Jeff Locke twirled a gem in Friday’s victory over the Dodgers, allowing just two hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings.

Locke racked up five strikeouts in the impressive outing and needed just 75 pitches to cruise through seven innings. He’s been nothing short of tremendous this season, posting a 6-1 record, 2.19 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 60/36 K/BB ratio in 82 1/3 innings. While he’s unlikely to maintain this pace, he needs to be owned and active in all formats until he shows signs of cooling down. He’ll take on the Reds in Cincinnati on Wednesday.

Stephen Strasburg gave up two runs over seven innings and struck out nine in a 5-4 win over the Cardinals on Friday.

Strasburg gave up both runs in the first inning, but really settled down from there. He walked just one batter and notched seven strikeouts in the span of eight batters at one point. After finishing last season strong, the impending free agent is 4-0 with a 2.25 ERA and 40/8 K/BB ratio in 36 innings through his first five starts this season. He’ll attempt to keep it going next week against the Royals on the road.

Michael Fulmer defeated the Twins in his Major League debut on Friday, allowing two runs on seven hits over his five innings of work.

The 23-year-old right-hander struck out four and walked one in the ballgame. He cruised through the first three innings unscathed, but allowed the Twins to scratch out single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. He definitely held his own in place of the injured Shane Greene though and could secure a rotation spot for the remainder of the season if he continues to pitch well, making him an interesting target in deeper mixed leagues. He'll take on the Indians his next time out in Cleveland on Thursday.

Ryan Howard socked a walk-off solo homer in a 4-3 win over the Indians in 11 innings on Friday

The clubs were locked in a 3-3 tie after five innings and Howard finally broke through when he took Cody Allen deep to lead off the bottom of the 11th. It was his sixth career walk-off homer and his first since 2013. Howard went 3-for-5 with two runs scored on the night, boosting his batting average from .185 to .214. The Phillies have now won seven out of eight and sit at a surprising 13-10 on the year.
Apr 29 - 10:58 PM

Juan Nicasio was in dominant form in Friday's victory over the Reds, punching out eight over seven shutout innings of baseball.

Nicasio surrendered just three hits and a walk in the impressive outing. Through five starts he certainly looks to be another successful reclamation project for Pirates' pitching coach Ray Searage, as Nicasio has compiled a 3.33 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 29/12 K/BB ratio across 27 innings. He needs to be owned and started in all mixed leagues at this point for Wednesday's start against the Cubs.
Apr 29 - 10:50 PM

Yoenis Cespedes had a two-run single and a grand slam in the third inning Friday as the Mets thrashed the Giants 13-1.

It was his first start in a week and he announced his return to the lineup with authority. His grand slam was the exclamation point on a team record 12-run third inning for New York. The six RBI frame from Cespedes also set a team record. The 30-year-old has homered in four out of his last five games and is batting .313/.380/.719 with seven home runs and 23 RBI overall.
Apr 29 - 10:37 PM

David Ortiz went 2-for-4 with a go-ahead two-run homer in a 4-2 win over the Yankees on Friday night.

Ortiz took a first-pitch curveball from Dellin Betances and launched it over the Green Monster to give Boston the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. The veteran slugger was 0-for-7 with four strikeouts against Betances before the go-ahead blast. Ortiz is now up to 507 home runs for his career and is batting .297/.395/.568 with three home runs and 16 RBI through 21 games in his farewell season.
Apr 29 - 10:15 PM

Michael Saunders clobbered a pair of solo home runs on Friday, powering the Blue Jays to a 6-1 victory over the Rays in Tampa Bay.

Saunders tagged left-hander Drew Smyly (for the second time this season) for a solo blast in the third inning to open the scoring in the contest. He then launched another impressive drive off southpaw Dana Eveland in the eighth inning, increasing the Rays advantage to 3-0. Saunders has settled in nicely atop the Blue Jays lineup and is slashing an impressive .324/.377/.606 with four homers and eight RBI on the season.
Apr 29 - 10:01 PM

Aaron Sanchez delivered an outstanding performance in Friday's victory over the Rays, racking up six strikeouts over seven scoreless innings of work.

Sanchez scattered six hits and a pair of walks on the night, never letting the Rays mount a serious threat against him. His transition to the starting rotation has gone incredibly well thus far, as Sanchez has compiled a 2.59 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 29/8 K/BB ratio over 30 1/3 innings, that despite allowing six runs in his last outing. He'll look to replicate this fine effort when he takes on the Rangers at home on Wednesday.
Apr 29 - 9:59 PM

Rockies activated OF Charlie Blackmon from the 15-day disabled list.

Blackmon missed two weeks of action with a toe injury but is back at his regular spot atop the Rockies lineup on Friday. Prior to his injury, Blackmon was hitting just .185/.241/.333 with no homers and three RBI in his first eight games.
Apr 29 - 6:38 PM

Jon Lester struck out 10 batters while yielding just one run over seven innings in Friday's 6-1 win over the Braves.

Lester ran into trouble in his final frame, loading the bases with nobody out with the help of a bunt that he misplayed. However, he got back-to-back strikeouts and then a groundout to escape trouble. Although he wasn't credited with a victory, it was another terrific showing for the veteran lefty. Lester has recorded 10 strikeouts in two of his last three starts and will take a 1.83 ERA and 33/7 K/BB ratio into next week's showdown with the Pirates in Pittsburgh.
Apr 29 - 6:03 PM

Alex Meyer will make his first major league start on Tuesday in Houston.

He's replacing Tommy Milone in the rotation. Meyer has started and relieved since the beginning of last season, putting up a 1.04 ERA and 19/4 K/BB ratio over 17 1/3 innings at Triple-A Rochester in 2016. He has major control issues but also a big arm, so it will be interesting to see how he fares. He's worth a shot if you're in a deep league.
