Mariners manager Eric Wedge said Friday that Tom Wilhelmsen will not be used as the team's closer for at least his next two or three outings.

The Mariners want to see Wilhelmsen work on improving his command and location in some non-save situations before being thrust back into the ninth inning. They'll utilize the dreaded closer-by-committee for the time being, with Carter Capps the most likely beneficiary.

Francisco Lindor went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer and three runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Tigers.

With a .315/.380/.438 batting line in his first 23 games, Lindor has certainly avoided a sophomore slump to this point.

Eduardo Rodriguez (knee) allowed three runs over six innings Tuesday with Triple-A Pawtucket.

But he didn't walk anybody and those three runs came on only five hits. It was a much better outing than his rehab debut with Pawtucket last Thursday, when Rodriguez gave up three runs on six hits and three walks in just 3 2/3 innings. The young left-hander should be a start or two away from returning to Boston.

Aroldis Chapman is expected to make two appearances this week in the minors before joining the Yankees next Monday.

Chapman has been looking sharp in extended spring training games at the Yankees' complex in Tampa, Florida and he should roll through a pair of innings on the farm.
