuck on a ground out. It was an encouraging step in the right direction for Harvey. He’ll try to keep it going this weekend against the Marlins in Miami.
May 30 - 3:49 PM

Mark Teixeira (neck) is back in the Yankees' starting lineup Monday against the Blue Jays.

It will be his first start since last Tuesday. Teixeira is starting at first base and batting fifth in the Memorial Day game versus Toronto right-hander Marco Estrada.
May 30 - 3:42 PM

Giancarlo Stanton (side) is out of the Marlins' starting lineup again on Monday.

Stanton was able to take live batting practice Sunday, but the Marlins will give his sore right side at least one more day of rest. Cole Gillespie will start in right field and bat seventh Monday night against the Pirates. Marcell Ozuna is hitting cleanup.
May 30 - 3:34 PM

Derek Dietrich was cleared of concussion symptoms.

Dietrich took a ricocheted ball off the back of his head Sunday while sitting in the dugout but apparently came away mostly unscathed. He showed up at Marlins Park in good spirits Monday. Miami's fill-in second baseman is slashing .325/.416/.524 with three home runs and 21 RBI in 44 games this season.
