Delmon Young homered for the second straight game in Wednesday's win over the Marlins.

Young also added an infield single and a pair of runs scored. His solo shot to left field in the fourth inning got the scoring started for the Phils, and it's all the scoring Cliff Lee needed. Young is still batting just .233/.304/.450 for the season but could be heating up.

Oswaldo Arcia (back) is not in the Twins' starting lineup Tuesday night versus the Tigers.

Arcia left Monday's game after tweaking a muscle in the upper-left part of his back on a swing-and-miss in the bottom of the sixth inning. He is day-to-day.

Nolan Arenado (chest) is out of the Rockies' starting lineup again on Tuesday night.

Arenado left Sunday's series finale in St. Louis with a chest contusion and did not do any pregame work on Monday or Tuesday. Charlie Culberson will start at third base Tuesday night against the visiting Dodgers.
Sep 16 - 5:25 PM

Ryan Zimmerman (hamstring) played three innings of first base Tuesday in a simulated game at the Nationals' spring training complex in Florida.

Zimmerman hit two doubles in five at-bats and ran the bases without issue. He is expected to play five innings at first base on Wednesday with an eye on returning to the Nationals' active roster in some capacity for the final week of the regular season.
Sep 16 - 5:17 PM

George Springer (quad) is done for the year.

Springer has not made enough progress from his quad strain and the Astros don't want him to push it too hard. The 24-year-old outfielder wound up posting an .804 OPS, 20 home runs, 51 RBI, and five stolen bases over his first 78 games at the major league level. He should be a fantasy monster in 2015.
Sep 16 - 5:14 PM

John Lackey (arm) threw a bullpen session on Tuesday evening at Busch Stadium.

Lackey was skipped from his last turn in the Cardinals' starting rotation due to a case of dead arm, but he is in line to return Friday and is expected to do just that. The veteran right-hander owns a rough 5.05 ERA in 46 1/3 innings since joining St. Louis.
Sep 16 - 5:10 PM

Mark Teixeira is out of the Yankees' starting lineup on Tuesday due to lingering wrist discomfort.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi told reporters that he'll rely on Teixeira to tell the team when he's ready to return. It's a day-to-day situation for now.
Sep 16 - 5:06 PM

Rusney Castillo is expected to make his major league debut on Wednesday night in Pittsburgh.

Castillo has played at three different levels of the Red Sox' minor league system over the past two weeks and will now make the big jump to the majors. The dynamic 27-year-old Cuban signed a record seven-year, $72.5 million contract with Boston on August 22. He'll start in center field in his MLB debut.
Sep 16 - 5:04 PM

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Tuesday that Masahiro Tanaka (elbow) is tentatively scheduled to return to the rotation Sunday against the Blue Jays.

Tanaka gave up six hits but went five scoreless innings Monday in an instructional league game at the Yankees' spring training complex in Tampa, Florida. The right-hander will likely be limited to 75 pitches in his first game back in the bigs. He was diagnosed in early July with a partially-torn ligament in his right elbow -- an injury that almost always leads to Tommy John surgery.
Sep 16 - 5:00 PM

Anibal Sanchez (pectoral) threw another short bullpen session on Tuesday and felt no pain.

Sanchez will toss a longer bullpen session later this week and should then be cleared for simulated action. He's not going to return before the end of the regular season, but the right-hander could be available for the playoffs. Sanchez has been out since August 8 with a pectoral strain. He suffered a setback on August 25.
Sep 16 - 4:50 PM

Alex Avila (head) is out of the Tigers' starting lineup again on Tuesday night.

Avila took a foul tip off his mask on Sunday, so he was held out Monday and Bryan Holaday will get another start behind the plate Tuesday versus the Twins. Avila has a history of concussions, so the Tigers are going to play it safe with him down the stretch.
Sep 16 - 4:42 PM

Rays recalled INF Nick Franklin from Triple-A Durham.

Franklin is starting at second base and batting fifth in his Rays debut on Tuesday night against the Yankees. The 23-year-old hit .272/.366/.412 with 11 home runs and 11 stolen bases in 102 games this season between Triple-A Tacoma and Triple-A Durham. He was acquired from the Mariners in the David Price tride and is probably Tampa Bay's second baseman of the future.
