Michael Wacha is no longer listed as the starter Sunday for Triple-A Memphis.

There's a good chance that means he'll be starting this week for the Cardinals following the injury to John Gast (shoulder). Wacha wowed the Cards during spring training and is off to a great start at Memphis, posting a 2.05 ERA and 0.95 WHIP over his first nine outings. He should be picked up in all fantasy formats.

Brett Anderson picked up his fifth win of the season in Wednesday's 4-3 victory over the Diamondbacks, yielding just one run over seven innings.

Anderson scattered seven hits over his seven innings of work. The lone run to dent his line came when he served up a solo homer to Aaron Hill in the sixth inning. Otherwise, Anderson was aces, striking out seven against two walks and improving to 5-4 on the year. This isn't anything new, as he's allowed two or fewer runs in seven of his last eight starts. Anderson's bugaboo has always been health, but for the time being, he is pitching some of his best baseball of the season. Overall, he holds a 3.00, 1.29 WHIP and 69/26 K/BB ratio over 96 innings. A home date with the Phillies awaits for his next start.

Astros manager A.J. Hinch said he's not optimistic George Springer (wrist) will be able to avoid the disabled list.

Hinch told reporters Springer's wrist is "causing great concern" with the club. Springer was hit on the right wrist by an Edinson Volquez pitch in Wednesday's win. He'll surely undergo X-rays before the team's next game on Friday, so the team should have a clearer picture of his prognosis prior to that contest.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports the Dodgers will sign Cuban pitcher Yadier Alvarez to a $16 million deal when the international signing period begins Thursday.

Deals can't be consummated until the period officially begins on July 2, so for now it's a handshake agreement. Passan reports the Dodgers are planning to "go huge" during the signing period, with Alvarez representing the biggest feather in their cap. The Dodgers have long been viewed as one of the frontrunners for the hard-throwing 19-year-old.

Rays activated LHP Matt Moore from the 60-day disabled list.

Moore will start Thursday for the Rays, his first start since April 7 of last season. The southpaw owned a 2.95 ERA and 24/8 K/BB ratio over 21 1/3 innings while rehabbing in the minors. Moore was an All-Star in 2013 and, while he'll have some bumps along the way, should enjoy a return to form eventually. Whether that's in 2015 is still anyone's guess.

Neil Walker went 4-for-6 with a pair of home runs, a stolen base, three RBI, and three runs scored as the Pirates drubbed the Tigers on Wednesday.

Walker was the hero on Tuesday, hitting a game-winning double, and stayed hot on Wednesday. His first home run, of the two-run variety, jump-started a five-run third inning. His second was the first of three solo home runs hit in the eighth. Walker's recent hot streak has his batting line up to .268/.338/.410 with six home runs, 27 RBI, 32 runs scored, and three stolen bases.

Buster Posey passed a concussion test after Wednesday's game.

Posey left the game after taking a foul ball off his mask. Giants manager Bruce Bochy said the catcher felt "off" and didn't want to risk further injury. He'll be re-evaluated again Thursday, but as of now it appears he dodged a huge bullet.
Jul 1 - 10:12 PM

Scooter Gennett went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, a triple, three RBI, and two runs scored to lead the Brewers past the Phillies on Wednesday.

It's his first three-hit game of the year and only his sixth multi-hit game. Gennett doubled and scored on Adam Lind's homer in the first inning, scored after reaching on a fielder's choice in the fourth, hit a two-run double in the sixth, and ripped an RBI triple in the eighth. He otherwise has not had much to write home about offensively, batting .224/.260/.392 with four home runs and 12 RBI.

Carlos Carrasco came within one strike of a no-hitter and ended up fanning 13 in the Indians' 8-1 drubbing of the Rays on Wednesday.

After a walk and a HBP to start the ninth, Carrasco battled back to retire the next two batters he faced. He then got ahead of Joey Butler 0-2, only to see Butler get enough of a slider to drive it over Jason Kipnis's head for an RBI single. It was Carrasco's 124th pitch of the night, so he came out afterwards, and Austin Adams finished up the one-hitter. Carrasco moved to 10-6 with a 3.88 ERA. He's been quite a bit better than that ERA suggests, but the Indians defense just hasn't been up to par.

Wei-Yin Chen tossed eight dominant innings in a win against the Rangers on Wednesday, allowing only two runs.

Chen scattered four hits and a walk while striking out two. Both runs came on solo home runs by Shin-Soo Choo and Ryan Rua in the third and fourth innings, respectively. Chen had also pitched well on Friday in his return to the Orioles' rotation. He now owns a 2.84 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP and a 78/22 K/BB ratio over 95 innings. The lefty will take on the Twins on the road in his next outing.
Jul 1 - 9:27 PM

Billy Burns finished 2-for-4 with a double, triple and two runs scored as the Athletics topped the Rockies 4-1 on Wednesday.

Burns, as he has been for much of the year, was the catalyst for the A's offense against Chad Bettis and the Rockies. The speedy outfielder tripled and scored in the third inning -- his fifth triple of the season -- and doubled and scored in the fifth. Burns is batting .320/.361/.430 with 34 runs scored and 16 steals on the year. Burns is owned in just 64 percent of Yahoo leagues, a number that should be higher given what he's shown to this point.

Sonny Gray (illness) was released from the hospital Wednesday.

Gray had been hospitalized since Tuesday due to "severe gastroenteritis." Despite feeling better, there's no clear picture of when the right-hander might make his next start.
