Rafael Betancourt blew a save in the bottom of the 10th inning Saturday as the Rockies fell to the Giants.

Betancourt issued a walk to Brandon Crawford and then a walkoff two-run inside-the-park homer to Angel Pagan. The veteran Rockies closer has been dealing with groin problems lately but an examination earlier this week by team doctors ruled out anything serious. He will probably be reevaluated for that groin issue on Sunday morning.

Josh Reddick went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a grand slam to total five RBI in Saturday's 10-1 win over the White Sox.

The Astros put up four runs on Lucas Giolito in the first inning via a single, a sacrifice fly and a two-run double. Reddick got four in all on his own just one frame later, slamming Giolito with the bases juiced to push his team out to an early 8-0 advantage. He would have one more loud moment before the end of the game, crunching a solo home run in the fourth inning. With this stellar showing in the books, Reddick is now working to a strong .267/.380/.583 triple-slash with six home runs and 15 RBI across 18 games played. He's gone yard in two of his last three games.
Apr 22 - 12:28 AM

Sean Manaea allowed just two walks with 10 strikeouts for his first-career no-hitter in Saturday's 3-0 victory against the Red Sox.

Well, that's one way to cool off the red hot Red Sox. It was the seventh no-no in Oakland history and the first since Dallas Braden's perfect game back in 2010. Andrew Benintendi drew a walk with two outs in the ninth to make things a bit hairy, but Manaea got Hanley Ramirez to ground out to make history. His 10 strikeouts matched a career high as he threw 75 of his 108 pitches for strikes. He'll try to join Johnny Vander Meer with back-to-back no-hitters when he makes his next scheduled start Friday in Houston opposite Dallas Keuchel.
Apr 22 - 12:13 AM

Jesus Aguilar hit a pinch-hit walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning in Saturday's 6-5 win over the Marlins.

The Brewers tied up the game at 5-5 in the eighth inning. Aguilar would make sure it didn't last for too much longer. Pinch-hitting to lead off the bottom of the ninth, the first baseman fought it out with Junichi Tazawa in a stellar 13-pitch at-bat until Tazawa finally gave him something he could handle. Handle it he did, launching an absolute bomb to center field to send the fans home happy. Five of his 13 hits on the season have gone for extra bases, but Saturday's tater was his first home run of the campaign.
Apr 21 - 11:45 PM

Wade Davis threw a perfect ninth inning Saturday to close out a 5-2 win over the Cubs.

Davis needed seven pitches to finish off his former team, earning his ninth save of the year. He's been largely brilliant this season, posting a 1.93 ERA, 0.64 WHIP and 10/3 K/BB ratio over 9 1/3 innings.
Apr 21 - 11:37 PM

Jeurys Familia blew the save in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Braves, surrendering two runs on three hits over 2/3 of an inning.

Familia came into the game with a runner on third and two outs in the eighth inning. The Mets were clinging to a 3-2 advantage at the time. While he would escape that jam via a strikeout of Preston Tucker, no such luck in the ninth inning. Dansby Swanson led off with a four-pitch walk against the closer, which Johan Camargo followed up with a game-tying RBI triple. Two batters later, Ender Inciarte scored Camargo on a drag bunt single to win the game. The two runs scored against him on Saturday were the first two Familia has allowed all year. He figures to be able to bounce back from this one quickly enough, once the sting abates.
Apr 21 - 10:40 PM

Jacob deGrom was on his game while taking a no-decision in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Braves, striking 10 over the course of seven scoreless innings of work.

A masterful outing from deGrom, who pitched brilliantly only to see his team squander a 3-0 lead over the final two innings of the game. Not only did he strike out 10, he walked just two while limiting the Braves to four total hits -- only one of which went for extra bases. With this brilliant outing in the books, deGrom will carry a 2.53 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 40/8 K/BB ratio into a road start against the Cardinals when he next he trots to the mound. He has struck out 22 batters over his last two starts (covering 14 1/3 innings).
Apr 21 - 10:25 PM

C.J. Cron went 2-for-4 with a pair of two-run home runs in Saturday's 10-1 win over the Twins.

Both home runs played a major role in the victory. With the Rays trailing 1-0 in the third inning, Cron stepped to the plate and flipped the scoreboard, swatting a two-out, two-run home run off Kyle Gibson. Cron's crew would not trail again in the contest, but just for good measure, he put the game out of reach with yet another two-run shot in the seventh inning to cap off a five-run frame for the home team. He's up to four homers for the campaign. In addition, the first baseman is slashing .264/.316/.472 and has driven in 11 runs over the course of 72 at-bats. Cron has been good for 16 home runs -- on the nose -- each of the last three seasons, so he's a fair bit ahead of pace right now.
Apr 21 - 9:28 PM

Blake Snell surrendered one run on five hits over seven innings Saturday's 10-1 win over the Twins.

Snell struck out six without issuing a walk in the crisp win. He finished his early evening's work having thrown an even 100 pitches, 68 of those for strikes. A Miguel Sano sacrifice fly in the first inning served as the lone damage to the scoreboard on his watch, though he did have a touch-and-go moment late in his outing, as he had to work around a leadoff double from Robbie Grossman in the seventh inning. The Rays were holding a 2-1 lead at the time. He survived, and will now carry a 2.54 ERA, 0.99 and 32/10 K/BB ratio (28 1/3 innings) into a road showdown with the Orioles next time out. Had Snell not been roughed up by the Yankees for five runs in his second start of the season, those numbers would be even better. He has allowed zero or one run in all four of his other outings on the year.
Apr 21 - 9:10 PM

Buster Posey was scratched from Saturday's game against the Angels with back tightness.

Posey's thumb has given him problems in recent days, so in that sense it's a positive that the thumb isn't the issue this time. The bad news is that he's now got a back issue to contend with. Pablo Sandoval is serving as the designated hitter Saturday in Posey's stead.
Apr 21 - 8:39 PM

Rhys Hoskins went 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored in a 6-2 win over the Pirates on Saturday.

He belted a three-run jack off reliever Michael Feliz in the sixth inning and followed that with an RBI-single to right in the eighth frame. Hoskins broke into the league by hitting 18 dingers in his first 50 major league games last year. He is not quite matching that homer pace this year but his overall numbers are much better. He is slashing .328/.488/.639 with four homers, 19 RBI and 15 runs scored in 20 games. He's even pitched in three stolen bases already.
Apr 21 - 7:59 PM

Mike Clevinger tossed a complete-game, two-hit shutout against the Orioles in Saturday's 4-0 win.

He didn't blow them away but the Orioles just couldn't figure him out. He limited the O's to a pair of harmless singles and two walks while recording three strikeouts. It took him just 107 pitches to complete the shutout. Clevinger had a surprisingly strong season last year but has taken his game to a whole new level in 2018. He moves to 2-0 with a 1.75 ERA and 1.05 WHIP after four starts. He will try to keep it rolling against the Mariners on Thursday.
