Rickie Weeks hit a game-winning two-run homer in the eighth inning as the Brewers beat the Astros 3-1 on Wednesday.

It was Weeks' first game hitting leadoff this year, and he responded by going 2-for-4 with the winning home run. The homer was his sixth of the season, and while he's taken a while to get going his average has been slowly rising since the middle of May. He's always a slow starter, so expect him to continue to get better as the season rolls on.

Freddie Freeman is in the Braves' lineup Thursday against the Dodgers.

Freeman left Wednesday's game early after coming down with an illness and is still feeling the effects of it, but got the green light for Thursday's game anyway. He'll man third base and bat third against Dodgers right-hander Brandon McCarthy.

ESPN's Buster Olney is hearing from "rival evaluators" that the Astros may be the "most motivated" to trade for Zach Britton.

It's still hard to believe Britton, who pitched to a 0.54 ERA while finishing fourth in AL Cy Young voting last year, is actually available. But with the Orioles struggling to stay afloat in the AL East and Britton nearing the end of his contract (his deal expires after 2018), it's certainly become a possibility. Houston already boasts a strong bullpen but could use another arm with Will Harris (shoulder) on the disabled list. The Dodgers have also been in pursuit of Britton.

Todd Frazier (hand) is in the Yankees' lineup Thursday against the Mariners.

Frazier took a pitch off his right hand Wednesday in his Yankees debut but is good to go for Thursday night's series opener. He's starting at third base and batting seventh against Seattle right-hander Felix Hernandez. Chase Headley is handling first base.
Jul 20 - 7:35 PM

Mitch Haniger (finger) is back in the Mariners' lineup Thursday against the Yankees.

He's back after missing four games with a finger injury he suffered on a bunt attempt. Haniger will draw the start in right field while batting seventh against All-Star right-hander Luis Severino. The 26-year-old got off to a hot start this year but has hit just .176 since returning from the DL last month.

According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, the Athletics "have named their price" for Sonny Gray in trade talks with the Yankees.

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports added that the A's have a scout observing the Yankees' Double-A affiliate in Trenton tonight. The Yankees made a huge trade earlier this week when they acquired Todd Frazier, David Robertson and Tommy Kahnle from the White Sox and from the looks of it, they're not done adding pieces. Gray has drawn widespread trade interest with the Astros and Indians among his top suitors. The Yankees could certainly use another arm after losing Michael Pineda to Tommy John surgery earlier this month.
Jul 20 - 7:22 PM

According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, the Twins are "close" to acquiring Jaime Garcia from the Braves.

Garcia had been scheduled to start Friday night's game against the Dodgers but the Braves just scratched Aaron Blair from his scheduled outing Thursday for Triple-A Gwinnett, a sure sign that he's headed to the big leagues to replace Garcia. The left-hander would only be a rental as his contract is up at the end of the year but he'd be a great addition to Minnesota's starting rotation, which is relatively thin beyond All-Star Ervin Santana and rising star Jose Berrios. The Royals and Yankees were also said to be interested in Garcia, who sports a 4.33 ERA over 17 starts this season.

Dodgers designated RHP Sergio Romo for assignment.

That clears a roster spot for Grant Dayton, who is back from the 10-day DL. Romo's Dodgers career ends with a brutal 6.12 ERA over 30 outings. Injuries have hampered Romo over the last few years including a stint on the disabled list last month. Despite his struggles this season, the 34-year-old has a proven track record and shouldn't take long to resurface. Perhaps the Rays, who were interested in Ramos this offseason and are looking to bolster their bullpen, will consider him.
Jul 20 - 6:37 PM

Eduardo Nunez (hamstring) is back in the Giants' lineup Thursday against the Padres.

Nunez wasn't in the lineup Wednesday but singled as a pinch-hitter later in the game. He's been dealing with hamstring issues for about a month and the Giants are obviously going to err on the side of caution with the trade deadline coming up. Nunez will start at third base and bat second Thursday against right-hander Jhoulys Chacin.
Jul 20 - 6:20 PM

Padres activated OF Hunter Renfroe from the 10-day disabled list.

To make room for him, the Padres placed Manuel Margot on the paternity leave list. Renfroe missed the minimum 10 days with a strained neck. The 25-year-old has slugged 16 homers this year but carries a sluggish .231 average with 95 strikeouts in 316 at-bats. He's starting in right field and batting fifth Thursday against Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner.

RotoGrinders.com Daily Slant: For those looking to get adventurous in GPPs, Renfroe possesses some solid power numbers against LHP and Madison Bumgarner is still working his way back from injury. Bumgarner wasn't overly dominant against the Padres in his last start - his first since returning from the DL - and if any rust carries over, one bad pitch to Renfroe could end up in the seats. The Padres outfielder carries an elite .300 ISO and 166 wRC+ against LHP this season.

According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, the Rays have been "looking at" A.J. Ramos.

Per Heyman, the Rays are also in the running for Tigers closer Justin Wilson, though he's being pursued by a number of other teams and probably a long shot to end up in Tampa Bay. The Marlins just traded setup man David Phelps to the Mariners and dealing Ramos could be their next move. Ramos hasn't had the smoothest year (4.08 ERA, 1.30 WHIP) but he's only blown two saves and still carries an impressive 11.46 K/9 over 36 outings. He'd be an upgrade for a Rays bullpen that ranks 21st in the league in ERA (4.37).
Jul 20 - 4:20 PM

Jake Lamb hit a pair of three-run homers in the Diamondbacks' 12-2 rout of the Reds on Thursday.

Lamb was hitting fourth behind Paul Goldschmidt prior to the J.D. Martinez acquisition. He was moved up to the third spot ahead of Goldschmidt last night and remained there today, even though an injury had Martinez out of the lineup. Fourth is probably a little better for his fantasy value, but it shouldn't matter much. He's up to 22 homers and 76 RBI.
